Telamonogamy?

Han Fen has been in talks with nobles in Telamon, in the aims of setting up a marriage between Countess-General Speranta, and His Serene Highness Costel Peer Gjord. So far, efforts are seeming successful.

This is not the first marriage between nobles of Iker Ado and Telamon. Celeste Arinidi was Speranta's great great grandmother.
Celeste married Kristov II, and bore Kristov III. Kristov III was the father of Kristov IV. Kristov IV was the father of Kristov V, and Kristov V was Speranta's father.

Speranta "Not a Child"

Image

Speranta DeKarav, the daughter of the late Kristov V, is proving herself to be a potential political giant like her forefathers, from Kristov I to Kristov III.
She is no longer a child, Regent Han Fen insists. As proof, he showed how she deeply considered proposals before submitting them to the Beluz Union's federal legislature. Her influence on the central government is increasing, and while her family may not have the largest share of power, she sure knows how to command power from other families to support her interests. She brings back memories of the time the Karavs had less than 10% of the share of seats in the legislature, but still managed to hold the position of "High Count" when it had more power, and also managed to be the biggest influence on legislation.

Speranta has many years to build a political character. Already, she seems like the average Karav militarist. While seeming to distance herself from the Beluz Liberal Socialist Party (a civilian party that serves as the Karavs' main political support base), she is merely encouraging a reform of its policies and standings. She has maintained good relations with the party, but believes hardline Socialism won't work in Beluzia. She instead prefers to see a mixed economy where the private sector can flourish, but the government will still have an important role to play.

Dataks Family Sweeps Polls

The recent estate referendum gave the Dataks family more power. They now control 4 of 6 counties in the Beluz Union, and have over 55% of the votes within the electoral college for the High Count. They even managed to take Iker Ado from the Karavs, stripping Speranta from her title of "Countess-General of Iker Ado" - luckily, the family still controls Iliathar, and the Royaliwiths control Maddog.

Karavs Fund New Project

Karav University collaborated with the International Resource Center, with funding from the Karavs, to develop a project that could compare the economic statistics and rankings of all nations. It has been successful so far. All our readers are encouraged to get a copy as soon as possible.

Each nation's statistics were converted to BEL to allow comparison among them. This allows Economics students, in Beluzia, to gather information much more easily than the students in Mordusia. Mordusia's failed project, which was also funded by the Karavs, has influenced the success of this one. As of August 3462, the Karavs will subsidize the tuition fees (by up to 30%) of all students from Beluzia and Mordusia, given that they spend at least 1 year in civilian national service after school is complete. Karavs consider this a way of "giving back to the community," said Speranta DeKarav.

Libreality TV
Speranta DeKarav, while staying in a hotel for an ATR conference, accidentally made herself heard saying "Libreals should just quit politics and go on TV. They are quite entertaining, but I wouldn't trust them to govern a country. They should have Libreality TV, or something like that, about the party members' lives.

Developers Swat First Bug

Image

The first bug, in the student-made economics ranking charts that were recently released, was quickly squatted.
Apparently, whenever 2 nations tied for a rank, neither nation would appear in the spot. The system skipped both nations and left the spot blank.

The Economics Department, of the University of Karavshire, has recalled the original release, and encourages persons to use the new one instead. They apologize and promise that the new version "will serve the world" much better.

Karav Reserve?

KFS has released a new convertible currency, that they call the Karav Reserve which is allowed to float more than Terra's nation-based currencies, including the LOD. What was surprising was hat 1 RUT was worth more than 1 LOD when converted to KRV. When asked why, officials responded by saying that "Lodamun is in debt, so there is less demand for their currency at the moment. Additionally, they have more than 10% inflation, which also contributes to currency devaluation. Rutania is more stable at the moment, but the LOD can surpass the RUT again if Lodamun fixes its economy."
