International Flag Competition

Postby seanrutter » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:20 pm

OOC: I believe this existed in one form or another ages ago..

IC: It is the intention of this organisation to evaluate the aesthetic quality of national flags throughout Terra.

The first order of business is to appoint the judges for this contest. If you are interested, state so below.

OOC: I will also be glad to join. Ashame people have ignored it. Maybe with we continue to post on this threat, etc more will be attracted and join in.

IC:

The Royalist Union from Keymon would like to send a possible nominee for a judge - Patrick Wilson, as well as would like to ask if it could also send a flag to enter the competition. Thank you.

Top malivain fashion designer Hulio Klavaklien would like to sign up as a judge. He started his career as the official designer of all of my parties things.
Also how many judges will there be?

Well, although there isn't as much people as you may have hoped for, I say on with the festivities and competition!

We have 4, and maybe when people see how it is, they'd join!

OOC: So since seanrutter seems to be absent, I'd like to try to continue this until he returns. Also, even if you have moved nations, you could still control the previous character from that nation, and may even nominated new characters from the current nations. But I hope you at least try to create different character with the possibility to vote/grade differently.

IC
Welcome to the provisional 1st International Flag Competition! So far, our panel of judges include:

Calvin Cartridge, Vice-Consul of Union Socialism Alliance in Ikradon
Patrick Wilson, nominee from the Royalist Union in Keymon
Hulio Klavaklien, top fashion designer of the Gerajan Monarchist Party in Malivia
Drill Sgt. Franklin Mendez, Minister of Education & Culture of the Satanist Republican Party in Davostan

An unnamed nominee from the Nameless Party in Saridan
An unnamed nominee from the Liberal Democrats in Beluzia

Now we need a location/host of the event. Are there any nominees?

OOC:
Also, we'll need a comprehensive grading or voting system.
I thought maybe judging it on 2 areas where people grade the following aspects on a 0-5 scale:

Creativity & Originality
Colours & Icons

And then the "Personal Aesthetics Opinion" on a 10-point scale, whether the judge him or her self liked the flag
And then adding those up to determine the grade.

Also, on the format, would we just have random entrances? Or should we have like thematic entrances. Say, we can have nation flags competing against each other, company flags in their own division, sub-national flags etc., we could also have a competition were nations or provinces submit their official flag for competition or grading.

I suggest for the time being, we create "divisions", like
Flags for a Public State (united Terra, nation, continent, state, province, county, community, city, village)
Flags for a Private Organisation (corporations, companies, charities, churches, sports etc.)

What do you guys think?

Sounds good, maybe we should just judge all of the nation flags and see how it gos before we do any other type of flag.

Yes, that is also an idea, and after that we could have a competition where individuals submits their flags.

I'll create a conference forum, and we'll have the 1st National Flags of Terra Competition. I guess Ikradon shall host it, lest there be someone else who would like to host this event.
