NAVY ORDERS AIRCRAFT FOR NEW CV

Defense Ministry, July19, 5485: The Admiralty recommended that the same aircraft type in use on the DNS Barukcic.be purchased by the Department of Appropriations for Deltarian Defense (DADD) for use on the new aircraft carrier, DNS Doron Akigo currently under construction. The Federal General Staff concurred and Defense Minister Stefan Skolojan has directed DADD to purchase 10 RH – 24 rotary craft and 50 MiG – 29K fighters for our new Czar Class carrier

The MiG 29K is produced by SATURN and is a single seat naval variant of the MiG 29, a twin engine aircraft originally developed for air superiority. The MiG 29K has a stronger undercarriage and a reinforced tail section with an arrestor hook as well as folding wings, a multi function radar, and a cockpit with monochrome display, To protect the engine from foreign objects, the engine inlets have retractable gills and leading edge extension auxiliary intake louvres. It can do aerial refuel and refuel other MiG 29 K’s. With wings folded, it is smaller than most existing fixed wing aircraft which could be used so more of them can be on deck than otherwise.

The MiG 29 K has one 30 mm auto cannon in its port wing root, laser guided electro optical bombs, air to air honing missiles, anti ship and anti radar missiles, and air to ground guided missiles. To enhance survivability, it has low observable technology, advanced electronic warfare capabilities, standoff weapons, electronic counter measures and reduced ballistic vulnerability.

It has two after burning turbofan engines, a maximum speed of 2200 km per hour and a cruising speed of 1500 km per hour. Its range is 1500 km at high altitude and 700 km at low altitude for a combat range of 850 km. It has a service ceiling of 17,500 meters and a rate of climb of 330 meters per second.

PM ATTENDING BIER QASSEM CONFERENCE

Foreign Ministry, January 12, 5487: ZLATENICO OKO sources at the Foreign Ministry indicate a lot of staff time is going into the Bier Qassem Conference. Foreign Minister Lucian Parvelescu told ZLATENICO OKO:

Prime Minister Milos Tomasek is representing Republika Deltarska at the Conference which seems to be focused on economic matters. He has a support delegation of Finance and Foreign Ministry senior staff who are in communication with the Ministries.

The Finance Ministry is currently dealing with examination of the rather extensive tariff provisions anticipated by the proposed treaty while we looking at other provisions that might affect possible ratification.

An interesting item showed up on the explanatory notes chart. Between “Suspension” and “Expulsion” there appears a box called “Remediation.” We don’t know if the word “remediation” is intended to be rehabilitated or if the common use in Terra is anticipated.

The Badaran press mentioned that Moledet Medinat agreed to attend after details of Deltarian and Dorvish past abuses of predecessor organizations were included in the proposed treaty. Foreign Ministry staff are currently looking for these details as well as the “Remediation” process in the treaty.

HELP WITH SAFETY NET

Finance Ministry, July 29, 5487: Finance Minister Toislav Brnetic met today with Father Milos Slavik, Priest of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church’s (APC) St. Bratislav’s Parish in Cernovar. Father Slavik is also Acting Director of the Cernovar Office of APC Charities which has recently been contacted by the trustees of the Svecova Foundation.

400 years ago former Prezident Nikola Svecova who was imprisoned during the Civil War began an outreach program to locate persons who were entitled to benefits but were not receiving them for any number of reasons. She raised money and recruited volunteers who were then trained and overseen by APC Charities which knew where to look for potential beneficiaries.

The project continued for many years after her death but eventually ran out of operating funds and energy. But a trust fund, The Svecova Foundation, was established with unspent contributions which after several hundred years of shrewd investing and interest accumulation and reinvestment now has a very sizeable fund the Svecova Fund trustees want to use for the original purpose.

The southern part of Disuwa is notorious for a relatively high poverty rate because of its lack of proximity to urban centers with a resultant high level of isolation for those not involved in mining.

The Cernovar APC Charities Office wants to take on this task again with the Svecova Foundation and is asking for access to Health and Social Services Ministry records to help locate people in need to get their benefits.

The Finance Minister assured Father Slavik there will be cooperation from the Health and Social Services Ministry and for that matter that Central Bank on which Social Service clients checks were drawn would cooperate as well.

ADMIRALTY ASSIGNS NEW CV TO EASTERN FLEET

Defense Ministry, February 19, 5491: The Defense Minister Stefan Stolojan issued the following announcement today:

The Admiralty reports that its newest aircraft carrier, the DNS Doron Akigo which was constructed at the Port of Balgrad and remained there doing sea trials, has now been assigned to the Eastern Fleet, Task Force 51, whose home port is Lesnograd and currently consists of 40 Kornjaca Class amphibious landing ships.

The air complement of the Doron Akigo, 38 MiG 29K fighters and 6 RH – 24 attack helicopters, will accompany her to Lesnograd as Naval Air Wing 6. The other currently unassigned naval aircraft, 12 MiG 29 K’s and 4 RH – 24’s will constitute Naval Air Wing 51 in the Eastern Fleet.

Also transferred to Task Forcev 51, the Eastern Fleet, are 5 Udaloy Class destroyers and 2 Voznak Class destroyers from Anti Submarine Warfare Command in Branovica, 8 Buryan Class corvettes from the Home Fleet in Ludelmik and 5 Golub Class frigates from the Northern Fleet in Balgrad.

