Dear Members:

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to address the Pan-Majatran Union Coalition. I have come to address certain misconceptions that members of this body, as well as others around the world, have about the Ahmadi Republic of Jelbania.

Since the death of the previous Hldjezim'm (Grand Imam), our government has taken a drastic turn away from radical Ahmadism in favor of a more moderate approach. While we are still a party that believes strongly in the precepts of Ahmadi law, we have repealed or liberalized several key pieces of legislation passed by the Juhnsrmko Grakkrt government.

In addition, we have outlawed slavery, a practice which, I might add, has existed in Jelbania long before the rise of the Ahmadi Republic.

Furthermore, we are in the process of ratifying the Majatra Anti-Slavery accord, a treaty which two of our main opponents for the Security Council, Vanuku and Zardugal, the latter of which drafted the treaty in the first place, are not signatories of.

We have undertaken a massive urbanization project, to help modernize our nation.

We have also moved Jelbania slightly toward the economic left, allowing for the possibilty of collective bargaining and union shops. In addition, we have legalized negotiation of salary caps, eliminated the sales tax on essential goods, and introduced a corporate tax.

Finally, please understand that while we have taken steps to align Jelbania with 42nd century values, we acknowledge that our work is far from done on that front. We will never agree fully with each member of this body, or with other parties worldwide, but our values and our political positions are constantly evolving. While we accept that we will not gain the support of the majority of the members of this organization, we do ask that you refrain from continuing to portray Jelbania as a hyper-religious slaver nation, as neither of those accusations are truthful.

Thank you once again for this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Husn Camlsrmko Grakkrt, Jelbanian Mnistr for Foreign Affairs
Coaliție Unitate Centru
A sensible alternative for all of the Confederation's peoples.
