It is with great sadness that I stand before you here today with sad news. As I'm sure you're all aware, our party made no gains in the recent election albeit a gain of 0.2% of votes cast. This is why I say before you - my party - announcing that I cannot possibly remain as Leader of the Green and Collective Party of Baltusia and will invoke a Leadership Election just as I promised during the campaign. Until then, I will look after the party's wellbeing but I understand if the new leader wishes to change the parties identity but, until then, I will continue to look after our party's wellbeing. I apologize deeply for my failure to secure seats in the election.

Shortly after that address, Amanda Friar was swiftly booed and heckled off stage.
Two contenders for the race - a member of the 'Centrist' faction and a 'Socialist Left' faction member - are already gathering support amongst members. However, both aren't certain about changing the parties identity though the 'Socialist Left' member is adamant that in order to claw back support, the party needs to move further left. Whatever happens, the Green and Collective Party of Baltusia will never be completely the same again - for better or worse is the question...

Maureen Granger says she is also delighted to have been elected as Vice, she said:

I'm delighted that Matthew is our new leader and Im his deputy, together I think we will be a brilliant force in Baltusian politics. My plan is to play a backseat role and assist Matthew where possible, thanks again to all who voted and I look forward to a successful future with the Conservatives!

Shortly after this close result, Freeman spoke to the press outside his office already looking as if he felt the pressure of uniting the party already:

Now is not a time for celebration. Whilst I am pleased that my party members have voted me in, we must get to work in rebranding our party as the 'Baltusian Democratic Greens' and uniting the party as one. In order to achieve success, at another election, I plan to make our party one that stands up for the common person whilst also allowing the private sector a role in society. We shall be a truly Centre Left party. Thank You Everyone!

His competitor - Grace Trent - wouldn't speak to the media afterwards and instead stormed to her car. An hour later , it was revealed that she had resigned from the now Baltusian Democratic Green Party.
This will be a truly testing time for the party and it's new leader.

NEWMAN WILL RUN FOR RE-ELECTION, RECIEVES SUPPORT FROM NBP LEADERS

President Clara Newman announced in a speech in Gevaro that she will run for re-election promising to build on her success to achieve her promise to Baltuisans to achieve “new economic heights and outstanding achievement”. Newman appeared at the rally alongside Party Chairwoman Katy Townsend and Vice-Chair Susan Rowers. Former Senator and Justice Minister Cynthia Moon was also in attendance where she gave an endorsement of Newman for pushing for tax cuts and reigning in wasteful spending and from overhauling the capital police and improving safety of Baltusia. Newman also promised to push for further tax cuts to help “spur a surge of job growth within the private sector including wage growth as well”.

“I have been proud over these last years to serve as your President it has been an honored and today I announce my intentions to seek a second and final term as President. Together we have pushed and secured passage of tax cuts and better efficient federal budget, leading to a growing economy and private sector. We have passed a balanced budget amendment to our constitution to ensure our government never falls into deficit spending ever again. Our defense and weapons systems have been fully upgraded and overhauled including our capital police leading to a more secured Baltuisa than ever.

Going forward I plan to achieve higher test scores for our schools across the nation, make renewable energy primary source of energy for the government, and to complete the successful missions of several space mission objectives if Congress passes the NSAA bill on the floor now. We will pass further tax cuts and rein in wasteful spending to achieve even new prosperous heights for our economy. “

NBP party officials confirmed the party has deployed volunteers and staff nationwide to help elect candidates up and down the ballot and to re-elect Newman as President. Rowers has taken to running day to day operations of the parties’ entire campaign organization while Townsend and Moon have been active holding campaign events for candidates and town halls.

PATRIOTIC PARTY BACKS PRESIDENT NEWMAN FOR FOUR MORE YEARS

In a speech to Right Wing Alliance members, Patriotic Party Leader and Alliance Chairperson Bathsheba Grey called on all parties to back President Newman's bid to seek re-election.

She said: "Given that President Newman has decided to run for re-election for a second and final term of office, I call on all Right-Wing Alliance members to endorse her. Under her leadership, we have had stable Government for the first time for many years - the last being the Burgmuller era - and our coalition cabinet has worked well together.

"As parties we don't agree on every policy but that is not the point - on the majority of key decisions we work well together and are driving our nation forward like never before.

I hope all parties will join me in endorsing her."

LEITCH ENDORSES NBP NEWMAN FOR THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL TERM

Today in an interview with the Baltusian Offical News Agency Matthew Leitch, leader of the Conservative Party of Baltusia said that President Newman had his backing for the next session of Congress.

I think that president Newman is an excellent centrist figure in Baltusian politics. I think she has brought stability to this great nation in a time of international conflict and terrorism. She has my party's full endorsement and I look forward to working alongside her and my other colleagues in the Right Alliance as leader of The Conservatives in the next Presidential Term.
