I think this might require moderation approval - it basically RPs Selucia as being formed of 3 regions instead of the 5 provided by game mechanics: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=633829

Can you please look into this?

Sorry for the delay. Moderation will approve this but just note that Article VI (relating to regional independence) would only be permitted to take effect under specific and limited circumstances.

Could a party be banned on the reasoning that they have politically surpressed their opposition and prohibited them from having media or holding demonstrations

A specific party? Generally no, we’ve stayed away from banning specific parties. An ideology, a category of political parties yes but not a specific political party.

Depends whether you mean banned in the context of role-play or banned in an out-of-character sense.

Moderation will never ban parties for in-character, role-play decisions because this is clearly beyond the scope of our role. The only possible exception to this might be if a player was acting in a manner that was in contravention of the Game Rules. For example, if a player was role-playing that they had assassinated or arrested politicians from another party without the consent of the other player (or without reasonable justification based on the actions of the other player) then inactivation and a potential ban would be considered as a last resort.

In terms of banning parties in the context of role-play, this is certainly an option that is open to players but it is a particularly contentious area of the game. Speaking frankly I would only ever recommend considering this option when you have the agreement of all or most of the other players in a country. If there are players who are opposed to the idea then it would be better to discuss alternative options for role-play with them.

With that caveat, section 6 of the Game Rules does provide for role-play laws that ban particular parties (or types of parties) provided there is "appropriate background RP and justification". No hard and fast rule exists on what constitutes appropriate justification because Moderation has to consider how the rule will be applied and whether it is going to be used to discourage or exclude players, rather than enhance role-play.

The most obvious example of when a party or type of party might be banned is in the aftermath of a conflict. If a country had a civil war between republicans and monarchists, then the republican government might legitimately seek to ban monarchist political parties. In the example that you are describing a government which feels that another party has suppressed opposition might be justified in banning that party however it would need some dialogue with the player in question first.

Hope that helps but let us know if you have further questions.

Both of these bills are identical. The first is in the debate section, so that wouldn't be eligible for Moderation approval at any rate and as you note, the second is very old. Moderation only considers bills in the short time after they have been passed because otherwise the player base in the country is likely to have changed.

The bill doesn't appear a role-play law anyway because it is out-of-character. Role-play laws are additional bills that deal with areas of law not covered by the in-game variables. For more information, you can take a look at Section 6 of the Game Rules or else message a Moderator and we'll try to help.

Note: Not sure what you mods are gonna say about this but you know the situation. I have RP banned all radical parties now. If this isn't an appropriate RP I understand, I just want to see what you think now that both the radical left and right are banned?

Thanks
