HDI expresses "serious concern" for religious situation in Dundorf
Igor Kubina, the recently appointed secretary of the Valruzia-based Hosian Democratic International has issued a statement expressing his organisation's "serious concern at anti-Hosian persecution in Dundorf, and the increasingly tense and ugly situation that is clearly developing there". He has called on "respecters of religious liberty everywhere - governments, politicians, businesses, individuals, everyone - to do all they can to put pressure on the regime in Dundorf to end its anti-religious policies".
"Being free to practice your faith - or for that matter to practice no faith - is a fundamental liberty, a key part of what it means to be a human being," he added. "Religious liberty is a birthright that no government has the right do deny".
Against a background of claims that some Hosians may be turning to violent extremism, Kubina also warned Hosians in Dundorf against "reactions that are unethical, excessive and counter-productive", but assured them that "the world outside Dundorf has not forgotten you - we stand with you, and we are following this very, very carefully indeed".
