HMS Unbreakable and KuNS Quintinus Vespacius in a joint sea trial program off the coast of Luthori and Kundrati.Project Albatross under completion and sea trials by the Luthorian and Kundrati NaviesWhen it was announced that Luthori and Kundrati were working together on an aircraft carrier, the world was shocked to learn about how the two countries were working together on a massive project. It was further noticed that the joint effort will be done equally between the two by Luthorian and Kundratijan companies to allow each nation 50% of the work on this massive effort. As a result, companies from both sides of the channel, from shipyards to training personnel and steelworkers, learned with each other how a massive project can be managed.
This was in 5436. The aircraft carrier program has gone through some troubles as a massive project between two nascent powers would, though silently, be due to various events around the world which affected the economies of each other. However, both sides have made it through and persevered with the assistance of Luthori's Imperial Investment Fund and Kundrati's State Investment Bank. However, the two carriers have been spotted in sea trials which makes it more likely that the carriers are close to completion and commissions.
Therefore, HMS Unbreakable and KuNS Quintinus Vespacius began sea trials with aircraft including training programs and the like. The two aircraft carriers will be assigned to their own groups for their own training with HMS Unbreakable going to become the lead ship in its own Carrier Strike Group to ensure Luthorian muscle around the world.
For the KuNS Quintinus Vespacius, named after the
leader of Kundrati during the War of Secession, it will be given its own Carrier Strike Force which will be integrated into the Southern Fleet. Upgrades to the Jildrath City Naval Base are also underway to expand the capabilities for operating an aircraft carrier.
Of note, both carriers will be able to carry 1,600 maximum crew and personnel including air crew. The aircraft carriers will be supplied with 36 MW gas turbine generator units alongside two 9 MW and two 11 MW diesel generator sets which help with the propellers, electrical systems, and other necessary systems for this aircraft carrier. The ships are designed with redundancy in mind allowing for two superstructures allowing for navigation and flight control to be done separately, which helped immensely with construction costs and deck space. Radars are also provided with a navigation radar, a long-range wide-area search and a "...maritime medium-range active electronically scanned array radar..." developed by the two countries.
The carrier itself can allow ten medium size helicopters to land at once for emergency operations though the carrier is designed for six landing spots. A carrier air wing of forty aircraft can be held at any one time. For soldiers of the Luthorian and Kundrati Armed Forces inside this hull, a cinema, five gyms, a chapel with a specially assigned naval chaplain, and four galleys with sixty-seven catering staff are on offer. The medical bay offers eight beds and eleven medical staff including a dental surgery area and an operating theater.
