20 October 3503
Members of the Indralan and international press corps gathered in front of a stage built near the Heavenly Palace, the Gate of the Supremacy of Virtue standing in the background. The important members of the Imperial Clan, the entire Imperial Court, and significant members of the nobility were dressed in traditional costume, awaiting the arrival of King Haejo and Holy Emperor Zhuquan to arrive.
After a few moments of waiting, traditional Indralan and Kyo music began to play, complementing each other on the stylistic differences between largely the same instruments. As the music played, a limousine pulled out of the Heavenly Palace and made its way to the back of the crowd, allowing the two royals to exit the vehicle and walk down a long aisle leading to the stage. Like the individuals on stage, both King Haejo and Emperor Zhuquan were dressed in Kyo and Indralan traditional court attire. Once the two made it to the stage, an exchanging of gifts took place, with Holy Emperor Zhuquan receiving a beautiful state from the ancient Kyo Kingdom and with King Haejo receiving the Holy Empress's crown jewels and regalia that she brought from Dranland to Indrala as the last Baekgu princess, as well as an ornate jade seal, topped with a phoenix and with an Indralan inscription on the bottom. Shortly thereafter, the Holy Emperor turned toward the lectern and began to speak.
Today brings the dynasties of the Indralan and Kyo peoples together. We share a joint history and, for some of us, even joint blood. Every Indralan Imperial Clan has been sympathetic to the Kyo monarchs in Dranland. We have even called for a triumvirate of monarchs in Dranland consisting of a monarch from each major ethnic group. Alas, there is a lack of respect for traditional culture and society in Dranland, especially at the present, but we must thank the government of Dranland for allowing cultural titles to exist. These are far better than none at all. For that, I commend the Dranish government. As much as we would like to get closer to Dranland, today is a time for the Gao-Showan peoples to rejoice in unity. His Majesty King Haejo of the Kyo has graciously traveled from Dranland to Indrala. We welcome him to Indrala and the world stage and commend him for his resolute defense and practice of traditional Kyo culture. In thanks, we bestow upon him the title "Duke of Ryeo", along with the various courtesy titles of Marquis, Count, Viscount, and Baron. His Majesty shall be able to use the styles of "Grace" and "Lord". May these titles never die.
Many in the press corps began to applaud, while others from political party newspapers that disagreed with whatever political implications they saw left. The Holy Emperor left the lectern, awaiting a speech from King Haejo himself, the new Duke of Ryeo.
Elsewhere in the capital, a few peaceful protests were taking place, mostly by the Cheng Daenists who still ascribed to the radically nationalist Cheng Daenism. Pictures of the Tengyuan Emperor and the Cheng Daenist Patriarch were held, calling for the overthrow of democracy and the installation of a Chen Daenist utopian government run by monks. These were largely ignored by an overwhelming majority of Indralans, as they see Cheng Daenism as the bane of Indralan society.
