The Odd Totalitarians

Postby TheCollectivist » Mon Jun 26, 2017 2:28 am

January 4232

After nearly two decades of consecutive leadership, Warren Platt (40 years old) leads one of Hutori's oldest and arguably oddest political parties. Since its inception in 4087 by Alfred Putnam, an insignificant gardener, the party's history is a mix of political controversies, under the radar initiatives (the party's paramilitary, the Hutorian Proletarian Guard, remains unchallenged, albeit unarmed) and ideological stagnation. The party's ideology remains one of its most controversial and strangest features. Being a self-described "syncretic totalitarian" party, the Bekenial has conducted an interview with Platt in order to refresh those who have forgotten the idiosyncrasies of the Proletarians' ideology:

Warren Platt wrote:We are a very unconventional party. We're sometimes called communists, and for the most part that's a fairly accurate description, but when it comes to comparing us to other communist parties, that is where we differ significantly. We support abortion, but oppose all forms of sexuality, especially the 'alternative' kinds. We believe you should abstain from recreational drugs. The state should remain as decentralized as possible, with maximum control given to local governments. We believe our nation must become a nation of highly independent and self-sustainable societies.

Locally speaking, we want total workers' control organized by self-managing workers' councils that represent a specific industry. We want those who commit murder, rape and other heinous crimes to be executed, albeit through the most peaceful means possible. We support science and reject religion and other superstitions. Those who want to die should be given the option of euthanasia. Those who refuse to contribute to society should be regarded as parasites and deported.

Surveillance must be all-pervasive to ensure society functions based on evidence, not witness testimonial and so that those that commit crimes are held accountable - society is protected. It is a moral imperative to refuse any desire to reproduce, bringing life into an existence capable of experiencing suffering of any kind is ultimately immoral and best prevented - sterilization mandatory. The individual does not continue to survive in their offspring, but rather ceases to exist entirely upon death, therefore reproduction is not a suitable method of individual survival - genes have no conscience.

Regardless of these beliefs, we believe the primary threat to society is that of pseudoscience, medical quackery of all kinds must be persecuted - eliminated. Superstition is a social cancer that usually begins in early age, religious indoctrination must be outlawed, especially if it is directed at the youth. That said, we are also against the movements to normalize gender-bending and other medically inaccurate lifestyles.

Our party attracts those on the far-left and those on the far-right, although more the former than the latter, all of our party members adhere to our ideology absolutely - we tolerate no deviation.

Platt reasserted his party's totalitarian nature when asked whether or not his part could be classified as "progressive" or "socially liberal":

Platt wrote:A fascist may support animal rights, but they still are a fascist. We may be predominantly far-left and hold some views some people regard as progressive, but make no mistake, we are at the core a totalitarian party that seeks to control every aspect of our adherents' lives, save for their thoughts, which is their only really true personal liberty. We are intolerant of internal deviation, strict, but are also very compassionate and peaceful. We may advocate for your death depending on your actions, but rest assured, we will end your life in the most peaceful way possible. Not even the most vile individual in existence deserves to suffer.

When asked how his party has survived through its mandatory celibacy practices of its members, Platt stated:

Platt wrote:Obviously this is because some selfish, instinctive person decided to get pregnant and give birth. We will exist for as long as their offspring come to their senses. When others stop reproducing or humanity degenerates to a point where instinct totally takes over, we will cease to exist.

Platt has stated that like his predecessors, he will also choose to be euthanized when he no longer can be "of use to society".

Consulate in Eastern Kalopia-Wuntani Upgraded to Full Embassy

Image
Hutorian Embassy in Downtown Malah

Foreign Affairs Minister Amelia Woodbury was on hand to announce that the Hutorian Consulate-General in Malah, in the Federal Republic of Kalopia-Wuntani was being upgraded to Full Embassy status with a full time Ambassador as the Federal Republic of Hutori offered full diplomatic recognition to East Kalopia-Wuntani.

Woodbury stated this step affirmed Hutori's commitment to the ideals of self determination and freedom of choice and applaud the East Kalopia-Wuntain government for chose their own path even as the rest of their nation were members of the MRSF.

