The Allied Conference on Lourenne

Postby hts » Fri Jun 05, 2015 8:24 pm

The Allied Conference on Lourenne will be held Walvisplek, the capital of Saridan.

The conference will hopefully formulate a plan on dealing with the situation in Lourenne.
“The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.”

Thomas Van Locklan rises from his seat and begins to speak.

Before any military action is taken, we should await the elections in Lourenne. If the opposition, Action Lourennais, wins then political change may come to Lourenne. If not then military action may once again be necessary.

Thomas Van Locklan rises from his seat and replies,

I have been in contact with the party, and they have promised to make reforms where it is possible. Constitutional reforms such as renaming the Legislature from it's atrocious current name, the "Racial Syndicate", will likely be out of reach because it is doubtful that they will hold 2/3rds of the legislature. Howevr, they have assured us that if they gain power, change is on the way.

Bishop Wvolfe, remaining seated, replies.

We cannot wait for this process to be solved through Lourenne's democratic traditions. These traditions have already been trampled upon by the New Reaction Party. Thus military intervention is the most effective way to handle this. This party in Lourenne must be made an example of, intervening now solves the problem and sends a message to other potential dictators in Terran.
