Esteemed colleagues, it is with great pleasure that i come here to represent the Republic of New Verham as we seek to improve our continent in the fields of justice, peace and democracy. I am more then happy to belong to a government that is capable and willing to work towards the betterment of not just the country, but the continent as a whole. We hope for fruitfull discussions and meetings within this assembly for centuries to come.

Esteemed colleagues, before us lies a application from the Xsampan Democratic Republic to be admitted to our organization as a observer. Xsampa has indicated its willingness to start working on democratic and judicial reforms in order to, at a later stage, be admitted as a full member of our organization. In light of this committment, New Verham has provided the country with several advisors to help it through this period of reform. We vote in favour of observer status, which doesnt give the country voting rights or the right to speak in the committee but does allow to to take notice of our discussions and shows its intend on working together with the rest of the continent.

Esteemed colleagues, the United Kingdom is content to be present at this gathering and hopes that it will serve Dovani for the greater good. We acknowledge the motion to accept Xsampa as an observer state of this organization and approve its passage. May they see it as a future platform for justice and democracy.

Esteemed colleagues, as no one has voted against and two members in favor, Xsampa has been accepted as a observer state. I would immediately like to move on to the next topic, concerning the growing migrant crisis my country is facing in the Sea of Carina. Poverty, drought and a lack of opportunity has caused our brethren in the east to flee their country and find shelter in western Dovani. In recent months, we have seen a clear uptick in the number of migrants seeking asylum in New Verham. Thousands have died according to our estimates in a attempt to cross the Sea of Carina, drowning in their makeshift boats. This is a situation that forces us to take action. New Verham is welcoming all it can, but we have seen problems occuring and our provinces and agencies are having a hard time ensuring that we can shelter and process arrivals properly. The Republic hereby calls on fellow member states to help us in this endeavour. I propose that the Committee of Ministers issues a joint statement that expresses our desire to work together in overcoming this crisis and expressing our committment to humanitarianism. We would also ask our Lourennaise colleagues if they are open to signing a agreement with the Republic of New Verham, which would allow us to send some of those seeking asylum to Lourenne and either await their application there or apply for asylum in Lourenne itself. It would aleviate most pressure we are currently experiencing while at the same time showing that the Dovanian Council is ready to act jointly when necessary.

Esteemed colleagues, in addition to our earlier requests, we would like to put forth a motion for Xsampa to be admitted as a full member. Around 6 years ago we admitted the country as a observer. Since then, it has enacted a wide variety of reforms making its judiciary independent, democratizing their ruling party and ensuring the freedom of speech for its citizens. With this in mind, New Verham believes the country to be ready to be admitted into the Dovanian Council as a full member, showing to be a state that respects democratic principles with its own flair and touch. We vote aye on this measure.
