Herlkai Bókkatéz, Leader of the Majatran Reform Party (MRP):

Whilst we welcome other nation states wishing to join the MUN, either as an observer state or a full member, we feel the need to ask the Kalopian ambassador why his country believes it necessary to allow Northern Council nuclear capable bombers to be based in his country? This deal is potentially jeopardising the security of all Majatran nations and does not chime with Kalopia saying it wishes to remain neutral in terms of military involvement and defence.

I encourage the Kalopian nation to ditch this arrangement.

Zetes Artinos, Kalopian Ambassador to the MUN

While the Kalopian Government understands Delegate Bókkatéz's concern for Majatran security and for peace, we reserve the right to allow any state to maintain a military base on our sovereign territory. Kalopia wishes to remain outside of the military component of the MUN precisely due to our already existing commitments to the Northern Council.
However, our absence from the MAA does not effect the capacity of my Government and the MUN to cooperate economically and politically to ensure peace and free trade within the Majatran continent. Hence we seek a relationship with the MUN short of direct membership of the MAA while still enabling us to work together to establish long standing economic and political ties with your organisation.

Kelinu Demaria, President of the Grand Conservative Party of Majatra (GCPM)

Honorouble representative of the Kalopian government, even though the GCPM respects your decision to apply for an observer status within this organization we are concerned about the fact you prefer the Northern Council, which is a organization that has its leaders thousands of kilometers from majatra, over the MUN, which is a organization to strengthen Majatra and make it a peacefull and thriving continent. Why does the honorouble representative from Kalopia see the necessity for a Northern Council base on majatran soil? If the honorouble representative wants to work together with our organization to ensure peace and wealth in majatra as he so claims then why would his country support a foreign military base on majatran land knowing that it could become a point of tension among majatran nations and in possible future conflict. Could the honorouble gentleman react on that?

In addition to this we want to show our support to future action of the president on this issue and give him the GCPM's full backing in negotiating an end to this base. Furthermore we would like the president to give us an update on the situation in Jelbania as soon as he can. Thank you.

Dan Laski, Leader of the Majatran Liberal Socialist Party (MLS)

The MLS finds that it is of a similar opinion to both the GCPM and the MRP. The Northern Council is, if I may be frank, one of the largest potential threats to continental security, continental peace and the MUN itself. Kalopia can not be seen as neutral with the current deal in place, for allowing the Council a military base on the continent does not equate to military neutrality, but is rather a statement of support for one side over the other.

We would like to join our fellow assembly members in the GCPM by giving the president the Majatran Liberal Socialist Party's full support for negotiating the closure of the Northern Council's base.

Zetes Artinos, Kalopian Ambassador to the MUN

Kalopia's relationship to the Northern Council is one born of centuries of conflict. They have supported our nation over the past few decades far more than MUN members have for centuries. We Kalopian's are a proud people, we do not forget our friends... or our enemies. We seek peace and security and at present my Government's security problems have been solved almost solely through Northern Council assistance. My country intends to eventually become security dependent, but at the present moment the NC is our sole supporter in the region.
My nation sent me however to discuss investment and economic development, not to discuss the military arrangements of powers far greater than our own. We can all gain from a profitable arrangement in Kalopia and Majatra as a whole. I ask on you to forget fantastical conflicts and focus instead on the deal I intend to broker.

Kelinu Demaria, President of the Grand Conservative Party of Majatra (GCPM)

So what the honorouble representative is attempting to say is that he wants to pick the fruits from the economies of the MUN member states but does not want to fight the hard fight to secure a peacefull, durable and free majatra? This is not a free gift shop representative Bókkatéz. What you basically say to us is that kalopia does not believe in the combined strength of majatra and in its freedom and that Kalopia only wants to take advantage of the free trade zone that was created to stimulate further majatran intergration. It is Kalopia's own decision to be a mere puppet of the Northern Council but the GCPM is of the opinion that the accusations made by Kalopia are not righteous. The MUN was created to create a stronger, united Majatra. What happened in the past is over and we need to look for the future.

The GCPM is of the opinion that Kalopia should, like all other member and observer states, take its responsibility and trust the nations of majatra by discontinuing the NC base on their soil.

Herlkai Bókkatéz, Leader of the Majatran Reform Party (MRP):

Given that Kazulia is now looking to strengthen its economic ties with Kalopia in order to cling on to its base in that nation, it is clearly obvious that money is the driving force in this particular relationship.

Despite what the ambassador said, Kalopia has nothing to fear security-wise but could be at a pecuniary disadvantage should Kazulia pull out. That means they are putting the security of all fellow Majatran nations at threat for the lure of a few billion Wantuni.

My belief is that we should send a strong message to the government in Helios.

We should tell them that the advantages of free trading opportunities with MUN members far outweigh the opportunities on the table from a country far away in the frozen north. Therefore, should they continue to allow this base to exist the opportunity to join the MUN either as a permanent member or an observer state is off the table due to a conflict of interests. That would cost them 10s of billions of Wantuni in potential revenue every year.

Mr Speaker, I suggest we vote on this - the motion being Kalopia is not allowed to join the MUN as a full member, or an observer, until it has taken the decision to stop hosting Northern Council armed forces in its nation and given them access to its military bases.
