President Foster tells supporters Kalistan is 'open for business'

Foreign Minister Jean-Baptiste Fabian has confirmed earlier reports that his counterpart from the Federation of Zardugal will arrive in Kalistan in the coming days. Following a visit to Kalistan's new-found ally Istalia, Yasmin Won will be greeted in the capital by not only the Foreign Minister but President of the Republic Franklin Foster as he continues to campaign for re-election. Won's visit is believed to be part of a wider strategy to re-engage Zardugal, which once an international heavyweight, with nations across Terra. Speaking to a rally about the visit, the President remarked;
As we all know, Zardugal has seen its position in the world shrink in recent times, as successive governments neglected the importance of healthy international relationships. Nonetheless, it delights me that Ms. Won views Kalistan as a nation of such importance that she has chosen us as the destination for one of her first state visits as Foreign Minister. I sincerely hope everybody involved will ensure that she has a comfortable but productive and beneficial trip. As I have repeatedly stated, Kalistan is a country which is open for business and we will work with any nation which shows a genuine desire for collaboration.

Won will spend her first few days embracing to Kalistani culture and being shown the vast plethora of activities and locations of cultural interest across Ananto. As is traditional, she will be invited to witness a demolition derby on Sunday before beginning a series of meetings and conferences with the Kalistani government. Defence Minister Laura Michelakakis, in particular, is said to be excited by the prospect of a blossoming relationship with Zardugal, as she attempts to ensure Kalistan maintains a sufficiently well-equipped and well-trained military.

Foreign Minister Won arrives in Kaliburg

Zardic Foreign Minister Yasmin Won arrived in Kaliburg yesterday to huge fanfare as she began her long anticipated meeting with the Kalistani Government. Meeting her at the airport was Kalistani Foreign Minister Fabian and President Foster and the Zardic Ambassador to Kalistan.

After meeting with her Kalistani counterparts she and her husband, Tomas Achillo, were taken on a tour of Kaliburg, along with a stop at a Kaliburg demolition derby where's it's said the Foreign Minister and her husband were cheering the loudest.

Won's arrival in Kalistan is apart of President Murphy's new Foreign policy seeking to ease Zardugal back onto the international stage. With meeting with Istalia and Hutori already complete Won's whirlwind cycle has brought her to what is considered one of the most influential nations in the east. With a steady decline of Indralan influence in recent years, Kalistan has taken an increasingly leadership role both in its backyard and internationally; it currently holds the General Secretary Position on the World Congress Security Council; something not lost on Zardugal.

As the meetings get underway Won is expected to touch base on increasing Zardic Business in Kalistan, and bringing in Kalistani exports to Zardugal. A select private meeting with the Kalistani President and Defence Minister is said to lead up to talks about increased military ties between Kaliburg and Belgae; Zardugal has for years considered to have one of the most powerful militaries in Terra and despite years of international neglect the Zardic Officer Corps are still respected as some of the world's most professional while Zardic military equipment is still considered amongst the premier equipment in Terra today.

Laura Michelakakis, Kalistan's Defence Minister, has spoken of her desire for much further cooperation between the Federation of Zardugal and Kalistan. In a joint question and answer session with Zardic Foreign Minister Yasmin Won, both sides agreed that a rebirth in relations between the two countries would be hugely mutually beneficial. Michelakakis went on to explain why Zardugal is such an ideal partner;
When we engage with the Federation, we know we are dealing with like-minded people who share our core values of liberty, democracy and respect for sovereignty. Unlike with some of our other strategic partners, there are no issues of tip-toeing around certain topics or ignoring particular issues. Through a small number of extremely productive and frank conversations, myself and Minister Won have been able to make more progress than Kalistan has made in some years with other nations! This ability to be honest and transparent has been absolutely fundamental to our discussions thus far and if it continues then I have no doubt our relationship will go from strength to strength for years and decades to come.

Foreign Minister Jean-Baptiste Fabian has been similarly complementary during Ms. Won's trip, saying she was 'a credit to her nation and to her people'. By the conclusion of the trip at the end of this week, Fabian hopes to have agreed in principle a deal of some kind between the two nations. Unfortunately, the domestic political landscape means that it is still not clear whether such a deal would ultimately be ratified and, even if it would, when that would occur. Nonetheless, collaboration of any kind will bring benefits to Kalistan- especially given Zardugal's prime location in Majatra, bordering Vanuku.
