Formation of the Kivonian Republican Party
A new hosian democratic pro-kivonian party forms to contest the ruling DPP

After many weeks of preparations, lawyer and former military officer Germund Erichsen announced on the 1st of March 4710 in a public speech the formation of the Kivonian Republican Party. The KRP have one day after the announcement been registered to local and national elections, and has intended to run on a staunchly conservative and hosian democratic platform. The party has described itself as Center-right to Right-wing as opposed to the ruling DPP who officially is Center-left to Left-wing, and that the KRP has officially made Kivonian Nationalism and Hosian Democracy as the main ideologies of the party. The KRP has publicly stated that their main goal is the restoration of the late Kivonian Republic, who were founded and ruled by the infamous and authoritarian 'National Salvation Military Council' junta during the late 4500's and through out the early and mid 4600's. The leader of the KRP, Erichsen did also praise some of the rulers of the late Republic:
The Kivonian Republic were governed by competent and by that great men like Dictators August Reinhardt and Dieter Delvental, as well as Consul and later on Emperor; Oskar Hartenstein. These men are the ones who did build something truly astonishing and that is what I wish to accomplish, to once more restore their legacies for a great Kivonia.

With that statement the Kivonian Republican Party has claimed it to be the legitimate political successor of the National Salvation Military Council, they have with that also adopted the flag of the Kivonian Republic as one of their main party symbols to be used at public rallies and events. They however has made it clear that the democratic values the current Davostani Republic is built upon is to be cherished and protected so to continue the freedom of Kivonians and Davostanis.

Office for Religious and Cultural Affairs reports sizable decline in practicing faiths
Combining reports over the past fifteen years, ORCA's findings highlight a steady (and likely still growing) decline of the country's two most major religions.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Since the end of religious violence in both Kymár and Dovmark in the late 4690s, the nation has seen a steady rise in economic growth, political reform, and diplomatic outreach. Ripples with regards to such peace were felt far and wide across the country, especially true with regards to religious institutions in the nation. The ruling Democratic People's Party's enshrining of a secular government, while also combining protections and freedoms for two of the largest religions in the nation saw further alleviation of lingering tensions between the Hosian and Satanailic faiths - And the foundation of mutual understanding of each other's traditions and customs via the creation of the Office for Religious and Cultural Affairs, commonly known as ORCA. Even recently, both religions were given status as the official faiths of the country within the newly adopted constitution.

With such peace, has come an unexpected result - at least to some. Recently publicized statistics from ORCA have noted a steady and still growing decline of practicing members for both the Hosian and Satanailic faiths, and a growth in agnostic or atheist citizens, with small increases in other minority religions across the country. In some provinces, church-goers have dropped by as much as 23%. Numerous plausible theories have been attributed by analysts to such a steady rise in irreligious citizens - with many citing the enshrining of religious freedom within law (and to a lesser extent, the constitution itself), the rise of a growing economy, and a shared mutual understanding between ethnic and religious groups as factors for such a drop.

"I think we're looking at a multilayered cause here," Lars Hanssen, Chair of the Office of Religious and Cultural Affairs stated before an interview. "Many factors often contribute to such a complex situation as this, specifically with regards to both ethnic and religious matters. The rise in jobs, mutual understanding among citizens through our office's initiatives, and formal religious protections by law all equally contribute to this growth among irreligious citizens. Despite this, both the Hosian and Satanailic faith have their freedoms and customs protected - No matter how many church-goers decline. And to top it off, there hasn't been blood spilled in the streets in the name of religion in years, and I think that's something practically anyone can be thankful for."

Mineral companies to invest in Likatonia
After securing two 100 square mile plots of land in the nation, the Kyrmár-based Norðurmálmar (Northern Metals), and the Dovmark-based Møllested Soegere Virksomhed (Møllested Borers Corporation) have began setting up shop, as well as investing into the region itself.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

With the ruling DFP having secured another term under PM Hemmingsen, international business ventures took to the forefront of the Hemmingsen government's second term, reaching out to the nation of Likatonia, in Seleya. Recent discoveries of precious metals alongside other items contributed to a surge in international investment from other nations - namely Dorvik and Hutori, eventually attracting the attention of two entities within Davostan. Such entities were the Dovmark based Møllested Soegere Virksomhed (Møllested Borers Corporation), headquartered in Møllested, on the isle of Dovmark. Another notable corporation to purchase land in the area was Norðurmálmar, or Northern Metals, headquartered in the nation's capital.

