Cultural Protocol update for Zardugal:
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=694400Differences from
current version:
* An overall shift in focus away from the Byzantine element (which remains present) towards more focus on Esperanto as a language;
* Removed the use of the Greek alphabet for Esperanto;
* Augustans renamed to Zards, now defined as Esperanto-speaking Southern and Eastern Europeans, and the Augustan language renamed as the Zardic language;
* Reduction in all existing ethnic categories (except for Other) to make room for ethnic groups from the FBCs once part of Zardugal's colonial empire;
* Mallan redefined as Ethiopian for ease of use;
* Orderist Hosianism removed;
* Additional 10% reduction in Hosianism;
* Daenism and Ruhi Faith introduced;
* Decline in Ahmadism and increase in Irreligious.
Justification for these changes:
* The primary goal is to make Zardic culture easier to understand and more accessible. Now it is based partially on a pre-modern empire speaking a constructed language that has nothing to do with it. This proposal shifts the focus on Esperanto, and establishes a culture taking its features into account. The in game justification is the recently RPd condemnation of "Augustan nationalism", itself justified based on the fact that the word "Augustan" itself was not use as self-identifier until the 34th century, and that only the southern third of Zardugal was part of the Augustan Empire;
* It is also difficult to find Byzantine imagery for anything modern, hence the broader definition that allows anything from Southern and Eastern Europe, as well as from other places;
* The current CP does not take into account Zardugal's colonial empire. Its existence has been RPd a bit recently, and it stands to reason quite a few people from the former colonies would live in Zardugal. This is also for ease of use - as an international language the Esperanto movement includes people from every continent and many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds;
* Orderist Hosianism has not been RPd for a while, and I've RPd its "demise" as well as the emergence of the Ruhi Faith in its stead in Zardugal; the removal of Orderism counts for 5% of the decline in overall Hosianism;
* The rest of the decline in Hosianism and the reduction in the number of Ahmadis is to make room for Daenism - the native religion of a big part of the Zardic colonial empire, and also for a slight increase in Irreligion due to the relatively more secular RP in Zardugal in recent times.