Up to this point Hutori kept the eastern Democratic half of the nation in a state of legal limbo, neither confirming it's status as a independent nation, nor denying it. This move by Woodbury is seen as a move to gain favor in Romula, Bekenial's closest ally in the southern hemisphere outside of Zardugal, who have retreated from international affairs in recent years. It's already been confirmed that the former Consul General, Curtis McGraw was being promoted to full Ambassador to the small Federal Republic and his staff was being expanded to take on the extra responsibility.

Foreign Minister Woodbury is next expected in Romula itself to meet with the Istalian government to discuss trade, security, the XF-43 Programme and doubtlessly the MRSF and recent moves by Kafuristan to join the communist superstate.

First Steel Cut on the HNS-John Graham

Image

Hard construction has finally begun on the next generation Hutorian Aircraft Carrier, the John Graham one of two planned Graham Supercarriers expected to be built by Prosperity Iron Works over the next 15 years. The second of her class the Arianna Woodbury is expected to begin construction in 4240, after the launch of the first. The two new Carriers will be replacing the Queen Sarah class Aircraft Carriers currently in service.

The two Supercarriers are the beginning of a massive Naval Expansion Program by the Hutorian Navy who are planning on adding almost 40 vessels to their Navy in the coming years in an effort of mass modernization and reasserting Hutorian naval hegemony in the northern hemisphere that has been paramount following the withdrawal of Indrala and Trigunia from international affairs. In addition to the Supercarriers, almost 30 Destroyers and Frigates have been ordered, mostly to be fill by the Wayne Shipwright Corporation out of Axminister.

As the construction was underway Minister of Defence Isaac Ross was in Axminister itself to see off the HNS-Queen Sarah as it began an international port of call tour to lead her into retirement. The HNS-Queen Sarah is the most decorated aircraft carrier in the Hutorian Navy having been the spearhead for many of the military operations launched overseas by Hutori since it's commissioning in 3899. It's first stop is expected in Kazulla as it makes it's way around Terra.

Corporation Tax Not Good, Platt Says

Postby TheCollectivist » Wed Jun 28, 2017 9:30 pm

June 4233

In response to the recent proposals to solve the nationwide deficit, which included cuts to social services from the right and a very small corporate tax rate from the left, Warren Platt, the leader of the Proletarians, thinks he has the best solution.

Warren Platt wrote:Ideally, we wouldn't have the need to have so much federal spending, but since unfortunately we live in a very federal system, we must adapt. Obviously, we can't and shouldn't spend more than we make and the current deficit is unacceptable. However, decreasing funding to social services while increasing military spending is nonsensical. Of course we need a strong military, whether it be a federal or ideally, a decentralized one controlled by local governments. That said, this isn't much worth defending if our people are facing severe neglect in essential services. What we must do is decrease the budget of Foreign Affairs to 4 billion. This may reduce the amount of traveling government bureaucrats can do, but then again, we have to fix our country first before we can even think of telling the rest of the world what they should do. With the stated decrease in foreign affairs spending, we will be able to break even without changing anything else.

As for corporate taxes, they shouldn't exist while we have income taxes. It doesn't make sense to tax things twice. Make sure everyone earning a living in the country is paying at least some level of taxes, but keep them as low as possible on a federal level. Really what we need to do is to become a co-operative confederation and begone with this one-size-fits-all unitarism nonsense.

Steuart Endorses Federalist Candidate for President

At a press conference at Steuart House earlier today Richard Steuart announced he would not be seeking the Presidency of Hutori in the coming June elections instead endorsing Jason Carmichael of the Federalists or whomever ultimately won their nomination.

Image

It is my opinion that the Federalists habe the best chance of returning the Hutorian Presidency to relevancy. The sad truth is that despite her best effort Kim Bakota has not been a good President. Her Ministers in cabinet have been widely silent except when it came time to pass a new budget. Her chosen coalition partners the Hutori Progressives have been a quote lot; the Conservatives own Mitchell Court has been a more vocal leader in the Senate then any other. I do not know whether or not Minister Woodbury and Senator Court will support another term in coalition with the National Progress Party in the Senate or cabinet but I can state that I personally will be supporting and endorsing the Federalists candidate for President and hope that our unlikely allies in the Hutorian Proletarian Party will join us in supporting a President we have found ourselves agreeing with more then any other.

The Federalists, Conservatives and Proletarians have formed an odd coalition voting the same way on most legislation during the last seating of the Senate while, despite being members of the Coailtion, very few Bills have been jointly voted on by the Conservatives and NPP with Senator Mitchell Court, the Conservative Senate Leader, having offered some of the most harsh critism of government Bills during Question Period.

