Good song, and now, let's turn on the spotlighs.

As you may have heard, the Alliance of Terran Republics is celebrating their half-centennial in an extravagant way, or at least, that's the way Gaduri officials are describing it.

The ATR50, the official name of the celebration, promises to be an extravagant showing of diplomatic solidarity, international cooperative unity and collective cultural celebrations, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Alliance. So far, some 10 nations has pledged attendance, and nearing 75 official state dignitaries. The four-day event has been in plannings for a couple of years now, and preparations kicked off this year, one year ahead of the actual event. Many point to the early preparations as a sign that this will be, indeed, the biggest celebration Terra has ever witnessed. Gaduridos officials have been working hard these past couple of years, including cultural and security preparations, trainings and simulations for the event, and infrastructure modernisation and transportation simulation, to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The Gadur city officials are working day and night with the Gaduridos central government, where official prognostications estimate that up to 2.5 million foreign visitors are expected to come to Gaduridos to partake in the events around the country. The main official state celebrations will occur in Gadur, and parts in Che Zhu, but all the other cities will also hold events for the open public. As well, some 10 million domestic citizens are expected to attend the official celebration in Gadur, while each city is expected to have plenty of rural visitors as well for their events. For that reason, the government has elongated the celebration to have a year-long event, starting at the end of this month, climaxing at the four-day ATR50 extravaganza, an ending with new-year 3261.

Events include concerts, cultural events, cooking fairs, events involving the space programmes, fireworks extravaganza, holiday celebrations, school cultural events, and for the four-day extravaganza, a cultural as well as military parade will be present, a domino tournament, cultural fairs, a native Gaduri play, the opening up of the new Alliance Hall within Gaduridos, a firework extravaganza so big that even Rildanor and Indrala would be able to see it, or so some officials claim, and

As well, ladies and gentlemen, it is an honour to announce, that Gaduridos and International Airwaves Channel has signed an agreement, granting IAN exclusive privilege to broadcast all these events for you, the international audience, starting with the New Year's Concert at the changing of this year, and ending one year later with the closing New Year's Concert in 3260-3261. We will be bringing you every concert and event, and have in-depth coverage of the four-day extravaganza. As well, IAN has also acquired limtied creative rights as to the content and artists in the official concerts, meaning that you will also be hearing great music at these concerts.

As well, we also announce a public statement by the government of Gaduridos: "Any nation, alliance-members or not, willing to send delegates to attend the ATR50, can contact the government of Gaduridos, showing their intent, and with a list of dignitaries." We hope to serve you all during these broadcasts. Until then, let me give you this piece of music for your hearing pleasure. I’ll leave you all with this number from another Gaduridos native, the self-named first Alliance-artist, touring all nations of the Alliance singing his protest song, here's Ilako Hokaido, with his song "Too Long". I’m Zhi Chosun here on your International Airwaves Network, like music to your ears. Please enjoy Ilako Hokaido and his song ‘Too Long’ and see you next time!

Daily Nightline

Good Evening Terra!

I'm your host Zhi Chosun and welcome to this edition of Daily Nightline, on this 4 November 3280 in Mestreech, Salnaeta, Gaduridos, on the International Airwaves Network, like music to your ears. Relax, sit back, as I give you the need to know stories around Terra!

• In Malivia, after years of tensions, and after almost two-hundred arrests of Gaduri overseers, the government of Malivia alleges that the imprisoned Malivians in Gaduridos, over two-thousand, are being used as hostages.

• In Valruzia, Former Emperor Henryk I passes away in Gaduridos, where the Emperor fled to after a string of protests and riots erupted in his homeland of Valruzia.

• In Indrala, the Indralan space programme takes one step further, and will now focus on building space stations to be used in future endeavours, and seeks to claim, colonise and exploit the orbiting moon.

• In Gaduridos, more than two-thousands arrests are made of Malivian citizens, as tensions continue to rise between Malivia and Gaduridos, and Gaduridos has stopped the flow of money into Malivia. The government also alleges that their prisoners in Malivia have been mistreated, and manipulated methods have been used to charge, arrest and convict them.

• In Keymon, President Coolwithy signs the Socialist Bloc treaty, as Keymon joins the Socialist Bloc among inner-party and inter-governmental squabbling.

• In Dranland, High-ranking members of the GNP questions the monarchy, as an open debate and referendum have been called by the plurality GNP, as Indrala backs former minister Lee and his plan.

• In Dorvik, VD leader Titov rejects a cabinet proposal, as he calls for a right-wing coalition to govern Dorvik

• In Trigunia, unrests continue as the nation moves to a communist dictatorship, as private business have been destroyed or dismantled, as the TPT speaks out against the current regime.

