Kindall Shipyards lands huge tender from Lourenne

For years Luthorian diplomats and business leaders tried to warm the government and market of Lourenne up to Luthorian business. Today a surprise announcement came out of Lourenne and from the Kindall Shipyards that the Luthorian company won the tender to repair the merchant fleet of Lourenne.

Middenhal, Duchy of Middenriding – The announcement came in early in the morning that Kindall Shipyards had participated in a tender for the job to repair various ships of the Lourenne trade fleet. The large job would mean various jobs and economic opportunities for Luthori and add attention to Luthori’s shipping and repair industry to other nations and companies.

Kindall Shipyards announced that the deal made was for the company to use its ports and drydocks to repair the ‘Green trade ships’ in Luthori. The Lourennains will supply advisors and experts to train the Luthorian company in their special trade ships. In return for a hefty discount the Luthorian company also bought the right to build the ships for themselves and sell them to the Luthorian shipping industry.

Sir Brandon Kindall, CEO of Kindall Shipyards stated in an interview attended by many people in the harbour that ‘’this is a great success for Luthori, for Kindall Shipyards and hard work these workers behind me are doing. They are the very best we have! We will after this deal use the profits to invest in building these new ships, to find other deals and help bring Luthori across the world!’’. The statement was met with loud applause from the workers. Before the press could get their questions in the CEO continued his speech saying: ‘’this will not only mean profit for us, we will find new people to fill in jobs. We will also offer bonus to our workers if they bring these ships in shipshape and Middelhal fashion before our own set deadline. We will show them what Luthori can do!’’. The applause that followed the statement caused the press to again have to wait to get in their questions.

Kindall Shipyards is the largest ship repair and build company in Luthori and has over time been expanding withing various ports in Luthori. Recently the infrastructural investments made by the government in the Duchy of Middenriding, especially around water ways, highways and ports, combined with the growth in trade deals and trade connections have caused a surge in economic activity around the ports. Kindall Shipyards has profited immensely from this, as especially inland watershipping expanded over the last 5 years. Now the Kindall family have set their eyes on being a global competitor in the shipbuilding and repairing market.

The Kindall Shipyards in controlled by the Kindall Family, the fourth richest family in Luthori, who by 5327 estimates had a networth of 26,8 billion LPD. This deal and the years of economic boom will surely cause the families fortune to swell. It is known that Sir John Kindall the brother of Sir Brandon Kindall, has flown over to Luthori to sign the contract and talk details over before the start.

Socialist Liberal Party rallies start.

As the Socialist Liberal Party officially launched the campaign on January 5350, they continued this by starting to organize campaign rallies. The first rally was organized in the Fort William, and unlike the previous rallies, the new slogans were meant for positive campaign strategies rather than negative campaign strategies.

The rallies, starting in 20 August 5350 and lasting until the elections, will be organized in every major city of Luthori. The first rally in 20 August was organized in Fort William and it started with the speech of the party President Erika Harris:

We stand here for renewing and reforming Luthori. An open and just Luthori will come when you want, in recent years, while there was still notable progress towards an open Luthori, that goal could not be fully reached, it is time to reform the state of affairs in order to reach an open Luthori.

The society changes when the individual changes. Social justice, civil liberties, openness- all of these are goals which can be reached and for reaching these goals, SLP was formed. However, in the recent times, the far-right Fatherland Front saw a surge of support, however, it is not the time to panic as it is a party which will likely suddenly rise and suddenly fall.

The SLP will work for collaboration with other progressive parties, most notably the Union of the Lion. The UoL has many policies which intersect with the platform of SLP, and it will be relatively easy to form a coalition with them if we can reach a coalition agreement which will make all parties happy with it.

When it comes to Constitutional Democratic Union, we do not agree with their social conservatism and economic liberalism. However, still, they are preferrable to the Fatherland Front and we will think collaborating with CDU if it is absolutely necessary to stop the rise of far-right ultranationalism.

Overall, the future of Luthori will be determined by the votes of the people in the approaching generel elections of June 5351. I hope the elections will give the best possible results for the people. See you!

