Holy Luthori Imperial Delegation Visits Indrala

Everything had been set. The decoration glorifying both the Holy Luthori Empire and the Great Commonwealth and Empire of Indrala were perfectly placed. Zhongjing International Airport was bristling with security forces and surrounded by members of the Imperial Guard. Nothing could be allowed to go wrong, which would set back relations between the only sane Gao-Showan-Han-Kyo nation in all of Terra and one of the most powerful nations in the West. Indeed, East-West relations would most likely be at the top of the agenda concerning the talks between Emperor Gustavus II and the Holy Luthori Imperial Delegation and the ruling government of the Great Commonwealth and Empire of Indrala.

These are dark times indeed for Dovani and all of the Gao-Showan-Han-Kyo nations. It is imperative for Indrala to ally itself with western nations, especially monarchies. No one could fortell Indrala's future, but if the monarchy is to survive, the Imperial Clan of Liu and the Great Xinhan Dynasty must reach out to those with similar views.

Near the private airstip designated for domestic and government use only stood a crowd of happy Indralans waving both the flag of Indrala and the Holy Luthori Empire. The people seemed just as eager as the government of Indrala to build a strong friendship with their Western cousins. Atop a dais in the middle of crowd sat Emperor Huifu, Empress Megumi, and their children Crown Princess Liu Feng and Prince Liu Long. Along with the Imperial Family stood Viceroy Xiao Xin and Chancellor Zhuge Luo. All of them were dressed in traditional Southern Indralan dress, which were historic descendents of clothing from the original Great Xinhan Empire and Dynasty. Next to the Imperial Family was a replica of the Holy Luthori throne and various gifts from the Government of Indrala. They would all be shortly joined by the members of the Kuomintang and Clan Deng.

The descending Luthori aircraft caused the crowd to go wild.

October 1st, 2981

The Emperor's personal transport, Crown One, flanked by an impressive escort of fighter jets, entered Indralan air space in the early hours of the day. The 76 year old Emperor looked out the window and saw a beautiful coastline of white sandy beaches. Further inland, there were small villages with gracious Buddhist temples and impressive Orthodox Churches and still further, large bustling cities. About an hour later, Crown One landed at Zhongjing airport. The Imperial delegation exited the plane onto the tarmac where they were greeted by a large Indrala delegation. The first impression the Luthorians had of Indrala was of a hot country. It was 2°C in Fort William and nearly 30°C in Indrala.

The crowd went crazy as the Emperor of Luthori and Alduria exited his private jet. Fireworks went off in the distance, turning parts of the clear blue sky shades of white, gold, and red. Flags were being waved at a fast rate, noting the enthusiasm of the roaring mob of Indralans. No one seemed to care about the weather, only the fact that the leader of one of the most recognizable monarchies in all of Terra was walking right towards them. Immediately, the Imperial Family of the Great Xinhan Empire and Co-Rulers of Indrala stood, their golden robes glittering in the sunlight. Very courteously, each member bowed towards the Luthori delegation, welcoming them to their lands.

"On behalf of all of Indrala, I welcome you to our home, a home to all of our friends!", shouted Viceroy Xiao Xin. He had to play his role as independently as possible, careful not to alert any of the opposition that he was simply a puppet of Emperor Huifu.

The Emperor clocked to attention and in a move that had been drilled to him by years of military service and which he now only performed to foreign monarchs, he executed a perfect military bow, which was flawlessly repeated by his retainers and councilors. All of them had served in the military at some point and many held distinguished and high ranks before moving on to politics. The Emperor had very short grey hair and piercing blue eyes. He wore the traditional Luthorian regal outfit, a very dark red suit covered with a large white overcoat left open to reveal his medals, rank insignia and massive crucifix. His political advisors wore similarly ostentatious and exquisite suit and overcoat while his military retainers were dressed in perfect dark grey or crimson uniforms.

"On behalf of Holy Luthor I must say I am delighted to be here and finally visit this beautiful country and meet its fine rulers. I wonder if we could possibly broker a deal which includes our importing of some of your weather? It would be a very nice change of pace for us considering the temperature in Luthori is between -10 and 10 degrees all year. Shall we proceed?"

The smiling Emperor spoke with a very distinct Luthorian upper class accent which was practically exclusive to the members of the royalty and nobility. Needless to say, the aging monarch of Luthori greatly wanted to improve relations with Indrala. Good relations between House Liu and House Orange-Villayn would prove mutually beneficial by giving Indrala a much needed bridge to the west and by giving Luthori a much needed Gao-Showan ally, an ethnic group that until now had provided more enemies than allies to Luthori.

At the moment Emperor Gustavus II bowed in return to the Imperial Family, a large group of honor guards dressed in traditional Xinhan armor and carrying traditional straight swords gathered in a straight line along each side of the yellow carpet that led from Luthori jet to the dais on which the Indralan delegation was situated. Beneath the traditional armor were bulletproof vests and semi-automatic weapons. In unison the honor guard yelled, "Your Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty, Emperor Gustavus II, We are at your service!"

During this small charade, a large motocade came to a halt in from of Zhongjing International Airport to carry the Indralan and Luthori officials off to the Endless Palace, the largest palace complex in all of Indrala and arguably in Dovani.

Again, Emperor Huifu bowed, the long strands of beads that hung from his coronet hit one another, making a small clicking sound. The sound was, however, drowned out by the laughter of the Indralan delegation regarding Emperor Gustavus's joke.

