FRIENDSHIP AND TRADE TREATY WITH KUNDRATI

Presidential Palace, August 29, 5367: After a meeting of the Council of Ministers concerning looking for trade opportunities beyond Majatran nations, ZLATENICO OKO asked President Ignac Hodza what was the impetus :

Let’s be clear. We want to trade with everybody in Majatra and the Majatran Security Cooperation Organization is at the heart of our national security policy. But our State Intelligence Directorate (SPRZ) is reporting quite a bit of distrust and hostility among our neighbors, and the new opportunities seem limited. SPRZ reporting indicates there is every reason to believe no power is currently planning an actual move against us, but there is tension in the air.

Secondly, it is no secret that our planning involved revival of the Majatran Economic Association in some form, and this idea is now dead for the foreseeable future. So we are looking elsewhere as well as cloe to home for trading opportunities.

Somewhat surprisingly, we are discovering that the Kundrati Union and Deltarska Republika are finding some common ground. Kundrati Union seems to have worked to grow substantially over time in an upward trajectory in conjunction with allies while Deltarska Republika is by contrast trying to reverse a decline in its fortunes

Despite these differences, believe we both want to take a fresh look at the opportunities we actually have in the changing landscape of Terra.

Further, it seems the Kundrati Union leadership shares the view of nuclear weapons held by those of us currently administering Deltarska Republika.

Accordingly, we are very happy the National Assembly of the Kundrati Union and the Narodna Sabor of Deltarska Republika appear to be on their way to ratifying the Friendship and Trade Agreement between us.

DAPR SELECTS TROOP TRANSPORT BUILDER

Defense Ministry, February 9, 5368: The Admiralty has recommended two steps be taken that are now under review by the Joint Command Staff and Defense Ministry. The first is to go ahead and create a headquarters in the Port of Lesnograd, Disuva Okrug, for an Eastern Fleet anticipated in 5141 legislation as Imperial Fleet which would be renamed.

Second, the Admiralty has been supplying the Federal Army with sea transport for its brigades from time to time under 5141 legislation with a hodge podge of old civilian vessels acquired by the Defense Agency for Procurement and Research (DAPR) from many sources. While it would be nice to have a modern amphibious assault helicopter carrier as some nations do, a stop gap measure is instead proposed.

The proposal is for DAPR to purchase 20 landing ship minelayers to be called the Kornjaca Class landing ships over the next seven years based on designs developed by Sjeverno Teretno Brodogradilište at the request of DAPR for a landing ship with mine laying capacity which in the aggregate should be able to transport a brigade by sea to alanding site and do minelaying work in the assigned port.

ZLATENICO OKO has learned today that Defense Minister Dragoslav Iacobescu has approved the two proposals on recommendation of the Joint Command staff.

The Kornjaca Class Landing Ships are of a roll on/roll off design with loading ramps in the bow and stern. They have a length of 49.69 meters and beam of 10.2 meters with a draught of 2.6 meters.
They have two diesel engines driving gtwo shafts capable of 1530 horsepower each that propel the vessel at a maximum speed of 23.2 kilometers per hour with a range of 2600 kilometers.

It has armament of stern and side mounted machine guns and anti aircraft missiles. It has a crew of 32 and can carry 152 naval mines or six medium tanks or 300 equipped troops. It is thought 20 should be quite enough to transport any one brigade.

MSCO AT HEART OF MAJATRAN SECURITY POLICY

Carsky Ukrit, April 29, 5369: After a meeting with Defense Minister Dragoslav Iacobescu and the Commander in Chief of the Federal Navy concerning naval procurement priorities, President Ignac Hodza was host in the Auxiliary Presidential Palace, Carsky Ukrit, to a reception for Seleyan Ambassadors and their staff and families. ZLATENICO OKO asked the President what was on his mind and he responded:

The Majatran Security Cooperation Organization (MSCO). Let’s be clear, under ideal circumstances the World Congress would make it unnecessary. But that is not where we are in Terra today. The MSCO exists to protect the sovereignty pf nations in Majatra. And Deltarska Republika is going to continue to honor its obligations and responsibilities under it.

But we are worried that the MSCO will lose support rather than gain it as tensions mount. And this would be a great loss just when it could be a stabilizing factor. We have by no means given up but we are worried.

ZLATENICO OKO then asked the President why the Holy Luthorian Empire was thinking about sending a fleet to Majatra, and he replied:

We really do not know. Reporting suggests Beiteynuese Medinat asked it to do so because of rising anti Yeudi sentiment, but this makes no sense to us. For two reasons. The move if made will increase not reduce anti Yeudi sentiment. And second, it would seem to be saying that Beiteynuese Medinat is fearful and needs help from abroad. Hardly the situation.

Although as indicated we do not understand the reason for the likely move, our military intelligence and the State Intelligence Directorate (SPRZ) are extremely confident the move is not directed against Deltarska Republika.

CARRIER BASED AIRCRAFT FOR NAVY

Defense Ministry, October 12, 5370: Currently our DAC – 1 Class Aircraft Carrier, the DNS Disuva, has an air complement of 25 MiG 29K’s remaining of the 30 that the Defense Agency for Procurement and Research (DAPR) had been authorized to purchase for it on September 13, 5197, from SATURN, one of our most important military aircraft producers.