The rally was another step of SLP during the current electoral cycle. As elections approach, campaigns start, the campaigning strategies, together with the voter sentiments, will determine the final result of the 5351 elections, and therefore the destiny of Luthori.

Socialist Liberal Party President Erika Harris gives a speech about the electoral results of 5351.

In 20 January, 5351, Socialist Liberal Party President Erika Harris went to the Fort William and gave a speech to the press. She spoke about the electoral results and the potential outcomes of the results:

First of all, welcome to the all the people who came to here. The topic of today is the election which was held the last week and it gave results which showed us the Fatherland Front became the largest party with more than 30% of seats, it was such a sad day for democracy due to the rise of a far-right party, and we have started negotiations with Constitutional Democratic Union and Union of the Lion to form a big tent coalition government in order to band together as a united force to defend Luthori from the far-right parties.

The results were the one of the most surprising ones that I saw in my political career. In the all previous elections, this or that, the results were usually coherent with the predictions and expectations. However, this election is one of the shocks that I never saw, however, it is not the time to give up, because there is still some hope that the Fatherland Front can be prevented from gaining further prominence and influence by forming a coalition.

It is now not the time to panic, instead, it is now the time to stay calm. Panic always helps the rise of such parties, while calmness prevents the rise of such parties. The SLP will do the best to prevent the further rise of the far-right and we are willing to collaborate with all other parties than the Fatherland Front in order to prevent Luthori falling into the grasps of a radical religious dictatorship. It is not the time to complain, instead, it is time to find solutions and look forward. See you!

Victory Speech of Dan Penning

After the unexpected success of the Fatherland Front in the 5351 parliamentary election in which the party gained 35% of the votes, Dan Penning gave an energized speech at his party headquarters.

We won the elections and we defeated the political establishment.
We triumphed over 50 years of CDU-victories.
We triumphed over the radical feminists.
We triumphed over the leftists!

Five years ago, when I was campaigning in Fort-Williams, I told all our courageous fighters that one day, the Fatherland Front will become the largest party. Today, it happened!
And this thanks to the hard work of tens of thousands of our supporters and militants, who dedicated countless hours for this electoral battle.
And what a victory! 35% of the votes, 10 points ahead of the CDU according to the exit polls.

I tell you my friends, this is the beginning of a revolution. The establishment cannot ignore us anymore and cannot prevent us from running in upcoming elections.

Protests against conscription erupt in Luthori.
The people took the streets for protesting against the conscription.

29 May 5352

In 23 May, 5352, protests against conscription erupted all over Luthori and the protesters called for its end and defiance to conscription reached an historically high level. The protests initially started in Fort William, and gradually spread to all cities.

While the political parties and the politicians initially remained neutral, politicians from different parties started to take sides. The first politician who spoke about the protests was Robert Landon, who is a Member of Imperial Diet from the Socialist Liberal Party:

I stand here for a critical topic. A few days ago, people started to protest against the conscription and some of them even occupied recruitment offices and refused to perform millitary service. What is going on now? It is clear: the right-wing and far-right parties joined forces to pass a bill which would abolish civilian national service and criminalize conscientious objection. Seems ordinary, right? No. This is our problem, this is the problem of all Luthori, not their problem nor my problem or someone else. The problem is that reactionism and fascism saw a resurgence with the rise of the fascist Fatherland Front and this started to become a serious problem which places democracy on thin ice.

The conscription is not virtuous. It is not effective. It does not respect civil liberties. It resembles or even sometimes reaches fascism. It is authoritarian. It is anti-democratic. And we will together unite against conscription and be the champions of the civil liberties! Not me, not you, not him, not her, but us! Our proposal for solving this problem is reinstatement of civilian national service and exemption of conscientious objectors from combatant roles. But given the fact that it is impossible to convince the far-right, we will have to wait up to the next election. And worse, this conscription will last... 18 months? That is way too much and proves my point.