Both Conservative Party Leader, Minister of Foreign Affairs Amelia Woodbury, and Senator Court offered no comment on the Chairman's announcement beyond short terse statements.

Statement by Minister Woodbury

"As a member of the President's Cabinet I can not offer any comment in regards to the Chairman's statement and endorsement. As far as I'm aware I still hold the convience of the President and Prime Minister and will continue to serve at their pleasure until I am asked otherwise."

Statement by Senator Court

"I have my own races to watch and run and can't speak on the Presidential race as I am not running for President nor is it Party putting forward a Candidate. As for the current coalition, who can say what the make up of the Senate will be after June 8th. As a caucus we will see how the seats line up and vote as a group to decide whether we will support a Coalition with the largest party or sit on the Oppositon benches.

Former President Jason Carmichael Announces Presidential Bid

Image
Jason Carmichael

Today in a press conference former president Jason Carmichael not only announced his candidacy for president but, outlined his vision for Hutori.

I envision a strong Hutori, a Hutori that's strong militarily, economically and morally. A nation that can be a beacon of hope to the rest of Terra. For too long the National Progress Party has weakened us in all three categories they have failed to provide leadership in times of economic uncertainty. They have failed to provide military security for future Hutorians, they have just utterly failed. Instead they focus on the removal of human rights and the institution of governmental monopolies. Let's stop this, let us build not destroy. Let us build a better and stronger Hutori!

From Mr. Carmichael's speech it appears that if he's elected he will pursue the Laissez-faire economics his party is known for as well as continue the military expansion project he initiated back in his first term and that Minister Ross has continued.

HNS-Queen Sarah Redirected to Kalopia

While in the middle of her international naval tour, reports from the Ministry of Defence have reported that the HNS-Queen Sarah and her Battlegroup have been redirected off the coast of the Federal Republic of Kalopia-Wuntani in support of Kalopian and Istalian forces there attempting to maintain the peace. Very few other details were given because of the sensitivity of the redeployment.

The Queen Sarah's Battlegroup is a standard Hutorian Carrier Battlegroup with the Queen Sarah itself at its base and supported by at least 3 Bekenial class Frigates, the Bekenial, Acton and Saint Adrian, two Liberty class Destroyers, the Liberty and Edward Moore, and two Mashacara class Destroyers, the Owise and the Althor. Standard Hutorian Naval doctrine also indicates the Battlegroup is escorted by at least one Sentinel class Submarine though Operational Protocol forbids the Navy from confirming or denying which Submarines are actively deployed or where.

There has also been movement at Joint Forces Base Jameson indicating Hutorian ground forces would be deployed, confirmed by Hutorian Joint Operations Command to be the 1st Marine Expeditonary Regiment, which would deploy as peacekeepers to assist government forces and their Istalian allies in keeping the peace.

Carmichael Wins!

After the announcement of Carmichael's presidential victory a press conference was held at the Federalist Party Headquarters in Port Prosperity, Kenai.

Image
Jason Carmichael at the public address

First and foremost I would like to thank the voters, not just those that voted for myself but, all of them. You took part in one of the greatest forms of government ever devised, democracy and you performed your civic duty. You took part in the institution that makes our society one of the greatest in Terra. I would also like to thank my colleagues in the Conservative party for their endorsement and their hard work. Especially Amelia and Mitchel without them this campaign would have been a much more difficult road.

I would also like to express how encouraged I am to see the Hutorian people vote for a Better and Stronger Hutori. We will build up our economy, our strength and we will fortify our indomitable moral character. I am excited for what these next four years hold and I am excited to be able to lead Hutori into a new era of Prosperity.

Martin McCaskill statement on last election

Image

After the official results, the leader of Social Liberal Party released a statement:

First of all I wanna personally to thank all the people who voted for our party, who believed in our project and in our ideas. In this election we've been the party who had the major seat increasing and, despite the difference in our values and visions, we accepted the Federalist Party offer to join in their cabinet coalition with the Conservative. I wanna congratulate to our new Ministry of Education and Culture Henry Bullock, our new Ministry of Food and Agriculture Donna Jackson and our new Ministry of Environment and Tourism Amanda Lohan. I'm sure that they have the abilities to work with Feds and Conservative for the sake of our great country. Good work and good luck!
