The Malivian Worker's Vanguard is published in Syene, Malivia and was founded in 2840 in order to bring the news to workers of Maliva and to the International Community. The paper is under the supervision of Michael Adams, the Minister of Internal Affairs

Malivian Monarchist Coalition is Victorious

Malivian citizens rejoiced as the Malivian Kommunist Party took the lead with 256 seats out of 600. The Malivian Kommunist Party received pluralities in all five of Malivian regions demonstrating their cross appeal. The Freedom Party, a conservative party fell to second place with 131 seats. The Freedom Party received devastating losses losing 61% of their seat share.

I think it is evident that the Freedom Party betrayed the voters with their legislative changes during the last six years. You can't campaign to keep the Monarchy and then immediately work to overthrow it. The voters have seen through the deception. We are pleased by the results and hope to work closely with our coalition partners to immediately form a cabinet.
Daniel Cohen

Newcomer the Barack Freedom Riders gained a respectable showing of 114 seats. Polls showed that the BFR Party cut Freedom Party's voter share roughly in half thus attributing to their stunning losses. General Franco had successfully courted military voters displeased with the peaceful reign of the last six years. Veteran Malivian Party Supporters in Science in Design had a poor showing by losing even more seats. They are currently in fourth place with 90 seats.

Supporters of Science in Design blame their defeat on widespread voter fraud and stuffing of ballots by the Freedom Party and the Kommunists. They claim the poor performance of Joseph Hunter IV, the son of the late Maharaja was also due to voter fraud and intimidation by Freedom and Kommunist. The Malivian Kommunist Party denies the accusation. Shortly after the election, the Malivian Kommunists, Barack Freedom Riders, and Supporters of Science in Desisn agreed to restore the Monarchy. The Freedom Party called faul calling the move trickery as neither the Kommunists or Barack Freedom Riders advertised their support for the Monarch in the campaign.

Malivian Kommunist Party: 256
Freedom Party: 131
Barack Freedom Riders: 114
Supporters of Science in Design: 90

Republicans: 131

Presidential Election of 2839

The first presidential election in centuries took place in Malivia in 2839. Daniel Cohen of the Malivian Kommunist Party and Juam Kastenlob of the Freedom Party made it to the second round with 45% and 22% of the vote. General Franco of the Barack Freedom Riders and Joseph Hunter IV were defeated with 20% and 13% each. In the second round, Daniel Cohen was endorsed by Supporters of Science in Design, the Barack Freedom Riders refused to endorse either candidate. When asked why SSD endorsed the Kommunist despite being on opposite ends of the political spectrum, Joseph Hunter replied that he could trust the word of the Kommunists where is the Freedom Party seemed to make policy decisions by flipping a coin. On election night, Daniel Cohen won with 51% of the vote. The Freedom Party achieved an almost upset by climbing to 49% of the vote.

We believe we would have had a larger victory if the Barack Riders had endorsed us. We lobbied a great deal for their support, but we have no complaints.

Supporters of Science in Design Propose Constitutional Changes

The SSD party has proposed numerous policy changes since the election of 2839 that handed Monarchists control over the executive and legislative branches of government. The major policy changes are the appointment of Joseph Hunter IV as Maharaja, the slashing of sales taxes, the banning of cars, and a significant decrease in legislative ability in terms of proposed laws each year. The Malivian Kommunists had some reservation concerning the policy changes that were all lumped together in one bill. The Freedom Party called the proposed policy changes as "totally unacceptable," and vowed to repeal them in the next election. With 469 legislators in support, the bill is expected to pass in December of this year.

We will vote for this bill to restore the Maharaja as this is our main priority. We can always reverse the other proposals at a later time.
Head of Government Clarence Martinez

Malivian Kommunist Party Dominates New Cabinet

In a surprising development, the Malivian Kommunist Party replaced the all Freedom Party cabinet. The Supporters of Science in Design voted in favor of the all Kommunist cabinet giving them the necessary majority to pass the cabinet. Political pundits are speculating that the Kommunists must have promised the Maharaja reinstatement for high level political benefits. The Kommunist Head of Government is Clarence Martinez, a long supporter of left-leaning causes.

I have every faith in Martinez's ability to govern this cabinet. He is a good friend and very trust worthy.

