Hulstrian and Gao-Showan State Visit to Dranland, 3559

(OOC: Since Alain agreed to this, I figured I might as well go ahead with it immediately.)

Delegation from Crownlands arrives in Dranland

Iglesia Mayor - In a visit planned within the short space of a few months, a delegation from Hulstria and Gao-Soto has arrived at Iglesia Mayor's International Airport, marking the first such visit in over 100 years of Dranish-Hulstrian-Gao-Showan relations, previous visits mostly being held in the Crownlands. The delegation, consisting of Kaiser Maximilian X of Hulstria, the newly-crowned Mikado Okatori Akihiko of Gao-Soto, Governor-General Ludwig Bildermann, Staatsminister Klaus Michels and Foreign Minister Theodor Heinsberg, is one of the most extensive delegations sent by Hulstria and Gao-Soto on state visits, with many international commentators interpreting the move as a mark of esteem for the Crownlands' long-standing ally. It is especially rare that both Emperors and the Governor-General represent the Crownlands abroad: usually at least one of them stays at home. The delegation, therefore, was greeted with high honour when its flight landed in Iglesia Mayor.

The visit comes at a crucial time for both nations. Dranland, still reeling from the crisis in the Northern Utari Mosir, has recently been the subject of designs to reunify it with Egelion, its former colonizing power. Hulstria and Gao-Soto, meanwhile, are seen to increasingly emerge from relative quiet on the world stage, having recently intervened on Dranland's behalf by issuing a warning to Egelion not to pursue aggression in its designs on Dranland and being the subject of speculation that parts of the new Mikado Akihiko's coronation address were intended to challenge the hegemonic position claimed by Indrala's Minzhu Dynasty.

The itinerary contains meetings between senior officials of both governments, as determined by the host government (OOC: you guys come up with the itinerary, I'll follow). Apart from the meetings in Iglesia Mayor, Emperor Akihiko has expressed a wish to visit Gongmangdo-Comares and meet with his peer among the Kyo, King Jongki II of Gyokuk.

President Rivera Receives Hulstrians

The President addressing the Hulstrian delegation

President Eduardo Rivera today received his Hulstrian guests at Iglesia Mayor International Airport, leading a reception committee consisting of high-ranking officials and dignitaries, including Taoiseach Hun Myon, several cabinet Ministers and provincial Governors, as well as NUM Premier Hyosuke Kimoto, whose long-planned visit to Dranland was integrated into that of the Hulstrians. The national guard was lining the streets and the city orchestra of Iglesia Mayor performed the Hulstrian and Dranish anthems as Rivera escorted Kaiser Maximilian X, Mikado Okatori Akihiko of Gao-Soto, Governor-General Ludwig Bildermann, Staatsminister Klaus Michels and Foreign Minister Theodor Heinsberg to the armored car convoi which would transport them to the Presidential Palace, where a public press conference was held as the first item on the programme of the state visit. Several communist, republican and pro-Egelion splinter groups who had planned to protest along the streets during the visit were dispersed by the police before the convoi got under way.

After having arrived at the Presidential Palace, Rivera addressed the delegation and expressed his satisfaction that "for the first time in history our country is honored by the collective presence of the highest representatives of Hulstria & Gao-Soto, which remains our main ally not only in Dovani, but in the whole of Terra. By convening here today, we affirm our loyalty to the Dranish-Hulstrian bonds established by our forefathers. Today, more than hundred years after the close relationship between post-revolutionary Hulstria and Dranland was created, we still stand united in support of the universal values of freedom, democracy and Humanism which the Republic of Dranland was founded upon and which the Septembrist movement brought back to Hulstria and preserved lastingly."

After the two-hour press conference, Rivera and his Hulstrian guests retreated to the private sections of the palace for a series of confidential talks between the President and every member of the Hulstrian delegation. A presidential spokesman later informed the general public that trade, defence, enhanced political co-operation and the matter of Egelion were among the topics discussed. However, he refused to reveal further details, citing the confidential nature of the talks.

This evening, the President will host a state banquet at the Palace, which will be held in the LeCoultre hall, one of the largest rooms in the complex which is named after Dranland's first Lord Chancellor Larissa LeCoultre, who was the first democratically elected Head of State under the former Dranish monarchy. Apart from Rivera, the Hulstrian delegation and the Dranish cabinet and NUM Premier Kimoto will also be among the guests, as well as former Taoisigh Dr Enrique Ovalle and Éléonore Gascoyne and ex-Presidents Steven Grey and Izumi Otaka.