Hailing the investment as a foundation to establish free trade, Finance Minister Therkelsen stated keen interest in expanding the reach of national businesses outwards, a long-stated goal of his office. "I think what we're seeing here is a great test run of sorts," the FM stated in a public interview. "Despite the initial cost of the investment from both these national companies, they're already seen a rise in dividends - Extraction has unearthed numerous metals, and materials alongside gemstones. The diverse variety in international corporations in the region is also cause for establishing trade ties as well. We're finally seeing a break from that slow, inactive slog of activity that Davostan saw under centuries of oppression by countless governments. The economy is rising, and there are many factors that are feeling the ripple from such positivity."

Both companies, according to recent reports publicized from each, have also hired a sizable number of Likatonians within their workforces in the nation. An estimated 35-40% of operations within West Bolton consist of native Likatonian workers. A majority of raw materials that were refined have also been noted to be imported more so than exported. The reasoning for higher import rates was unknown, but trends did indicate a gradual rise of exporting of materials to industries and corporations within Likatonia in the distant future.

Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport set to meet 20 year goal for highway revitalization
At a public conference this afternoon, current Infrastructure and Transport Minister Svend Þjóðarsson stated revitalization efforts are "looking exceedingly likely" to meet the currently set 20 year deadline for a major building of new roadways, alongside improving aging infrastructure.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Having been put into action over a decade ago, with a target for 4727 - The current Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Svend Þjóðarsson spoke before a public conference today with members of Kyrmár's public utilities agencies, highlighting a number of topics; Most importantly being a highlighting of the current revitalization plan of national infrastructure as well as roadways. "We're on the right track. New roads have been completed in and around most major cities, and a significant portion of damaged or aged roads in Kyrmár have been repaired. Efforts in Dovmark are continuing as we speak, moving at a steady pace as well. It's looking exceedingly likely that, unless something grave is to disrupt this project, we're slated to quickly reach our two decade target."

The revitalization plan, while much needed, has seen some criticisms from more rural populations of both Dovmark and Kyrmár. Despite being few and far between, concerns were raised as to whether the proposed new roadways would affect local townships and villages, as well as questions raised over noise pollution on some more larger additions. In Þjóðarsson's closing statements, a portion of which was reserved for questions from the public - he seemed to meet such concerns that'd been brought before his ministry since the plan's fruition. "We are actively developing solutions to ensure these additions are unobtrusive," he stated in response. "Our key goal from within this project is, above all, to ensure the daily lives of citizens aren't hampered or put under duress. Sometimes it's unavoidable, yes - But we believe we can minimize such instances."

Building has reportedly already been finished on major roadways in the provinces of Hafnarlavik and Breiðdalstanes - leaving the region of Kyrmár essentially finished, bar certain minor finalizations. Construction crews that'd completed the aforementioned provincial roadways were reportedly reassigned to assist crews active in Davostan, to ensure steady progress, or as Þjóðarsson suggested - Furthering current progress in the hopes of seeing an early completion.

PM Hemmingsen suffers stroke, passes away - leaving the nation in mourning
Whilst speaking before a session of the Folketinget, the veteran politician Oda Hemmingsen, both Head of Government and the leader of her own party, suffered a massive stroke and died before the floor of the legislature.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A wave of shock has consumed both regions of the Republic with news of the Prime Minister's sudden and abrupt passing. Townships and villages have already ordered moments of silence, alongside flags to be held at half mast for the following week. A similar sight has played out in the national capital, Kyrmár. Having served in politics for well over several years, Oda Hemmingsen began as a progressive within the Democratic People's Party, a relatively small yet more left-wing faction of the dominantly socially liberal party that advocated for strengthening existing labor regulations and deepening the welfare state across the nation.

Trying and losing in her first election as nominee for Prime Minister, Hemmingsen gathered herself after her loss to the Samlingspartiet some time ago - and eventually fate would present itself in the form of a decisive victory after the SP's disbanding for unforeseen reasons, leading to an uncontested election and the reemergence of a DFP majority in the Folketinget, as well as sweeping both the offices of President and Prime Minister. Under her lengthy tenure as PM Davostan saw further outreach with the outside world, alongside taking on a litany of infrastructure projects, as well as developing a new yet prosperous economy.

However, Davostan had noticed a retreat back into isolation in the latter years of her terms - leaving political analysts wondering at the move. Despite the missteps, in her final years the nation saw itself set to complete major roadway projects, as well as continuing to develop renewable forms of resources as the dominant force of national energy output - with statistics indicating that the nation was as of this publication still on track to achieve 100% green energy by 4750.

The PM's death came as a surprise to all - during an act she had undertaken countless times over the years, and in stride: The convening of a session of the Folketinget. Holding a session of the national legislature before the speaker's podium to discuss current infrastructure projects in the province of Sønderhavn, deputies noticed the PM's speech began to become slurred, and as she exited the podium, collapsed before the floor of the Folketinget, sending expenditure papers fluttering in all directions. Funeral plans have been arranged for next week, and attendance is expected within the hundreds to thousands.

