The General Secretary rises (OOC: slightly before Carmichael to make this seem more logical), clears his throat and addresses the Security Council.
"Honoured representatives, please step forward and introduce yourself to all present on the Security Council. I myself am Philippus Kruger, the General Secretary, besides me is Werner Horch, the Committee Chairman. We will be leading the Security Council and addressing all pressing issues. Thank you mister Carmicheal for your introduction, next up is the representative from Vanuku I see."

The Vanukean representative nods and stands up.
"Thank you, General Secretary, my name is prince Aldrkai Banmek-Sntazed, second son of King Wrntukai III and chosen representative to the Security Council's Seat E."

OOC: I have been chosen by the RP Team and Moderation to represent the General Secretary. I also somehow (no idea how) won Seat E and will thus also be representing Vanuku. I already wish to say that I will do everything to avoid any bias, I have intentions to make Vanuku the "bad guy" of the Council and the General Secretary won't like that very much.

To introduce the General Secretary and the Committee Chairman:

General Secretary of the Security Council Philippus T. Kruger

Philippus Tinus Kruger is a former Saridani politician known as one of the more moderate and pragmatic members of the National Party. Kruger is a career politician known not for his opinions but for his determination to get things done. According to experts Kruger has no real political colour, being known as the ultimate centrist by his former Saridani colleagues. The Kruger family consists of a long line of wealthy landowners and industrial farmers and with modern investments the family is considered quite wealthy, this has also enabled Kruger to be a philantropist, contributing to several charities across the globe. The General Secretary is known as a just leader and a fair and skilled negotiator, unlike his second in command he is not involved in any controversies.

Committee Chairman of the Security Council Werner Horch

Werner Horch is a former lawyer and bureaucrat from the Dorvish Republic. Over a long career spanning two decades Horch has represented high profile clients in major scandals and cases, often marking his victories in a rather sleazy way. After his successful career as a well-known lawyer for criminals and celebrities in Dorvik Horch started to focus on politics but refused to join any party, instead making himself comfortable within the wheels of local government. Horch became the go to man for setting up new government projects, Dorvish newspapers often referred to Horch as the "celebrity civil servant". Horch is known for his pragmatic style of leadership with the classic Dorvish directness and stiffness, diplomacy is not his strongest asset but Horch always gets the deal done. During his career as a professional high ranking civil servant Horch has often been accused of corruption but none of these cases ever yielded any result. His connections with politicians, wealthy celebrities and even well-known criminals made his nomination for Committee Chairman of the Security Council a quickly done deal. Dorvik is glad to be rid of this snake, now he is the problem of the Security Council.

As you can see one is a neutral and just diplomat, the other a rather corrupt individual. I personally hope this will generate some nice RP. I hope the other nations will also introduce themselves here!

General Secretary, Mr Committee Chairman of the Security Council, Honoured representatives,

I'm Giovanni Paolo Fulgi, Plenipotentiary of Istalia designed by my Government. What an honor it's to be here. I hope we will be able to work together to assure peaceful dialogues and relations between the Nations of Terra and to solve all possible conflicts around the table of the World Congress which, however, I hope will be also brave enough to stand up to the wrongs and evictions and to defend the nations of the Terra from all those threats that could make them victims of war and crimes.
Thank you

Istalian Ambassador Giovanni Paolo Fulgi

Giovanni Paolo Fulgi
Born in Porto Selueco (Silicia) in 4057, son of Sebastian Fulgi, who was deputy of PSLI from 4071 to 4083, he graduated with honors in Law in 4079 at the University of Palerno, then took a master's degree in comparative law at the University of Romula in 4081 and finally followed the Diplomatic Course at the Institute of International Law of the Foreign Ministry in view of the diplomatic competitive examination.
During his long diplomatic career, Fulgi served Istalia in major World capitals like Ishinawa, Labonne, Iassius and Petrovgrad and Majatrans too as Dawnstar, Florentia and Eksandr.
In 4095 he became General Secretary of the Executive Committee on Security and Intelligence (CESI) - the surveillance and coordination authority of Istalian intelligence services - covering this office until 4099 when, after having closely followed the events related to the threat of the Battistian Brigades, decides to return to diplomatic service becoming Istalian representative into the Majatran Union.
Following joined the staff of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Francesco Toso acting as his right-hand during the campaign for the Seat B to the Security Council but also leading the negotiations that bring to the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Selucia and the Treaty of Friendship with Badara.
He is known for his resolute but frankly way of acting, which gave him respect even by politicians who directly experienced his determination in pursuing a role not subordinate of Istalia on the international stage.

General Secretary, Members of the Security Council, Distinguished Guests,

My name is Ambassador Oscar Machado. I served as head Ambassador in the Kalistan for C campaign, and have been recently elected by the Governing Caucuses in Kalistan to serve as the Ambassador from the United Republic of Kalistan. It is with humility that I rise to speak in the presence of such an august body. My goal for our work here is to promote peace and equality among the countries of the world. I cannot pretend my nation is perfect, but in my tenure, I will seek comity and pragmatism as we attempt to deal with the problems facing Terra at this time. Together, I believe we are equal to the task set before us. I look forward to working with you all, and to listening to the words of the Nations in the General Assembly as we work together to ensure peace and equality in our world. Thank you for your time.

Oscar Machado, initially representing the Labour Party during the Kalistan for C campaign, was elected handily to be Kalistan's first Ambassador to the Security Council in early October 4115.