The Admiralty is recommending that 25 more MiG 29 K’s be produced by SATURN over the next seven years for a total of 50. 38 of them would form Naval Air Wing 5 which would be the DNS Disuva fixed wing aircraft complement. The other 12 would be assigned to Naval Air Wing 53 under the command of the Northern Fleet to furnish replacements as necessary and air superiority and interception duty as needed. It is anticipated that six helicopters will soon be assigned to our DAC – 1 aircraft carrier very soon. ZLATENICO OKO has learned the Joint Command Staff endorsed the recommendation, and it was approved by Defense Minister Dragoslav Iacobescu.

The MiG 29K produced by SATURN is a single seat naval variant of the MiG 29, a twin engine aircraft originally developed for air superiority. The MiG 29K has a stronger undercarriage and a reinforced tail section with an arrestor hook as well as folding wings, a multi function radar, and a cockpit with monochrome display, To protect the engine from foreign objects, the engine inlets have retractable gills and leading edge extension auxiliary intake louvres. It can do aerial refuel and refuel other MiG 29 K’s. With wings folded, it occupies less area than most other fixed wing aircraft used on carriers so more of them can be on deck than with most other fixed wing carrier aircraft

The MiG 29 K has one 30 mm auto cannon in its port wing root, laser guided electro optical bombs, air to air honing missiles, anti ship and anti radar missiles, and air to ground guided missiles. To enhance survivability, it has low observable technology, advanced electronic warfare capabilities, standoff weapons, electronic counter measures and reduced ballistic vulnerability.

It has two after burning turbofan engines, maximum speed of 2200 km per hour and cruising speed of 1500 km per hour. Its range is 1500 km at high altitude and 700 km at low altitude for a combat range of 850 km. It has a service ceiling of 17,500 meters and a rate of climb of 330 meters per second.

ASW COMMAND CONDUCTS EXERCISES IN SEA OF MAJATRA

Defense Ministry, January 12, 5371: ZLATENICO OKO learned that the Federal Navy’s Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Command is currently conducting an exercise in the Sea of Majatra and asked Defense Minister Dragoslav Iacobescu the purpose of the drill, and he responded:

As you are aware, ASW Command has expressed confidence for many years that between its patrolling and the activities of military intelligence and the State Intelligence Directorate that we are aware of what submarines are in the Sea of Majatra. This exercise is to demonstrate that proficiency and detect any shortcomings in our current operational practice that we should correct.

To that end the submarines of the Home Fleet are moving from one point in the Sea of Majatra to another over a sixteen hour period. The Tu – 142 MZ long range anti submarine bombers, and the destroyers, frigates and submarines of ASW Command will all be looking for them. The Admiralty considers this a routine exercise. We have every reason to think we are on top of who is operating submarines in the Sea of Majatra.

ZLATENICO OKO asked the Defense Minister if he thought this was in any way provocative while many were describing the atmosphere in Majatra as a cold war. Iacobescu replied:

We do expect that the Jelbek Khanate will be offended. Beyond that, for three reasons, we are expecting no one will be alarmed. First, ASW Command reports on its activities directly to the Majatran Security Group 1’s Flag Officer who reports on this activity to the Admiral Commanding the Collective Majatran Response Force of the Majatran Security Cooperation Organization (MSCO). So MSCO members are kept informed and know this is part of MSCO readiness.

Second, the Wrnukaek Konzknstat knows it has nothing to fear from Deltarska Republika.

And third, the various Kundrati Union, Lourennais, and Holy Luthorian fleets that come and go to the ports of the Beiteynuese Medinat from time to time to demonstrate their solidarity with that MSCO member nation rarely if ever have any reason to include the Sea of Majatra in their routes and thus will not have any contact with our ASW Command exercise.

IKRADON – DELTARIA TRADE AGREEMENT

Narodna Sabor, August 17, 5371: ZLATENICO OKO asked Foreign Minister Terezia Botosova how looking for new markets was going, and she replied:

It looks like both Deltarska Republika and Federale Republiek van Ikradon will ratify the trade agreement between us. We have long had diplomatic relations and a non aggression pact but no formal trade arrangements.

This trade agreement will open new markets for us. Both of us have natural resources the other is lackking and our manufacturing specialties are different. On balance we both will have more opportunities to sell our goods and services.

Interim Defense Command Headquaters

HELICOPTERS FOR AIRCRAFT CARRIER

Defense Ministry, April 22, 5373: The Admiralty seems to have reached a decision on the helicopters to fill out the air complement of the DNS Disuva, the Federal Navy’s aircraft carrier. Of the six aircraft beyond the 38 MiG – 29 K’s already in Naval Air wing 5, the Admiralty would like six Mil Mi -17’s for search and rescue and utility transport.

The Defense Agency for Procurement and Research (DAPR) was authorized in October 5094 to purchase 80 Mil Mi =- 17’s for the Federal Air Force from Letajici Orel primarily to be used to transport troops. The Federal Navy use will be different but not something the Mil Mi – 17’s can not handle. Letajici Orel is now part of Valkry Dynamics, a subsidiary of The Valkry Group.

The purchase of the six helicopters by DAPR will be over the next two years from Valkry Dynamics to be manufactured at its Milemica Helicopter Factory.

The Mil Mi – 17 is mainly used as a military transport helicopter although it has armament and can be used as a gunship on occasion. It is crewed by three and can carry 24 troops or 12 stretchers or 4000 kg of cargo internally and an additional 1000 kg externally slung. It has two turbo shaft engines driving a main rotor with a diameter of 21.25 meters. Its maximum peed is 280 km/hour with a range of 800 km and a service ceiling of 6000 meters.

The Mil Mi – 17 has two window mounted machi ne guns and six hardpoints that can be used for an auto cannon, anti tank missiles or anti air rockets.