Malivian Kommunists Disband Monarchist Competitors

In Executove Order #1 of the new Monarchist regime, the Malivian Kommunists have decreed that the Barack Freedom Riders and the Supporters of Science in Design are to be disbanded from the political process. The Malivian Kommunists threatened to use military action if the two parties failed to comply. The Supporters of Science in Desisn disbanded before the resolution was passed stating they would leave if the Kommunists support the Monarchy. The Barack Freedom Riders ironically voted in favor of their disbandment giving the resolution majority support. The Freedom Party opposed the measure calling it undemocratic. Within months both parties had been disbanded creating an entirely new political situation in Malivia. Incoming Maharaja has not taken a political position concerning the disbandment but has pledged to work with the Kommunists where they both agree.

The two Monarchist Parties are unnecessary for the preservation of the Monarchy for the next six years. We are pleased that the two parties have cooperated in their disbandment and in their current work in other countries to promote Gerajan and Monarchy to Terra.

Malivian Kommunists Reveal Radical Taxation and Budget Policy

The Malivian Kommunists successfully passed a new income tax which will tax all citizens making over 100MCR 90%. Since almost all citizens earn income, it would affect the entire population. The Malivian Kommunists have justified the radical increase in taxes by providing a much larger budget than the Freedom Party's administration. The current budget which generously provides more for defense, infrastructure, and health services is roughly five times larger than the previous budget. The Freedom Party dismissively called the budget stupid and demanded lower taxes.

Maharaja Joseph III is Crowned

Malivians celebrated a 250 year old tradition December 2839 by selecting Joseph Hunter IV Maharaja of Malivia and colonial territories. Many of the Monarch's support wore red to symbolize the Kommunist revolution. Wearing traditional ceremonial clothes, Maharaja Joseph III greeted his Premier General Daniel Cohen and 250 legislators of the Malivian Kommunist Party. Several International observers were on the scene as was as some invited representatives of the defunct Supporters of Science in Design Party. The Freedom Party, the only opposition party in Malivia boycotted the proceedings.

The Maharaja is not only the Head of State for Malivia but its religious leader. The Maharaja is expected to defend the faith against domestic and foreign invaders as well as interpret visions for the country. Maharaja Joseph I famously interpreted the appearance of a Gerajan god in Vascania and promptly invaded so as to provide freedom of religion to the people there. The Maharaja is scheduled to appear in Northern Vascania for an additional ceremony in Hunterville. Malivia is the only source in the world for the Gerajan religion, a faith practiced by a majority by Malivians. It is estimated that millions of Gerajan faithful also exist in Northern Vascania, Selucko, Darnussia, and Hobrazia. The Maharaja was set up in the late 2590s and has ruled the Malivian people with little interruption ever since. In the capital city of Syene, supporters showed up in the tens of thousands breaking records in crowd numbers. The ceremony itself lasts for a little over 24 hours.

Malivia Ends Isolation

After decades of isolation, Malivia has resigned and created several new international agreements. In the spring of 2840, Malivia passed a resigning of the Axis Military treaty. Malivia had been an active member of the Axis for over two centuries, but had withdrawn under the Freedom Party administration. Malivia also signed the International Monarchist League treaty cementing Maharaja Joseph III's role in the coalition of Monarchs. The Malivian Kommunist Party also wrote and signed a treaty recognizing the Gerajan population in Malivia as well as another treaty inviting socialist nations to form a military union. In a gesture towards the freedom of man, Malivia signed the Global Emancipation Treaty with a unanimous vote.

Malivia Places Freedom Party Under Arrest

For crimes against the state which include treason, heresy to the Gerajan faith, and voter fraud, the Malivian government has placed the legislators of the Freedom Party under house arrest. The arrested politicians still have the right to vote and propose bills from their residence but will not be allowed to campaign or move about until the investigation is complete. When asked how the Freedom Party would plead, they voted to plead innocent. The next step will be to decide the guilt of the Freedom Party which has become Malivia's greatest legal story in recent decades. The Freedom Party has stated that the arrests are "rubbish" and that they deserve a real judgment.

We have found that the floor of the Jawatanquasan Supreme Sovieks to be a lot more quieter but more efficient with the Freedom Party gone. That said, we await the judgment of the Court system. The Malivian Kommunist Party recently voted in favor of separating the Judicial system from the Executive. The fate of the Freedom Party is out of my hands.
