Statement from Ibutho Foreign Minister Dumisani Shabangu:

I am commanded to inform you that His Royal Highness the Great Elephant, Chief Mlungisi Shabangu of the Ibutho, most generously offers himself as a candidate to serve a term as 'Protector of the Jelbic Peoples'. If elected to this position, he solemnly vows to love the Jelbic Peoples as well as he loves his own Ibutho People and to defend them from all of their enemies. In return for fulfilling this role, he would require payment of 50,000 cattle per annum.

An official of the electoral committee released a statement concerning Chief Mlungisi ka Shabangu's offer.

While we are sure the Great Elephant would make a good Protector of the Jelbic Peoples, sadly he does not qualify as a candidate given that his nation is not one of states recognised as a Jelbic state. We however welcome his interest and passion for the welfare of the Jelbic people. And also, we are not a cattle rearing people as the Chief surely knows and the position is not a paid one.

Khan Azi Jlekaismrko Grakhldkai,athough not formally crowned Kahn of Jelbania wishes to revive the title of "Protector of the Jelbic Peoples" and nominates himself for the position.

The nation of Vanuku supports the revival of the title but will fiercely fight a claim to it. The title is elective, not one to be usurped.
