Former Foreign Minister Cullen Scrivenor has been delegated, by President Johnson, to represent Lodamun in this conference.

His Royal Highness Prince Sima Shan, preferring to use his Egelion title while in Egelion, entered the conference room dressed in traditional Egelion regalia, a white military uniform with a red sash across his torso and a blue sash around his waist. The aging man stared at everyone in the room, nodding to each delegate as a sign of thanks for their presence.

Before beginning his speech, prepared by mandarins at Tian'an no doubt, the prince gave off a friendly smile, assuring those less confident about the Commonwealth that their feelings were all for naught. Sima briefly glanced at his outline, beginning with a clearing of the throat.

"Honorable delegates, We are delighted to have you all here in the glorious nation of Egelion. The Egelion people have been so kind as to welcome Us all to their nation, exhibiting etiquette beyond measure.

Throughout this conference We shall hear many things, ranging from economics to culture to military affairs. These talks are an act of brotherhood and unity. No delegation here is superior to another. We must all work together to benefit the people of the Commonwealth, for that is the noblest of goals.

Again, thank you all for attending this magnificent conference. We are sure that many issues will be resolved and positive developments will ensue. Thank you."

One of our first concerns was our ability to maintain our own status of sovereignty. We thanked the Emperor (on behalf of all of his realms) for allowing an amendment to the treaty that allowed republics.

Our next concern, however, is something else we consider to be violation of our sovereignty; we do not want to sign a Mutual Defence Pact with any other government. We want to have the right to decide what side to take in wars, on a case by case basis.

Cullen Scrivenor,
Representative of the Prince in Exile