But... if you do not want to go to the millitary, what will you do? You have only two options: you will rather ignore the laws and refuse to go, or you will emigrate from Luthori and go to a country without conscription and wait the repeal of it. You have not much choice. You have only two choices if you do not want to go to the conscription. But is it really necessary? Unfortunately yes because it is impossible to convince the rightist parties.

The protests, while starting as isolated rallies, quickly grew into a movement of mass mobilization and the situation remains tense. The people continue to call for the abolition of the conscription, and major organizations like some political parties and many civil society organizations express solidarity with the protesters. We will see what happens next in this year.

SLP President about the current events: "Something strange is happening now"

In 15 November, 5352, Socialist Liberal Party President Erika Harris gave a speech to the press:

The recent protests against conscription erupted around some a few months ago and they still continue, as they started due to the collaboration between the parties which were right of the center in order to abolish the civilian alternative national service and criminalize conscientious objection. While Union of the Lion and Socialist Liberal Party voted against these acts, they nevertheless passed and a resurgence of authoritarianism is currently seen in Luthori because the rise of the fascist Fatherland Front.

What I mean by 'resurgence of authoritarianism' is that the current laws and the politics are increasingly shifting towards right, and so much shifting the right results in authoritarianism and if this shift does not stop the end point is totalitarianism. Although Luthori still has centrist and leftist parties, even in the case that all these parties vote the the bills like a 'bloc', this is not enough to stop the resurgence of authoritarianism as currently the FF and the CDU together hold the majority. Something strange is happening now in Luthori and it is really difficult to understand why these are happening.

And, and, a bill which would establish ultra-isolationist policies passed and the bill of SLP which would repeal these policies were voted against by many parties. Luthori is gradually turning into a closed country, and the end point of that will be a fascist dictatorship if this continues like that. The party of the fascists surprisingly became the largest in both the 5351 and 5352 elections, nevertheless they made a loss of 11 seats in 5352 and therefore lost their power to block treaties.

The speech was about the recent bills which were passed, the electoral results, and the protests against conscription.

Luthori signs historic trade deal with Vascania

The Foreign Office announced historic trade deal with Vascania, opening up new trade and investments for Vascania and new opportunities for Luthorian businesses.

Fort William, Duchy of Orange, Luthori – Late last evening the Foreign Office notified the press through a press release that the Empire signed a new trade deal with the nation of Vascania. This is considered by Luthorian diplomatic analysts to be an 'historic' move by Her Majesty's Government, but not really surprising as, Emma Goldwin, a foreign policy analyst to the Times stated "Even though, it's a great move for our foreign policy, putting actions rather than words, it seems that it is only the beginning of a new larger policy by the Imperial Government" as she declared, it seems that this policy is the beginning of a new policy of reproachment of various old colonies with the intend of working with these nations as equal partners.

The Foreign Office stated that this move will significantly help the Luthorian economy grow and diversify as it now stretches its reach to overseas nations for goods and services and invest in them to make mutual economic gains. The move is also firmly in line with the ‘Open & Global Luthori’ Policy of the Foreign Office, as it seeks to rebuild relations with various nation and former colonies to showcase the Imperial era is over. Unlike other trade deals the contents of the deal was made public directly, the Foreign Office said that it wanted to be transparent and to showcase its international success. If the treaty is read it showcases that the treaty is basically focused on exporting knowledge and technology to Vascania, as well as invest heavily in the production of tea and oil as well as improve their shipping.

In the treaty it is specificly stated that Luthori will import oil through Luthori Petroleum, also known as the Luthorian Oil Company (LOP or LP), the Luthorian state-owned oil company, from Vascania. This will be done at a lower rate than to other parties, without compromising the profitability of the sold oil. LP will also invest heavily in the Vascanian oil industry. The target will be to increase the production of oil and to aid in its shipping.

In the same agreement, the firm of SouthSeas has signed à partnership agreement with the Imperial Vascanian Oil, in this partnership, it is stipulated that SouthSeas will be able to be the main transport company for exportation of the Vascanian Oil, in exchange of that, SouthSeas has agreed to invest into Vascania, in the goal of renovating shipyards in the country, in this aim, they have signed an agreement with à Luthorian shipyards firm (more informations later).