Asked by ZLATENICO OKO if his recent declination of Secretary General of the MSCO would put us at odds with Moledet Medinat, the Defense Minister replied:

Look, views on Moledet Medinat in our government differ. Have for a long time. The Foreign Ministry and Presidential Palace regard her as a valuable trading partner; a very valuable trading partner. It is no secret that the Admiralty believes the Medinat Department wants to be the bride at every funeral and the corpse at every wedding. In the Chancellery there is a constant optimistic view that this is the time to seriously align with Moledet Medinat only to have something happen that mandates such alignment be later not now.

So what you are mentioning might just might create a very slight ripple; nothing more.

MPN ECONOMIC NICHE

Finance Ministry, July 29, 5491: After a staff meeting on expanding trade, ZLATENICO OKO asked Finance Minister Toislav Brnetic how existing trading was going for Republika Deltarska, and Brnetic responded:

We are currently working with the Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Trade and Industry to review our numerous trade treaties and relations with trading partners to make sure trade relations are smooth.

One thing that has grown considerably but gone largely unnoticed is how two of our prescription drug manufacturers have taken advantage of changing times. As you know, we are one of ten member nations of the Majatran Pharmaceutical Network (MPN) which originally was part of the Majatran Economic Association.

When More Medicaments Manufactures (3M) fell on evil times, MPN purchased the right to the thyroid, cholesterol, plaque psoriasis and high blood pressure accounts oof 3M throughout Terra. Overtime many of the suppliers of these drugs have fallen by the wayside sometimes through collapse or isolation of their national economies and sometimes for other purely business reasons.

In any event, two of our prescription drug manufacturers, Stefanesti Pharma and Ptacek Drug Supplies, became licensed by MPN and have overtime vastly increased sales of these drugs they produce primarily for the elderly to pharmacy chains throughout Terra once served by 3M by filling the gap left by suppliers going out of business and by aggressive pricing practices.

There are parts of the economy the government needs to run. But there is also certainly a place for private enterprise to take advantage of opportunity and help us grow.

DORVISH PRESIDENT, STATE CHANCELLOR AND MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS MAKE STATE VISIT

Foreign Ministry, August 13, 5492: On August 11, President Florian Hohenlohe, State Chancellor Peter Kratochwil and Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentina Kruckenberg of the Dorvische Republik landed at the Airport in Cahtica where they were welcomed by Prime Minister Milos Tomasek and the Dorvish Ambassafdor both of whom accompanied them to the Dorvische Embassy.

That evening, the Embassy held a reception for Foreign Minister Lucian Parvelescu and senior Foreign Ministry personnel hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentina Kruckenberg.

On August 12, the delegation went by motorcade to Carsky Ukrit, the Auxiliary Presidential Palace in the hills to the east of the capital, for substantive talks. President Hohenlohe, State Chancellor Kratochwil and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kruckenberg met with President Kresimir Metajevic, Prime Minister Tomasek and Foreign Minister Parvelescu together with appropriate staff. The main topic under discussion was how the Dorvische Republic and Republika Deltarska could help each other as the former comes out of isolation and the latter begins looking beyond Majatra for trading partners.

Helicopters were available for viewing and photographing the right striking landscape. In the evening, there was a reception at the Auxiliary Palace honoring State Chancellor Kratochwil hosted by Prime Minister Tomacek.

Today, talks continued at Carsky Ukrit on economic interaction. It was agreed ties should be developed that would facilitate cooperation.

Another topic was how safety practices were managed at nuclear plants by each to provide a green alternative without turning into a radioactive disaster. The experience of both had been good in generating electricity by nuclear power.

Another topic was whether in future joint military training and perhaps exercises would be in order. It was agreed this was a good idea as well as continuing discussion on changes in strategic considerations inherent in shifts in the balance of power.

This evening a return to Cahtica will precede a State Dinner honoring President Hohenlohe hosted by President Metajevic. Tomorrow, the Dorvish delegation will return to Haldor.

DEBIT CARD REPLACING SMALL CHANGE??

Finance Ministry, July 29, 5493: After a staff meeting largely spent on discussing cryptocurrency, Finance Minnister Toislav Brnetic told ZLATENICO OKO

Well, one thing we did decide was that Central Bank would be issuing what is in effect a debit card. You may very ask why. Because our basic currency, the Deltarian Telar (DTE) is worth very very little. And people have pockets and purses bulging with coinage that is a fraction of a DTE.

Central Bank will be making available these Central Bank Exchange Cards to individuals and to banks for distribution. The principal difference between these cards and traditional debit cards is that no identification will be necessary to use them. We are thinking they will start at 100 DTE which is what used to be thought of as 5 LOD. They can simply be run out but we are looking at a renewal procedure probably at wherever debit cars are used and certainly at banks.

We are also thinking that they should be able to be added to in a purchase or sale. We are also thinking there is no reason the card needs to be capped at 100 DTE. We are thinking a 5000 cap so most grocery trips could be done with the card. On the other hand we do not want it to unlimited so losing it will not be the end of the world just an inconvenience.

What we are hoping to do is very seriously reduce use of coinage in ordinary transctions.

Asked about crypto, Brnetic responded:

Commercial operations are producing it and a quite volatile market trading in it. Two things concern us. Young and low end economic individuals are trying to pay recurring ordinary expenses with it and criminals such as the Underground are making financial transactions largely irreversible and extremely difficult to trace. We are considering regulation and issuing our own that is pretty much stable.

Asked if he would be a presidential candidate next year, Brnetic said:

President Metajevic is retiring. The consensus in Deltarianska Narodna Strana (DNS) is that four of us have the name recognition to be the DNS candidate. Defense Minister Stefan Stolojan is definitely retiring. So I am one of three likely to be run.