"Your Imperial Majesty, We would love to export some of Our weather to the mighty Holy Luthori Empire. In fact, We would desire to know what cold weather feels like for more than one day. It very rarely gets below ten degrees here. We are sure that Our people would love to see a white snowfall, but enough with the pleasantries. Please, take a seat in this replica of the Holy Luthori Imperial Throne. We hope that it is as accurate as possible. We want Your Imperial Majesty and the entire Luthori delegation to feel at home here in Indrala, which is why We have outfitted the Endless Palace with traditional Luthori decor."

Huifu paused for a moment, in awe that a Western power even desired to visit Indrala since the Great Sekowan War, but also wondering where the leadership of the Kuomintang and members of Clan Deng were.

"Perhaps We could all pose for a few official photographs while we wait for the members of Clan Deng and the Kuomintang? We are sure they will be here as promptly as possible and apologize for their tardiness. We are still trying to work out an official marriage agreement between Our two Clans, but We are sure that this does not interest you."

Even the crowd grew impatient. No one expected ill-manners from the Kuomintang or Clan Deng. This was highly unusual.

"Yes of course, photographs would be grand" said the Emperor, "although eventually if the representatives from Clan Deng and the Kuomintang are indisposed, there should be no worries and we should proceed to the palace." The Luthorian sovereign exchanged a quick glance with Earl Laap, one of his oldest retainers and a very clever fellow. Naturally both of them were aware of the deteriorating situation between Clan Liu and Clan Deng and the symbolism of such a large snub as to not greet the Emperor was obvious.

After a while, it became clear that none from either Clan Deng or the Kuomintang would show. If the Emperor Gustavus was displeased or angry, he certainly did not show it, remaining of a cheerful and jolly disposition. He finally told the viceroy: "Well it does seem that your good friends are indisposed. No matter, we shall see them later. That being said, shall we get moving, its close to noun and I'm getting very hungry and am impatient to taste what I'm sure is delicious Indralan cuisine!"

OOC: bump, also Gustavus will die in a year so this meeting will technically be in the past.

Huifu nodded towards his cousin-in-law, posing with him for hundreds of photos of a simple handshake and bow. "Just a few more photos and We may leave. There is a motorcade waiting for us outside of the airport. We hope that it is satisfactory to Your Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty's needs, of course there will be extra due to the lack of appearance by Clan Deng and the Kuomintang." Talk of the tension in Indrala would have to wait until the two sovereigns reached the Endless Happy Palace. There, they could speak in total privacy and silence.

At the sound of Gustavus's declaration, the entire Indralan delegation smiled, clearly happy that the Emperor of Luthori mentioned food, for Huifu would not have pushed lunch upon the foreign delegation as many in Indrala felt that guests should ultimately make all of the decisions when visiting. "Well," stated Viceroy Xiao, "Let us go to Weiyang!"

Moments after the Viceroy's statement, both delegations exited the airport and entered the secure arms of the motorcade. Helicopters and fighter jets would fly above the parading vehicles for extra security. While the ride was not too long, only around a half-hour, the utmost security was needed. Nothing could go wrong.

Near the end of the journey, a large town came into view, one that looked as if it was stuck in Ancient Indrala. At the very center of the town was an enormous palace complex, arguable the largest in Dovani. It was at least the size of a city-state and completely embodied the imperial culture of Indrala. Within the palace, a banquet was waiting for the Emperor of Luthori and the Emperor of the Great Xinhan Empire and Dynasty, a banquet that would act as a table for discussion about the current situation in Indrala.

Emperor Gustavus and his retainers followed Emperor Huifu and his procession into the palace. The Emperor noted with amusement that architects had used many of the same techniques used for Orange Palace back home to give it an imposing and dominating aura. They were both almost religious structures, shrines, no cathedrals dedicated to the worship of what many argued had become, at least in Luthori and probably also in Indrala, akin to a God-Emperor. After having been guided through maze like and beautiful corridors, the dignitaries finally arrived at the banquet hall. Most of the escorts and retainers left. Only the Earl Laap, the Emperor's most trusted friend and ally and the Earl Halifax, a bright and keen new retainer the Emperor had taken a liking to remained with the Indralan sovereign. As dozens of servants brought many delicious looking dishes, Emperor Gustavus finally addressed Emperor Huifu.

"Well cousin" he said, as all monarchs were cousins, "you have beautiful and prosperous land and we must assure that it continues to grow under your guiding hand. Of course I will do everything possible to assure that this remains the case."

As the banquet hall began to empty, only eight Hans (Indralans) remained in the room: the Emperor and Empress, the Crown-Princess and Prince, the Viceroy/Grand Tutor, the Chancellor, the Minister of Foreign Affairs/Director of Dependent States, and the Minister of Defence/Grand Commandant. Each person had a very important role to play and essentially made up the governing power of Indrala. All of them waited for their Luthori guests to begin eating first. No Han was supposed to eat before their guests, they essentially control everything during formal events.

The sweet and spicy smells of the Indralan and Luthori foods complemented the conversation at hand.

"Indeed it is. Unfortunately, the Southern beauty may never merge with the beauty of the North. The Kuomintang and Clan Deng refuse our correspondents, yet fully participate in government. We fear the worse for the future of Indrala, but We are happy that Your Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty feels the same way about Our country as We do about his own."

Huifu deliberately took the bait, desiring to hear the Luthori opinions on Northern Indrala.
