Breaking news: IstalAir's Flight crashes into Majatra LakeAircraft stalled due to ash and emissions from the Tanhri Eruption and unable to land in Jelbania, pilots attempted a water landing, but with disastrous resultsThe official communication from IstalAir was released only this morning: an airliner headed to Yishelem crashed in the night into Lake Majatra, sinking with all 278 passengers and crew members.
The Flight ISA 908, departed from the International airport of Milona-Turrino at 17.30 yesterday, after about six hours of flight, flying over the Deltaro-Jakanian border, announced that it had stumbled into a cloud of ash and volcanic emissions pushed in a short time from the high winds to cross the flight path. Because of the conflict in Jelbania and therefore of the nuclear explosion, which has put out of use the electronic equipment in the radius of kilometers and kilometers, the weather alert service in the area is now practically absent and it is precisely for this reason that for many years flights that should fly over the area are forced to deviate to pass above the Majatran Sea or south, over Jakania and Cobura.
With the escalation of the Jelbanian crisis, the routes above the northern shores of Deltaria and Jelbania were also banned from commercial flights now, forcing all flights to divert south or to the islands to the north.
The volcanic emissions of the Tanhri, until yesterday contained in the Jelbanian area, are rapidly expanding, covering the skies of neighboring countries, especially those facing south and east (Jakania, Deltaria until now) due mainly to high-altitude jet streams. IstalAir also criticized the Deltarian flight control that would not transmit information on the meteorological situation (according to the latest communication from Flight 908 the on-board atmospheric radar detected the ash cloud suddenly deviating from the north just from the Jelban-Deltarian border and then lowering altitude.
The pilots have announced that, unable to dodge, they found themselves in a very short time in the middle of the cloud and in a few minutes the alarms of the engines were activated because of the ash that began to damage them.
After ten minutes of flight, entered the Jelbanian territory, and after several requests for emergency landing in nearby Jelbania (tribal area in the the south-west) that have not been answered, the pilots have tried to divert south to reach Jakania.
At 2.58 am, with one of the latest communications, from the plane the pilots felt the impossibility of reaching Jakania and announced that they would attempt an emergency ditching on Lake Majatra. At 3.09 the latest communication: "even the flight controls are abandoning us, we can not hold the quota, ash weighs down the aircraft, we will try an emergency landing in Lake Majatra...".
Relatives, friends and acquaintances of those on board the Flight are already gathering in the headquarters of IstalAir, mainly in Milona, hoping to receive further news from the company which said: "we have lost contact with Flight 908 not far from the coburan waters of Lake Majatra, we have already contacted the Coburan authorities to request assistance for search and rescue operations, we will release further communications as soon as we have more elements".
According to the passenger list on board there were: 6 crew members (all Istalians), 204 Istalian citizens, 49 Beiteynese citizens, 11 Pontesian citizens, 3 Malivians, 2 Barmenians, 2 Vanukeans and 1 Coburan citizen. The Istalian authorities are already reaching out the Foreign Ministries of the nations whose citizens were on board the flight.
Between natural disasters and an interminable civil war, also devastated by the nuclear blast, the Jelbanian crisis continues to make victims while the world is questioning the outcome of a conflict that could see all the great powers get involved and therefore a worse ending epilogue.
