Senate of the Democratic Republic of Solentia
Select Committee on Investigations

Pursuant to a recently passed "Senate Resolution to Establish a Senate Committee on Investigations" (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=434799), the Senate has established this investigative committee to fully examine the assassination of President Kaiser Chann. The committee will be tasked with reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and writing an official report on the incident.

Rules of the Committee:
- Members will only speak when recognized by the chair
- Members must seal recognition of the chair before speaking (see instructions below)
- Members may only ask a witness a maximum of two question per turn
- Members will yield to the chair, or any member who posses the floor
- At least two members must be present in order for the meetings to proceed
- Members who miss two consecutive meetings will be removed from the committee


Outline for a committee session:
1.) The Chair will review the happening of the prior meeting
2.) Members will be able to make short speeches before the meeting officially begins
3.) Witnesses scheduled for the day will meet with committee
4.) Evidence requested by the committee will be reviewed
5.) Members may submit their requests for the next day's witnesses/evidence
6.) The Chair will review the happenings of the day
7.) Members may make short concluding speeches
8.) The chair will adjourn the meeting and schedule the committee's next meeting.


Seeking recognition to speak or question a witness:
In order to be recognized by the chair, a member must submit a request to the chair using the following form:

Motion: recognition by chair
Name: [Name of Senator and party]
Purpose: [reason for recognition]


Motions: in addition to requesting recognition, members may also make the following motions:

- Motion to adjourn (end committee session)
- Motion to extend remarks (ask more questions of a witness, speak for a longer period of time)
- Motion to enter a direct dialogue (directly address another member of the floor for a period of time)
- Motion to dismiss witness/evidence (dismiss the witness and move onto next witness/article of evidence)

Agenda of the Committee:

- Elect a chair of the committee
- Establish a list of witnesses and articles of evidence the committee wishes to review