An agreement with some Luthorian constructions firms and the Vascanian Government has stiputalted that some Luthorian construction companies will be authorized to build or invest into the infrastructure of the nation, in part of the agreement, these same companies would also be obligated to employ Vascanian workers. Some Luthorian engineers could be brought to Vascania in order to supervise the next works.

Secondly the treaty states that Luthori will pay no import tariffs on tea, the treaty makes huge strides into making buying and investing in tea easier for Luthorian companies. Tea has historically be and still is today, one of the most popular drink in Luthori. The demand of tea has always been steadfast on the Luthorian market, ensuring through this treaty that this demand is more easily met.

Thirdly, the treaty speaks of infrastructural investments. At the same time the treaty was announced it was made clear that SouthSeas and Kindall Shipyards will jointly invest in Vascanian ports, improving them. The Imperial Government has stated that it will also aid financially in this matter, adding £300 million to the deal. The treaty specifies that Luthorian companies will not take over any companies and would at best max their stock in any company at 45%. Meaning the companies will be partly-owned by Luthorian companies who will work with these companies as partners, customers and one of the owners.

In 20 January, 5354, Socialist Liberal Party President Erika Harris gave a speech to the press about the last electoral results and the new cabinet:

In the start of this decade, fascism saw a resurgence with the establishment of the 'Fatherland Front'. They outperformed all the other parties and became the largest party in 5351. In order to prevent the rise of fascists into power, Socialist Liberal Party negotiated with Constitutional Democratic Union and Union of the Lion, and these negotiations resulted in the McClair ministry in 5351, which consisted of CDU and UoL, and SLP provided confidence and supply to the ministry. In 5352 elections, similar outcomes were seen, apart from the small decline of Fatherland Front. The McClair ministry remained as the cabinet of Luthori, and the SLP continued to support. However, when the radical feminist Radical Women of Luthori was dissolved, snap elections were held in 5353 and the Union of the Lion made gains and became the second-largest party, while the Fatherland Front suffered further decline and the Constitutional Democratic Union solidified its loss of dominance. The elections of 5353 were good for Socialist Liberal Party, as it made gains and re-won its most of its lost seats.

Following the elections, the 'president' of the fascist 'Fatherland Front' called the Constitutional Democratic Union to form a coalition government, but guess what happens next? CDU rejected this proposal and continued to work with the Union of the Lion, which helped keeping the fascists out of power. However, the current policies of Luthori is increasingly shifting towards the far-right, manifested by the foreign policy 'reforms' pushed by the FF and approved by the CDU. Outrageous, that a party which claims "rapproachment" with other nations would support such ultra-isolationist policies and would vote against the proposals of the liberals and the socialists to repeal these policies, and it casts doubt on the sincerity of the "Open and Global Luthori" policy. The politicians of Constitutional Democratic Union, if you want an 'open and global' Luthori you should vote against the ultra-isolationist proposals of the fascists! Otherwise it is reasonable to say that the government is hypocritical and unreliable in the foreign policy.

5355 Ducal Elections: An historic election for Luthori.
20 January 5356

Fatherland Front won the elections, which became the largest party and won the bonus seats in Northriding, Erneshire and Orange. In addition, the party reached absolute majority in the duchies of Erneshire and Orange. Union of the Lion made gains in these elections, with a landslide victory in the duchy of Shipleyriding. However, an Union of the Lion failed to materialise in other duchies in what is seen as a setback in the midterm elections for the party. The Constitutional Democratic Union suffered a significant and historical setback, losing three of the four duchies it held. The party nonetheless kept the duchy of Middenriding, only a few thousands votes ahead of the Union of the Lion and with a lack of absolute majority. The Minister President Edward Caulfield announced that a CDU-UL coalition will be formed to keep the extremist parties out of power.

