Narikaton and Darnussia:
President Ulrich auf Pappen
Minister of Finance Thomas Bremsscheibe

Agenda

1. Securing Trade Post-Aldegar Canal Crisis (Narikaton and Darnussia, Lourenne, Deltaria, Kundrati, Luthori, Beiteynu)
The Aldegar Canal Crisis led to a global rise in inflation and recessions across countries reliant on trade. While the Aldegar Canal is open for business and will likely remain that way, trade is an essential engine for global growth. Securing trade for all countries will be essential to ensure economic security and access to resources needed for the people's livelihood.

2. Clean Economies in a World of Fossil Fuel Competition (Lourenne, Dundorf, Deltaria, Kundrati, Luthori, Beiteynu)
Terra is entering a new era of fossil fuel competition. Oil exploitation is seeing an uptick, while other countries are focused on cutting emissions and boosting clean energy production. While initially expensive, clean energy appears to be unlimited, while fossil fuels remain critical for certain functions, like shipping and flight. Reconciling these seeming contradictory needs may help countries develop sound policies focused on long term interests.

3. Impact of the Kirlawa War and the Global Transition to Multipolarity (Narikaton and Darnussia, Lourenne, Dundorf, Deltaria, Kundrati, Luthori, Beiteynu)
The Kirlawa War and the tensions between Lourenne and Beiteynu have opened the door to a truly multipolar world. Artania is rebuilding from years of war - hitting the regional economy - while Dovani is focused on economic growth and domestic prosperity. The potential for other countries to increase their economic and military power is large. Discussing these issues and potential pathways for a future order are critical to ensuring national sovereignty and minimizing economic disruptions.

4. Balanced Fiscal and Monetary Policy for Sustainable Growth (Narikaton and Darnussia, Lourenne, Dundorf, Deltaria, Kundrati, Luthori, Beiteynu)
Central bank and government monetary and fiscal policies drive economic performance. Best practices should be discussed to help countries develop sound policies. Although mundane, it is an essential topic for discussion.

5. Benevolent Economics: Best Practices for a People-Centered Economy (Lourenne, Dundorf, Deltaria, Kundrati, Luthori, Beiteynu)
What should be the goal of growth? The people's prosperity of course. This session will gather insights from member countries on their economic, social, and education policies and how they have contributed to their people's welfare.

His Imperial Majesty Wu Fangxun, the Son of Heaven
Your Majesties, Your Excellencies, Your Graces; We, on behalf of the Yingdalan people, thank you for coming to Our first home, the Guanghua Palace in Xujing, the capital of the Shu State, to discuss several important economic issues critical to Terra during the Third Summit of the Eight Economies. We believe that the setting is important here. Remote and serene, the Guanghua Palace provides the perfect location for sound and clear minds to converse and engage in civil, yet lively debate for the betterment of Terra.

We ask that all freely convey their views without fear of censorship. While we may not all agree, we must hear what each other has to say. Only then can we have true understanding.

An understanding of our respective country's views on these issues - broadly speaking trade, energy, the global order, fiscal and monetary policy, and social policy - should increase the potential for cooperation, learning, and bettering our peoples.

So We now open the floor to the delegations for their views on each topic on the agenda. As host, Yingdala will set the stage and provide input, with other countries covering the topic to follow. We begin with trade.

His Excellency Qiao Zihao, Counsellor-in-Chief
I thank His Imperial Majesty for opening the third meeting of this important organization and providing the guidance to the Yingdalan government for its positions. Without Your Imperial Majesty, there is no Yingdala or Yingdalan civilization. I am sure we are all immensely grateful for your presence.

To the point, trade disruption can cause immense economic disruption and harm the people. We all saw that with the Aldegar Canal Crisis decades ago. Yingdala was among the hardest, if not the hardest, hit by the crisis. Inflation spiked, as did the interest rates to tame inflation. We entered a recession and even engaged in price controls to stave off a much worse crisis.

While we were able to pull through, the crisis taught us to diversify sources of trade. We have done this through numerous treaties with countries across Terra to open up markets for commerce and investment.

But, more importantly, the crisis taught us that no single nation should be able to determine the fate of others when it comes to trade. This means no one country should geographically determine trading outcomes - whether it is through control of canals or chokepoints. No single nation should dominate the seas and serve as the primary protector of others' commerce. No one country should dominate trade - whether through exports, imports, transportation, policy, or the like.

Therefore, it is essential that countries agree to keep trade decentralized to maximize sovereignty and the people's benefits. After all, trade exists to benefit the people. If they are cut off or beholden to tyranny, then how can they not suffer? Our aim should be to ease their burden, which just so happens to be good for the state - both in terms of stability and revenues.

Besides the grand goal, practically, nations in Terra could do the following:
-Diversify trade partners and supply chains to avoid over-reliance on a single source;
-Introduce and trust a real global commons policy toward trade - trading states protect their own geographic waters to ensure free flows of goods;
-At all times of peace, even during difficult political transitions, canals and critical waterways should remain open to avoid harming others who rely on them;
-Break shipping monopolies where they exist to increase price competition and reduce trading costs for all; and
-Respect each nation's sovereign policy positions on trade - allowing restrictions where a country sees a good or service detrimental to their cultural, morals, or national security.

By doing these things, Terra can achieve a free, secure, and sovereign trading regime with people at the center. Thank you.

Foreign Minister of the Kundrati Union Vilyna Luanenkas Herasymchuk
I agree with our counterparts in Yingdala that diversification of our trade partners is a must. We've been attempting to talk to countries like Lourenne, Dundorf, Luthori, and other nations in Majatra, Seleya, and Dovani. Nations reliant on one country are too vulnerable to that nation's whims and changes and could cause long-term problems if the nation decides to mark its path. Free trade is a must, after all.

To that end, we should ensure that all strategic waterways are free of control from any one nation and, where possible, it should be up to the World Congress to assist in the maintenance of the safety and capacity of these waterways with the opinions and understanding of nations that border and are in those waterways. For example, the Aldegar Canal, the Migrant Pass, the Artanian Sea, these are all very important to international trade like the Ananto Sea. Why have one nation control these waterways? That is an entire disaster waiting for us if that nation decides to go and become a hermit. The world suffers when these kinds of waterways are closed to everyone or closed to a significant trading power. Even minor trading powers as well.