Members of the Security Council,

We are now well into our first term of office, yet we have made little progress in our quest to establish a safer and more just world for all Terran citizens. Therefore, as Kalistan's Ambassador, I am bringing the following motion before the Security Council for other members consideration.

The Security Council of the World Congress hereby recognises that slavery and the slave trade are inherently evil practices which are to be utterly condemned. Furthermore, nations, organisations and individuals which turn a blind eye are failing in their duty to eradicate these disgusting practices. To this end, the Security Council of the World Congress issues official condemnation against the Ameliorate Republic of Saridan and the Fascist Kingdom of Deltaria which permit slavery and the slave trade to exist in their respective nations.

Member of the Security Council,

As General Secretary I fully agree with the ambassador from Kalistan, it is time we move forward and start handling proposals. I shall not issue my judgement over the proposal and remain neutral. All nations are urged to state their opinion publicly or privately. The ambassador of Vanuku, the prince Aldrkai, has already given Vanuku's stance on this issue. They will be supporting it. I commend the ambassador of Kalistan for bringing forward this proposal, it is a growing issue that continues to cause controversy amongst the nations, the most recent case before this of course being the campaign of Jelbania for Seat B. Either way, I do wish to make it very clear that I distance myself from my cousin in Saridan. His opinions do not reflect those of mine nor of those of my close family.

Other members are encouraged to voice their opinion or cast their vote.

Members of the Security Council,

We believe this resolution is important and noble and we support its intentions. However, we believe the proposal is too narrow in its language and does not go far enough in leveraging the influence of the Security Council and the World Congress to eradicate this wretched scourge. Our Kalistani colleague, who is held in high esteem in my country, acknowledges the repellent evil of these acts but characterizes them as mere practices. With great respect to our colleague Ambassador Machado, this is not a 'practice,' but rather the vilest crime known to man. In her days as a legislator, the President Pro Tempore of the Hawu Mumenhes legislature famously said:

Akusaa NeferkheperuSewehneb wrote:The unconscionable crime of slavery is perhaps the greatest crime against humanity for in its evil is permitted all the vilest of evils known to humanity: kidnap, torture, rape . . . the horrors are unspeakable. And we as lovers of humanity and as the righteous of Taphmei must be on the side of the victims of this evil crime, supporting them in their efforts to defeat and prosecute their criminal captors.

Our appointment to this Security Council, gentlemen, is a sign of the great esteem in which our nations and our governments are held. It is also a sign of the trust placed in us by the world that our governments and our nations have the capacity to not only to advocate and declare, but more importantly to implement and enable. The Free Kingdom of Hawu Mumenhes does not argue that this resolution should declare war or peace -- that is the province of sovereign democratic governments, not the World Congress. But we as leaders of the world must be prepared to both act on our words and enable the larger community of nations to act as well. That means a resolution that not only condemns this vilest of crimes but also prescribes efforts that member nations can take and that Security Council members will take to eradicate it and prosecute it perpetrators and beneficiaries.

Further, while we thank the Kalistan Ambassador for proposing this resolution and taking initiative to draw the Security Council's attention to this urgent matter, I and the Free Kingdom would urge him to not forget the horrors wrought after the nominal conclusion of these crimes. Witness for instance the outrages in Likatonia and the ongoing barbarism of the Malivian regime. And recall the words of Hawu Mumenhes President Chapman on these abominations:

President Darian Chapman wrote:The wretched Likatonians and the vile Luthorians of the East Artania Company have brought war to our door, though like jackals and cowards they hide from open declarations of war and harm the young and the old, and prop up their own shallow egos with the most reprehensible crimes against those kidnapped from their families as babes and now grown into adults deprived of liberty, hope, justice, and self-actualization.

I quote again, "kidnapped as babes and now . . . deprived of liberty, hope, justice, and self-actualization," after the end of statutory de jure enslavement. After. The kidnap has ended, but the torture, the murder, and the political imprisonment have not. They are ongoing. And the horrendous aftermath of these crimes is everywhere and unspeakable in Likatonia and Malivia: harassment, corruption of equal protection and free assembly and free expression, assault, vandalism, theft and murder by omission and commission of the state. I will be bringing resolutions forward to specifically address the regimes in Likatonia and Malivia after the vote on the current resolution is concluded. But I would ask his excellency the Kalistani Ambassador to please consider and accept these amendments to his important resolution to address these matters and the earlier mentioned issues:

The Security Council of the World Congress hereby recognises that slavery and the slave trade are inherently evil [strike]practices[/strike] crimes which are to be utterly condemned. Furthermore, nations, organisations and individuals which turn a blind eye are failing in their duty to eradicate these disgusting [strike]practices[/strike] crimes. To this end, the Security Council of the World Congress issues official condemnation against the Ameliorate Republic of Saridan and the Fascist Kingdom of Deltaria which permit slavery and the slave trade to exist in their respective nations[strike].[/strike], hereby demands that Saridan and Deltaria immediately release all people within their jurisdictions from illegal bondage, hereby demands that enslaved persons or their heirs be compensated by the Saridan and Deltarian governments for their ordeals, hereby demands that the governments of Saridan and Deltaria immediately implement statutory overhauls to eradicate the culture of slavery and all its attendant crimes and customs from their respective societies, hereby directs General Secretary Kruger to conduct fact-finding and humanitarian aid missions to Saridan and Deltaria to ensure the cooperation and compliance of their respective governments, and hereby calls upon and encourages all Member Nations, their agents, citizens, civil societies, and aid groups to contribute to, support, and defend the General Secretary's mission by all due means.