• In Hutori, monarchists attain the tiniest of majorities, as republican sentiments rise across the country, as AH and UP form government.

• In Kazulia, a new republican movement, B is rapidly rising in popularity, opening up debate and demanding reform in the country, as royalist stand firm on their belief. As well, Marshall Tellefsen paid an unofficial to the troubling nation of Talmoria.

• In Solentia, public sentiments are beginning to counter the royalist and monarchic institutions as republican movements demand the return of the federal republic.

• In Talmoria, the isolated and poor country receives aid from Gaduridos, in exchange for economic benefits. The aid package received includes food, water, and experts for sustainable agricultural and infrastructural development of Talmoria. Minister of Defence Filipe demands better weapons, as Talmoria invites foreigners in the country.

• In Kafuristan, protesters take the streets, demanding reforms and an end to the despotic rule of the monarchy and the military, as embargoes are place on the nation by several Alliance nations.

So many news around Terra, but now it's time to entice your eardrums with this song from Talmorian icon and lyricists, Cabdi Somali, with his song Voices. Please enjoy Cabdi Somali.

Good song, and now, let's turn on the spotlights.

We move to the transitioning nations today, focusing on Kafuristan, Talmoria, and events in Hutori, Drania, Kazulia and Solentia.
In Kafuristan, after a well-publicised debacle between former great allies and neighbours Badara and Kafuristan, a hard-line political and propaganda war commenced, involving high members of both the Alliance of Terran Republics, of which Badara belongs to, and the International Monarchist League, where Kafuristan is a prominent member of. After Badara suspended all relations to Kafuristan, including freezing assets, Kafuristan responded in what many experts are calling a terrible way; sanctioning the twenty-member Alliance.
Outrage swept the Alliance, with Gaduridos seizing and freezing all Kafuri assets, and even calling, and implementing a blockade. As well, trade and travel embargoes where used by many nations across the Alliance. Such measures drew the ire of other League nations as well, most prominently Hulstria. A propaganda war then ensued in the papers as both side tried to rally up international allies, and try to force the other side into a solution. Calls for peace were made by the island nation of Indrala, but to no avail.
This cold war between the ATR and the IML had some experts fearing for all-out war, but it would seem that the people of Kafuristan would not allow that, as they took matters in their own hands and sought reforms and changes within their countries. The Government tried everything, from crushing protests, firing into crowds, to even disrupting communications and satellites broadcast by this own network. Protesters would ask, or rather beg us to hear their stories and to broadcast for Terra to see, regardless of the disruptions.
More recently, reports are coming in from Hutori, Drania, Kazulia and Solentia, where republican movements and political organisations are seeking their own reforms against their monarchic institutions. In Hutori, the monarchy is fighting for its existence, as has happened sporadically these last five decades. Drania’s leading party has spoken out and question the monarchy, and has demanded a referendum on the issue. Neighbouring Kazulia is once again home to a rising republican movement, demanding reforms, and it is to be seen if the royals can stem this one again. Solentia, a pioneering republic for a millennium, is seeing many political organisations advocating and fighting for the return of republicanism.
It seems that the Alliance of Terran Republics definitely appeals to many across Terra, as republican movements have become more organised and popular, and more publicised and highlighted by Alliance member-nations and their newspapers, leading to a new, transparent world, where the people seem to finally fight for their rights. A non-scientific tally would put the ATR at twenty nations, while the IML has been reduced to nine between the Commonwealth and the League treaty – including the none-active IML nation of Tukarali, and the unstable nation of Hutori.
That’s our spotlight for today, as we see many changing currents around Terra. The 3200s might be the most eventful century in recent history. In any case, I leave you all with Eyes Wide Open by Post Stamp Collections, until next time, on the International Airwaves Network, like music to your ears.

K’naan – Voices in my Head

Democracy Report

As an accompaniment to your nightly news, we would like to bring you a new periodic broadcast: the Democracy Report! Here we will classify nations into several categories, to give our travelers, journalists, and others an idea of where citizens have the most say in their government. It is important to note that, while this report is an accurate measure of how democratic a nation is, it is not intended to indicate how free it is. There are democracies which have no privacy and dictatorships with expansive freedom of speech. Likewise, some autocracies have much popular support among the citizenry.

Tier 1: Nations in Tier 1 have a high-functioning democracy, choosing both parties of the legislature and the Head of State. Voters have many choices, and exercise them well.

