Artanian Central Bank publishes its first series of the Artanian Mark

Schrudehofen, Dorvik - The new Artanian Central Bank which was created by the authority of the Artanian Union but operates independently has announced that the first series of the Artanian Mark has been produced and sent out to nations who have adopted the Artanian Mark. The new Artanian Mark was developed by the Artanian Union and the national central banks (NCBs) of AU member states. The Artanian Mark is slated to be an international reserve and trading currency, it was created after the crisis in Lodamun saw KFS' assets seized and downgraded. Though the KFS did not have much in terms of power with the LOD the recent barbaric actions of Lodamun has sent the financial and banking industry into a frenzy and called on the governments to creation something that would counter the LOD.

President of the Artanian Central Bank Hellmut Kruse, the new central bank of the Artanian Union as well as the creator and manager of the Artanian Mark announced that the Artanian Mark (ARM/ART) will be available immediately and governments can convert their funds to it through contacting the ACB. Hellmut Kruse is a former executive of Artanian Bank and the Dorvish-Majatran Bank where he worked closely with numerous governments on their loans and managed investment funds of numerous governments.

The new ART is slated at 1 ART = 1 LOD and governments can convert as such. President Hellmut Kruse stated that for member states they would be publishing direct and permanent conversion rates that will only change per agreement with the member state and the bank.

Lodamese Finance Minister Bashes "Artanian Finance Minister"
December 3872

Despite several countries imposing sanctions on Lodamun and its currency, and despite the fact that the Artanian Mark has been accepted as legal tender in multiple countries, the Finance Minister of Lodamun says that the policy of the Finance Ministry will be to deny the Artanian Mark "legal tender" status. While this is intended to save the currency and the country from isolation, it is instead catalysing the isolation. Lodamun's new government is so isolated that its Finance Minister thought that Artania was a single country with its own Finance Minister.

Responding to the decision of the Artanian Central Bank to issue its own currency, Carl Lexington said that "The Artanian Finance Minister is clearly doing this as a petty protest against Lodamun and the LOD, and his economy will suffer for it." This raises new questions about the competence of Lodamun's new government, especially the person responsible for directing fiscal and monetary policy which are the main foreign affairs concerns in Lodamun at the moment.

MPs struggled to contain their chuckling during the Finance Minister's blunder. The Lodamese government also continues to mislead its people, continuing to say that its exchange rate will change. The KFS has attempted to assure the people and government of Lodamun - at least 4 times - that exchange rates for the LOD will not be affected. Still, the government misleads the people so that it can justify its drastic measures like stealing money and assets from KFS, and banning the Artanian Mark from Lodamun.

Banks around the world wait to see how the President of the Artanian Central Bank will respond to this, or if he even considers it worthy of a response. Kevin Landau, the former Finance Minister of Lodamun who had been exiled to Indrala, said that Lodamun's new government is "digging itself into a deeper hole everyday."

Artanian Union Space Agency announces GPS.

Artanian Union Headquarters - The Director of the Artanian Union Space Agency Balogh Csombor announced today that the AUSP would be building and launching a sattelite into space that would provide global positioning services to the continent of Artanian and would merge all public data of member states with the central sattelite system. Director Csombor stated that with an investment by the Artanian Infrastructure Investment Bank the project was made possible, when questioned about the loan he simply deferred to a representative of the AIIB who stated that the loan was for 2b ART over a 5 year period with another 2b ART after the initial 5 years if the project had continued on time.

AUSP asked what companies would be providing support and Ebner AG, a Dorvish-based multinational telecommunications and electronics company was one of the primary sponsors who would be investing 1.5b ART (4.6b DDO) into the project itself. The total cost of the project is slated at being around 8m ART and is projected to be complete in 3970. President of the Artanian Union Jörn Erhard von Färber (Dorvik) stated that the project would benefit the entire continent and would see a huge boost in economies of the AU member states.

Darnussian Leave (Darnussix)

Darnussia has offically left the AU. Our leave also includes the end of AU treaties with Darnussia. The AU has had some importance during the Darnussian Reich (which has dissolved recently), therefore we still keep lower tariff rates with AU member states. We will also continue cooperating with the AUSP. One of our reasons to leave was that Darnussia wanted to be neutral and isolationist once again, our incompatibility with other Artanian countries and the fact that Dorvik has so much influence. Darnussia is once again not a member of the AU and it seems that it will not rejoin it soon as Darnussian markets quickly recovered. New deals, more control over the economy and independent investments had a positive effect on the economic growth of our country.

AU Regaining Relevance

The Artanian Union has been diminished to 5 member states in recent decades, but the Luthori Foreign Office has been pushing the organisation and its expansion hard since the Yes vote in the AU Referendum, and it appears to be working. The membership could be increased to 8, giving the Artanian Union double the members it had 5 years ago, and membership for a majority of nations in Artania.

The Demokratische Republik Aloria and Dundorfische Demokratische Republik are both set to join the organisation next year with enough votes for ratification in both nations. The Szövetségi Köztársaság Endralon (Federal Republic of Endralon) are holding a vote on ratification, which comes down to the wire in a vote over the next 7 months, a vote which the Foreign Secretary of Luthori said he hopes will pass 'as the AU can offer so much to Artania and Terra.'
