Full Democracy: A full democracy on the Terran Democracy Index is a state where freedom of expression, religion, press and assembly are guarenteed through either law or the constitution. A state where a full democratic system has been in place for most of its history and elections are held freely and fairly. A full democracy holds itself accountable and is a pillar of freedom and democracy within Terra. It is often represented by a multitude of parties in their respective parliament and protects the fundamental democratic rights of its citizens. It is a resilient and capable democratic power.

Flawed Democracy: A flawed democracy is a state where basic freedoms like the freedom of expression, religion, press and assembly are guarenteed by law but (possibly) sometimes questioned by the executive power or another authority of the state. A nation can also be classified as a flawed democracy if only one party has, over the course of decades, dominated the political scene of the country and little to no opossition has formed itself. In flawed democracies generally free elections take place but are in some cases influenced by pressure from societal groups or government institutions.

Hybrid Regime: A hybrid regime is a government that actively opposses basic freedoms like freedom of expression, religion, press and assembly either oppossing all of these rights or a few of them. Hybrid regime's often influence elections directly to benefit the ruling class or party. Democracy is present, but in a limited form and the democratic system is often rigged and corrupt. A regime where a specific non elected individual is granted extensive powers is also deemed a hybrid regime if the government below him or her is deemed partially democratic. A hybrid regime is often recognizable by a rigged electoral system, the supression of basic freedoms and either one or a handfull of individuals controlling large layers of the government.

Dictatorial Regime: A dictatorial regime is a regime that supresses its people in every sense of the word. Freedom of religion, expression, press and assembly is practically non-existent and a large state apparatus ensures that minorities and any form of oppossition is supressed. In dicatorial regimes there is no instance of democracy present in the system, with most if not all power consolidated within the ruling party, the ruler or a group of influential individuals. A dictatorial regime disregards human rights and the basic freedoms of its citizens and rules with an iron fist.

Reason for clasification: Deltaria has moved quickly on the political scene. Despite its first period as a communist nations being one of relative freedom and peace, the last 20 years have seen Deltaria descend into a full on dictatorship, with the Communist Party of Deltaria holding most if not all of the political power in the country. While at the municipal level free elections are held, they are still pressured by party influence. Furthermore the bodies of the communist party, namely the central committee and Politburo, have centralized all power in themselves, with help from the General-Secretary Valerie Volf who herself has strictly held onto power. While in its name the word "federation" is still present the Communist Party has consolidated so much power that Deltaria resembles a centralized, dictatorial state. With internet shutdown from the outside worlds, party influence felt in ever facet of life and the military helping the regime maintaining power Deltaria can only be described as a dictatorial regime.

Reason for clasification: Vanuku has a long history of hybrid regime's, with its monarchy being extremely influential in politics for most of its history. Recently however the nation has shifted, with a new government in power that has taken away most power from the monarch and are in the process of establishing a fully constitutional system, different from the previous semi-constitutional structure. While there are still many bumps ahead in the road the TDI classifies Vanuku as a Flawed Democracy, giving it the benefit of the doubt and a encouragement to continue its democratization process.

Reason for clasification: Dorvik has long held the spot as a Hybrid Regime within the TDI, with its authoritarian sways to the right and its monarchy inspiring unnatural nationalism in parts of its political scene that obstacle has largely been cleared. Dorvik has turned into a republic, with the old aristocracy seeing its power dissapear and a new democratic order taking shape. There are challenges ahead, with new nationalist parties seeing a re-emergence, but the last few decades have proven that Dorvik can be a resilient democracy on the global stage, being now classified as a Flawed Democracy.

Reason for Classification: Deltaria came from a dark period of its history. The so called "decades of decay" plunged the country into chaos as continious switches in government and ideology caused the nation its position as the central hub in Majatra to be threatened. But, by a thin thread, it survived and transformed into a new democratic order. The Deltarian Federation through a multitude of hard reforms has now transformed into a democracy. Its past still haunts it at times, and reforms have yet to be fully completed as relics of the past sometimes encourage corruption in lower echelons of government. But as time progresses, these transitional issues slowly get fixed and the new democratic government has already reasserted itself on the international stage, signing trade deals and diplomatic initiatives and becoming a member of the security council once more. It is on the path of democratic recovery.

Reason for Classification: The Kitembo Union, consisting of Liore and Kurageri, has slowly developed into a strong democracy amidst autocratic neighbours. For decades Liore especially was a hybrid regime, with strong authoritarian tendencies and a lack of freedom. In the last few years, the liberal democratic order in the KU has prevailed, and strong democratic institutions have started to develop. While its authoritarian past still lingers, mostly in the form of former autocratic political parties that are still operational, its new form is starting to take shape and its democratic journey is seemingly only starting.

Reason for Classification: Yingdala, in our previous ranking, was considered a flawed democracy, with its democratic institutions strengthening day by day. Recently however, the reintroduction of the monarchy and a series of anti democratic measures have caused the nation to once again fall under the "Hybrid" category. Its ruling noble class once again holds major influence over politics. While there is a democratic process, its influence on decisionmaking in the country is minimal and Yingdalan democratic institutions have eroded in favour of noble controlled hierarchal structures. The Emperor is as strong as ever and holds massive sway in the Yingdalan political landscape. If this continious, Yingdala is well on its way into becoming a Dictatorial regime as democratic norms continue to be violated.

Notable Changes

North Dovani
From Flawed Democracy to Hybrid Regime

Reason:
North Dovani its recent changes into the USSR have practically created a hybrid regime in which some elements are elected and others appointed and strictly controlled by the Worker's Party. This thus means that it cant be classified as either dictatorial or a democracy, thus being a hybrid regime

Dankuk
From Hybrid Regime to Dictatorial Regime

Reason:
Dankuk has undergone a transition from a relatively stable yet corrupt Dovanian state to a full on far-right dictatorship, prosecuting its own minorities and establishing strict control on power with no elections taking place. It is thus now a fully dictatorial state

Valruzia
From Flawed Democracy to Dictatorial Regime

Reason:
Valruzia has been a democratically governed state for a majority of its existence but has, in recent decades, gotten under the control of the United Worker's Party, which has cemented its political power. Without international institutions like the Seleyan Union to keep the UWP in check and Valruzia on the right path it has descended into a left-wing dictatorship with its head of state a non elected, appointed for life functionary. Thus earning the classification of a dictatorial state