  • Third Republic of Aldegar
  • Commonwealth of Hutori
  • People's Socialist Republic of Baltusia
  • Sovereign County of Beluzia
  • Most Serene Cildanian Empire
  • Volksrepublik Dorvik
  • Bundesrepublik Dundorf
  • Republic of Endralon
  • Democratic Republic of Ikradon
  • Supreme Imperial Republic of Keymon
  • Kundrati Union
  • Pontesi Hegemony
  • Commonwealth of Rutania
  • Imperium Selucianum
  • United Federal Republic of Telamon

Tier 2: Nations in Tier 2 have a high-functioning democracy and voters have many choices, but the Head of State is unelected.

  • Kingdom of Dranland
  • Holy Luthori Empire
  • Kingdom of Solentia

Tier 3: Nations in Tier 3 have democracy, but one party dominates the government and holds almost all power. The Head of State may be elected or unelected.

  • Alduria
  • Feline Homeland of Barmenia
  • Republic of Cobura (Note: The placement of Cobura was controversial, as the hereditary Head of State Cesara Colonna holds the sole power to propose cabinets, and so while the legislature is controlled by an "opposition" party the government structure is effectively that of a Tier 4 nation.)
  • Federal Republic of Deltaria
  • Second Dolgarian Republic
  • Imperial Crownlands of Greater Hulstria
  • Great Empire of Indrala
  • United States of Jelbania
  • Free and United Country of Kalistan
  • Empire de la Canrille (Kanjor)
  • Principality of Kazulia
  • United Republics of Lodamun
  • Confederate States of Lourenne
  • Republic of Vorona
  • Trigunskaja Narodnaja Respublika (Trigunia)
  • Great Kingdom of Tukarali
  • Rzeczpospolita Walruzyjska (Republic of Valruzia)
  • Kalopiká Diktatoría
  • Federation of Zardugal

Tier 4: Nations in Tier 4 have no real democracy; they are autocratic in nature.

  • Federal Majatran States of Badara
  • Democratic Republic of Aloria
  • Republic of Beiteynu
  • Imperia Narikaton/Darnussian Republic
  • Unholy Davostan Empire
  • Federal Republic of Egelion
  • Free Gaduridos
  • Hobrazian Republic
  • United Jakania
  • Al-Emmelkh al-Qafuristaniyyah (Kafuristan)
  • Republic of Kirlawa
  • People's Republic of Likatonia
  • Great Gerajan Artanian Kingdom of Malivia, Abode of Welfare
  • Free Republic of Mordusia
  • Republic of Kizenia
  • Repubblica Istaliana (Quanzar)
  • Empire de la Canrille (Rildanor)
  • Volkstaat (Saridan)
  • Rengō no Sekouo Teikoku (Sekowo)
  • Republic of Talmoria
  • Vanukuaanse Volksrepubliek

Tier A: Nations in Tier A have no functioning government.

  • There are currently no Tier A nations.

LA: Good Morning Terra! This is your favourit host Lila Antonise speaking. We are accompanied by Dr. Klaus van Anholt who will help me introduce you to the recent global happenings.
KvA: Good Morning Terra, I'm glad to be here. Do not forget that you are listening to the IAN, the world's best radio station avaiable at 7.2 MHZ globally...
LA: ...and at 97.7 FM in Saridan.
KvA: Stay with us for the International News Broadcast!

Trigunia Is making a small step towards ending LGBT discrimination- Trigunia's two ruling parties have achieved compromise over the issue of homosexuality in the military. Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgenders are now able to become a part of the Trigunian Army if they remain silent about their sexuality. This "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy, despite still being heavily discriminative is better than the previous poicy. Many call this a small step towards ending LGBT discrimination in Trigunia. LINK

Army Structures Reorganized in Telamon- Even during periods of global peace improvements have to be made in national militaries, Telamon is the perfect example. It has reorganized its military structures to prepare for major drills with the --now homosexual-- Trigunian Army. Telamonese Armored divisions and Mechanized Divisions were combined into Combined Arms Divisions in hopes of rising combat effectiveness. LINK

Joint Trigunian-Telamonese Drills Conducted- This year's annual joint military exercise is a clear indication of the very close diplomatic ties between Telamon and Trigunia. A total of 3000 troops have participated in this joint miitary drill. Critics accuse the previously mentioned nations of warmongering and purposely warming up global tension. LINK1 LINK2

"The Saridani Tunnel of Liberal Dreams"- With the "Millenium" tunnel being barely 40 percent complete and only several months separating us from the new century, the internet is now full of jokes about how the Tunnel has little chance of being finished before year 4000. The Millenium Tunnel was planned about 30 years ago, during Saridani Liberal Front's rule, although it was cancelled quickly because of the communist revolution that ravaged the country. Various Urban Exploration groups now wander around the so-called "Tunnel of Liberal Dreams", a monumental building that could have changed Saridan drastically if the Liberals didn't flee the country to save themselves from terrorist threats.
