FOREIGN MINISTER ANATOLY IGNATOV ARRIVES IN RECHTENBURG
Foreign Minister Ignatov photographed by Mordusian reporters arriving in Rechtenburg.
Despite Mordusia rapidly shifting its stance on the fascist regime of Saridan after a massive victory for the pacifist Mordusian Progressive Party in their elections, subsequently quickly changing sides from supporting armed conflict to appeasement, Foreign Minister Anatoly Ignatov kept his promise for a state visit to the capital, bringing with him the Chairman of the National Transitional Council, Valentin Konstantinov. Back in the motherland, his position has been temporarily filled by General Secretary and Prime Minister Pasha Nikolaev. The main purpose of the summit was to discuss possible aid that could've been given to Mordusia in the event of conflict occurring. Previously stating earlier this month that Trigunia would've been willing to send anything from volunteers to supplies. Now the meeting between heads of state has been shifted to convincing Mordusia to consider action against Saridan. It is uncertain if the talks will warrant anything useful, but Ignatov stressed that they commenced. Speaking before the Parliament, Ignatov gave an emboldened speech with the most famous phrase of the event being "You cannot reconcile peace with a nation that has openly legalized slavery and segregation." Reporters from The People's Truth were so graciously able to accompany Foreign Minister Ignatov, and ave included a transcript of his delegation below.
Distinguished members of the Parliament, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Prime Minister,
Originally mere weeks ago, the governments of our two nations were in support of one another in armed conflict against the oppressive regime of Saridan. Now it seems that your government has taken a radically different stance on this issue, with new leadership. The pacifist Mordusian Progressive Party has opted for reconciliation and appeasement with the regime. Well let me tell you this: You cannot reconcile peace with a nation that has openly legalized slavery and segregation! [A roar of applause is heard from the Spirit Party's section] The Progressive Party has also wished for disarmament of the military. I do not wish to offend those present in Parliament, for I am a distinguished guest of another nation, but that proposal is utterly ridiculous. All nations of the world must have a standing army to protect themselves from threats both foreign and domestic. It is especially true in your case. That is why, in my presence here, I encourage the new government of Mordusia to take action against this oppressive regime! In the face of extreme crisis, one must act, not turn the other cheek! People of Mordusia, stand up in solidarity against the fascist menace! Fight for the freedom and liberation of mankind! [A large amount of applause is heard from all members of Parliament, with the Progressive Party sitting silent] No matter how upset the Progressive Party gets, our delegation will not leave until this summit has resulted in direct action against the Saridani dictatorship!