The Socialist Liberal Party also failed to make a breakthrough in these elections. In Shipleyriding, the party totally collapsed due to a corruption scandal. In Orange, the party scored below the electoral threshold and completely lost its representation in the duchy. However, in Erneshire, the party surprisingly made gains thanks to its charismatic regional leader, gaining 30% of the votes. The President of the Fatherland Front Dan Penning called the results a "tremendous victory" and promised to "change everything" in the duchies controlled by the FF. In Northriding, however, the situation is different. The Fatherland Front has 49 seats out of 101 and no other party is willing to support them locally. It remains to be seen whether an anti-FF coalition will be formed.

Holy Luthorian Empire Intervenes in Malivian Civil War

Her Imperial Majesty’s Government announced that the civil war threatens the stability in the region and that the actions of the destablising factions within the nation are a danger for the continent. The Empire will intervene on the side of the MPPG.

Fort William, Duchy of Orange – The Foreign Secretary and the Defence Secretary have combinedly released a statement to the nation that the Imperial Government of the Holy Luthorian Empire will not standby and watch as a nation is torn to smithereens. The government has said that it will protect its backyard and stand-up to warlords and thugs that harm innocent people’s lives.

Working together with allies
To better bring peace to the region is a monumental task that the Empire cannot do alone. Luckily the Kingdom of Dorvik and the Kundrati Union have also announced their intent to intervene in the conflict. Both nations are partners of the Empire and as such the Defence Ministry has stated in the joined statement that the Imperial Government’s intention is to work alongside international partners to bring peace to Malivia. The Imperial Government has negotiated with the government of the Kundrati Union, a close ally of Luthori, to form a joint taskforce to deal with the troubles in Malivia. In order to do that the Empire will match the Kundrati response and send 1.500 troops to join up with the Kundrati Union and aid in setting up safezones, protect civillians and drive out the supporters of the old regime where possible.

To better coordinate the efforts of all actors the Imperial Government has reached out to their partner, the Kingdom of Dorvik, the Empire has stated that it will coordinate with Dorvik to better give aid to Malivia. It is the government’s intention to work with all willing in whatever capacity to bring peace and stability back to Malivia.

The Imperial Navy will aid in securing the South Ocean
To protect trade and defend against piracy the Senior Service, the Imperial Navy will dispatch the Southern Fleet to the South Sea along the coast of Malivia and combat any and all piracy from Malivia. The Defence Ministry stated that the seas and oceans must remain pirate free and that maritime trade routes must not be harmed by thugs. The Imperial navy is confident that it can effectively contribute to the fight at sea.

Internationalist view & democracy
Since the Empire is one of the oldest functioning constitutional monarchies with an old and great democracy the Imperial Government has stated that it is the Empire’s duty, in line with the current foreign policy, to intervene and protect innocent lives from being destroyed. The Imperial Government stated that it cannot allow slavery, torture and disregard for human life to rule a nation that deserves to be free. Especially now seeing warlords and pirates and springing up everywhere.

Second time Luthori intervenes
This is not the first time the Empire intervenes in a conflict the last 100 years. In 5347 The Imperial Government announced the signing of an agreement with Hobrazia, on the reconstruction of their nation. At that time the Imperial Government stated:

The Imperial Government of the Holy Luthorian Empire is committed to the continued peace and stability in our neighbours. The conflict in Hobrazia destroys innocent lifes of their citizens and threatens the continental stability and thus also the economic prosperity of this continent. Due to Luthorian gangs aiding the insurgents it is the duty of the Imperial government to step in and aid the Hobruzian government. We are deeply ashamed that a group of thug citizens of ours aid in destabilizing our friend and neighbour. The solution to political questions should always be done through democratic ways, not through violence and rebellion.

The conflict threatens the security of Southern Artania, Luthori feels obligated through its new foreign policy to aid in re-establishing the stability in said region and aid in its rebuilding.

The current move of the Imperial Government seems to be in line with the current actions taken.

Prime-Minister will address the Imperial Diet about the intervention
In a press release the Office of the Prime-Minister has announced that he will address the nation and the Imperial Diet on the decision of the Imperial Government to intervene.