King Jongki meeting "a hostile act", Cabello warns Hulstrian delegation

Image
Curro Cabello MP

Hacia Casa leader Curro Cabello MP has warned the Hulstrian delegation visiting Dranland that their scheduled meeting with the Kyo monarch, King Jongki II, would be "a hostile action against the Egelian people and their aspiration for Egelian nationhood". He went on to describe King Jongki II as "an agent of Dranish imperialism", "an obstacle to unificación" and "a shameless Egelia denier who wants to wipe out our Egelian heritage". He concluded by suggesting Mikado Okatori Akihiko "take Jongki back to Gao-Soto with you and marry him off to one of your princesses".

Cabello is fuming at Hulstria & Gao-Soto for its involvement over the controversy surround Egelion's territorial claim on Dranland, but despite this, he has been keen not to present himself as entirely inhospitable to the visiting delegation. They have all been offered tickets to the 'International Conference on Eastern Egelia' which is shortly to be held in Mynyddoedd Creigiog (known to unificaciónists by its Dranianos name of Castellón). In addition, they have been offered tickets for an Iglesia Mayor cinema to see Fall of Castellón, the hit film produced by Cabello's film production company that has helped to spur a massive resurgence in unficaciónist and Dranianos nationalist feeling across Dranland.

Emperor Akihiko dismisses Cabello warning

Iglesia Mayor - the Imperial Household Agency of Gao-Soto has released an official statement by His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, Emperor Okatori Akihiko of Gao-Soto, that dismisses in strong terms the warning addressed to the Gao-Showan Mikado by Hacia Casa leader Curro Cabello not to meet with his Kyo peer Jongki II. In the statement, the Mikado expressed his concern at the sentiments revealed by the leadership of the unificación movement as regards the Kyo:

His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, Emperor Okatori Akihiko of Gao-Soto wrote:We dismiss in the strongest possible terms the warning addressed to our Imperial person by Mr Curro Cabello. Though we know of his strong feelings on the subject, we believe there is no excuse to deride one's fellow citizens in the way Mr Cabello just did. It concerns us deeply that Curro Cabello would use such acrimonious language as accusing a people of "wiping out" heritage or acting as an agent of "imperialism".

The Kyo are our Gao-Showan brothers and sisters and Jongki II of Gyokuk is our brother King. We believe, after our forefather Kurosawa and the September Revolution, that to live in our lands in peace and harmony with the gaijin peoples is the way forward for the Gao-Showan peoples, and we were pleased at the recognition of the Royal Clan of Ryeo as monarchs of our Kyo brothers. Our visit reflects our filial feelings of friendship and our appreciation of the course of Dranish and Kyo society reflected in the reinstatement of a King at Gongmangdo.

We are grateful for Mr Cabello's suggestions as to reinforcing our ties with the Ryeo Clan. However, we wish to point out that King Jongki II is already happily married with children.

If anything, Mr Cabello's protestations have strengthened our determination to go to Gongmangdo to present ourselves to our brother, King Jongki II of Gyokuk. We cannot allow the precious harmony between the various communities of our continent be undermined in Dranland. As Hulstria and Gao-Soto set an example, we see it as our duty to reinforce that and thus, we shall go.

- Mikado to ten heika, Okatori Akihiko

Unificaciónists moon at Emperor Akihito

Image

Hacia Casa supporters yesterday expressed their displeasure at Emperor Akihito's plans to meet King Jongki II by exposing their rears at him as he went on an informal walkabout in the historic Kyo city of Gongmangdo-Comares. Hacia Casa later issued this statement:

The protest in Gongmangdo-Comares was a spontaneous demonstration against Gao-Showan imperialism that was not in any way organised or approved by Hacia Casa.

Acting Taoiseach of Dranland Hun Myon apologised to the Hulstrian visitors.

I wish to express on behalf of the nation, embarrassment and shock at the disgraceful scene the Hulstrian delegation was exposed to. Strangely enough, it appears the unificationists were attempting to show their location of their brains to the delegation, alas they are not located even down there and certainly not in their skulls. These people have violated public nudity laws and will be dealt with, they were kind enough not to leave out their faces in the photos, which should make it a fairly easy task for the police to locate them
To live outside the law, you must be honest.
