Karavs Re-Unite in Lodamun

Decades after the discovery of the whereabouts of Tackoppe III, the Karavs have re-united in Lodamun, and are serious about business. They plan to use their experience, in the banking sector, to restore Lodamun to its position as the banking centre of the world. The Royal Bank of Lodamun, instead of Beluz banks, will now be the main authority of the KRV (Karav Standard Reserve) currency. The Lodamese Central Bank and the Karavs' banks have been merged into the Royal Bank of Lodamun, the new headquarters for Karav Financial Services.

COMMonwealth COMMunists?

The Communist Party of Lodamun has suggested that the government deny recognition of the Jien-MZD government of Indrala, in favour of Indrala's Communist Party. The Nationalist Party, however, voted against the bill, which will prevent the Prince from signing it.

Lodamun's Communists performed quite well in the most recent elections, winning 130 of the 300 seats in the Principal Council. The Prince cannot sign any constitutional amendments or treaties without approval from at least 200 members of the council; with the Nationalists holding only 170 seats, they will need to seek the approval of the Communists before making any big moves.

President Edwin Fertig said he was worried about whether Lodamun's relations with the Indralan Commonwealth will suffer, especially since Lodamun isn't recognized as a sovereign state under their Prince; Edwin Fertig said "I hope the rants made by members of the other side of the council don't hurt our relations with Indrala's current legitimate government. We will recognize a Communist government when a Communist government is elected, but the Jien-MZD has been doing a good job, and KFS banks were built in Indrala during their term. They're not a bad government."

Deltarian Clerics Banned from Banks

Secretary of the Karav estates, Jasmine Fertig, announced that the Karavs wished to have all clerics banned from their banks in Deltaria. She said that there are plans to have all their accounts closed, and their assets frozen. While there were very few accounts, it is expected to get a bitter reaction from the clerics. Jasmine Fertig said the Karavs claim that they will "only allow clerics who have special written permission from the Czar" to access their financial services. While Karavs have pledged neutrality towards Lodamun's internal politics, only the Prince is obligated to show neutrality, and this move is based on the fact that Karav banks were set up in Deltaria by the Czar in the first place.

These are just statements for now. Since the Royal Bank of Lodamun is a partnership between the Karavs' banks and Lodamun's original central bank, the statements have no effect until a majority of the Lodamese legislature supports the move. Edwin Fertig, Jasmine Fertig's uncle and the current President of Lodamun, has criticized her for releasing this information to the public before a decision has been made by the government and the Principal Council. He reminded her that the banks are no longer "their" (in reference to the Karavs) banks, and that the banks now belong to public authorities in Lodamun as well.

Karavs Laugh at Deltarian Journalist

The Karavs have laughed at journalist Orbán Olasz for implying that the Royal Bank of Lodamun has "competitors" in Deltaria. "If they're throwing their money in some cardboard box that they call a bank, it's not our problem. We still issue the world's strongest and most important currency, as well as the world's only recognized reserve currency," commented Estate Secretary Jasmine Fertig. "We set Deltaria's exchange rates, and we have been given permission, by a treaty that the Deltarian government signed, to have partial influence on Deltaria's financial authorities and related public offices. Is the government calling on the people to boycott their own banks? We provide every popular banking technology, including the most user-friendly currency converters and fact-sheets that allow our customers to decide where they want to invest their money or so on. We really have no competition," she continued.

President Edwin Fertig, Jasmine Fertig's uncle, still says that Lodamun's public officials still haven't made a declaration regarding the closing of the banks. It is believed that he is stalling the issue, and that there will be no real seizure. "The issue still hasn't even reached the Principal Council, yet," he says.

Deltarian Boy Says Clerics Abused Him

A Deltarian boy by the name of Zlatko Gavrilyuk, aged 12, said he was forced into "strange positions" by Deltarian clerics. He claimed one of the clerics laughed and asked "Could the Czar do this? Is the Czar this powerful?" as the others stood around, watching and laughing, until each had "his turn" to damage the boy. Lodamese doctors confirmed odd markings on the skin which suggested the boy was sexually abused. The boy claims he was the member of a youth group dedicated to Czarist loyalty, and that his church knew about it.

KFS Investigation Reveals PRP Links to Nuke

A financial investigation undertaken by the Karav Financial Services, on the origins of the nuclear device responsible for the nuclear explosion in Forteco, has revealed a paper trail leading to high-ranking members in the PRP. Soon after the explosion, the Deltarian origins of the weapon were uncovered by the Deltarian government itself, who discovered a conspiracy to sell a low-yield nuclear device to unknown parties in Cobura.

The KFS-run investigation brought to light a financial transaction of 200m COB, from the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Cobura to Deltarian Defence Minister Silvester Dalimilek, dated May 3524. The amount of money does match the value of the nuclear weapon on the black market, pointing the finger of suspicion towards the PRP-run government at the time.

200 million COB is equal to 90.9 million LOD, or a little above 1.8 billion DTE.

Close Elections May Result in Federalist President

After the restoration of the Principal Republic of Lodamun, close election results were no surprise to all parties. Fighting for 300 seats, the 4 parties polled so close that the top party won only 29 more seats (less than 10%) than the 4th party. No party has managed to reach more than 100 seats, which means none can be dominant or have enough power on its own to block a bill that requires a supermajority vote. "The next 4 years, in Lodamun, should be rather interesting," Nationalist Leader Edwin Fertig said. The Nationalists plan to back an attempt, by the Federalists, to form a minority government.

"The Federalists will be in power at the best time," Fertig said, "we, Nationalists, plan to propose a range of bills to form technocratic committees and strengthen the executive. A strong executive means a more stable government. Our proposals, for these committees, will also ensure that individual states are given seats according to their relevance to the area of focus. For example, Golavia and Kregon are our most militaristic states, so they deserve to have more say in military affairs. Kregon is our largest state, so it deserves to have more representation in the Land Management Council. This reduces all the unnecessary chatter from wannabe geniuses in the council."

The policies of Lodamun's 4 parties are evenly distributed on the left-to-right scale. The Communist Party is center-left, the Green Party is left-of-center, the Nationalists are right-of-center, and the Federalists are center-right. It's an interesting distribution.

Technocratic Committees

The Nationalists have "bombarded" the Principal Council with a set of proposed technocratic committees. each committee is aligned to at least 1 ministry. One of these committees already existed, but an amendment was proposed to split it to form an additional Environmental Committee. In all, there were 9 committees proposed.

The Nationalists await the reactions of other members of the Principal Council, especially the Federalists who are in control of the government and managed to get Melanie Baumann elected as President.

Fertig Turns Eyes to Dolgava

Image

Edwin Fertig praises the Nationalist movement in Dolgava, and urges them to move even further with a "Nationalist religion" to compete with the foreign religions that try to imply that their gods are superior to Dolgava. "Purge them, even their religions," he said, "their religions and other institutions will only serve to be a colonial relic."

The Karavs plan to tour several countries, in what they consider an attempt to strengthen their relations with governments and other families. No official dates have been set, but some of the countries on the list were mentioned to Karav News by Jasmine Fertig:
- Indrala (marriage)
- Valruzia (marriage)
- Beluzia (Karavshire University)
- Deltaria (Sweatmelon Conflict)
- Saridan (Sweatmelon Conflict)