"In accordance with the constitution, elections will be ordained as soon as possible - though we are considering other legal alternatives," Jens Nilsson, spokesperson for the PM's office stated before journalists. "We only consider other means due to the close proximity of another election. If a vacancy is the only option, then we will see to it that the Federal Supreme Court of the Republic (FSCMR) hears an appeal on behalf of the executive."

2nd March 4627 (OOC: Postdated)
February elections conclude with historic election of nation's first indigenous President
Replacing the four term incumbent Felix Lassen in a surprising showing, Violetta Adlartok, formerly Chairman of the Søndrhavn province and of Mashacara ancestry made history last month as the first indigenous politician to be elected President.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

With the vacancy that had been created following the unfortunate death of Prime Minister Hemmingsen, after much deliberation by both the executive and the Federal Supreme Court of the Republic (FSCR), elections were to continue on with normal as opposed to arranging snap elections immediately after the PM's death - A move which was met with mixed feelings among deputies of the Folketinget. Regardless, the February elections came and went, with three delegates campaigning under the wings of the DFP, with Violetta Adlartok's more socially-liberal leaning wing coming out on top in nomination contests, before securing the Presidency in an uncontested race. However within the DFP itself, the party is still rigidly in control of social democrats - although Adlartok hints at arranging fresh elections within the party in the closing of her victory speech.

Last month's elections also marked the historic election of the nation's first indigenous politician to the office of the President. Violetta Adlartok, 35, previously served as the Chairman of the Søndrhavn province under the second term of President Lassen and is of Mashacara ancestry. Under her tenure as Chairman, Søndrhavn experienced relative economic growth with the rest of the country, in some areas pulling ahead of current growth rates for certain national industries, such as logging and software engineering. The province under her tenure had also seen the growth of the small business sector, in part due to moderate tax cuts for local businesses.

Adlartok's victory has seemingly been interpreted by political analysts as a sort of "return to force" of the previously dominant ideology of the DFP: Social liberalism with occasional progressivism, both economic and social. "I've always seen myself as a believer in the values that guided this party when it founded our modern Republic, and staved off radicalism," Adlartok stated during her victory speech. "Progressive policies as well as being socially liberal have allowed this nation to blossom from a dictatorship to a welcoming, tolerant nation - And we still have yet to stumble, ever ready to continue prospering as the years go by."

The incumbent President campaigned on a platform of increased cooperation with the Prime Minister and the Folketinget - And to work with deputies to craft legislation which protects the rights of indigenous tribes across the nation, all of which have little to no representation aside from rights guaranteed as citizens of the Republic. Adlartok also rallied for financial reform and the moderate lowering of corporate and luxury sales tax rates, to further encourage both foreign and domestic investment within Davostan. The most interesting of policies championed by the young leader is the revamping of autonomy for both Dovmark and Kyrmár - with talks of the establishment of regional legislatures alongside national level administrative changes being floated among Adlartok and her cabinet.

Among other things, during the campaign trail the DFP did successfully name a new Leader during the brief period of uncertainty following Oda Hemmingsen's death. Having been elected by a mere 5,649 vote margin was Örn Einisson, Secretary-General of the DFP's Kyrmár (The city, that is) branch, once again making history as the first ethnic Kivonian to hold the post.

Adlartok government puts forth major administrative reforms
With relative quiet from the Folketinget aside from tax cuts to encourage domestic and foreign trade, tranquility was graciously interrupted with the proposing of major regional autonomy reforms on behalf of the Adlartok administration.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Spoken about briefly by incumbent President Violetta Adlartok during her campaign trail was the reworking of the foundation of the federal government as a whole (alongside legislation to improve indigenous rights), with the establishment of autonomy for both Davostan and Kivonia, regions which have had few times of relative peace unlike the past few decades - with each one wishing to exert influence over the other in some form for countless centuries. Now such concerns seem to be dissipating back into the pages of history with the Folketinget's introduction of the Autonomies and Federation Act of 4731 before the floor this week, laying out several provisions for the creation of two constituent regions of the nation - them being Davostan and Kivonia respectively.

Alongside various articles laying out portions of autonomy to be granted to each was Article VII, which upon the passage of the legislation would establish the Federation of Davostan-Kivonia, effectively rendering an end to the Republic of Davostan, a nation of which the DFP formed out of the ashes of the theocratic Satanailist dictatorship of decades past. "This is merely a step towards a more equal future," President Adlartok stated in an address to the Folketinget. "For years now our citizens have lived in peace, freedom, and strong democracy - but the ambiguities towards both regions of this nation remained up in the air. Our Republic was founded with the name of a single region upon it, which led many to suspect that tired notion of dominance from one region unto another. Within the coming days, and with the confidence of this legislature, that shall be no more. Finally, for the first time in centuries - millennia even, both regions of this proud country shall be represented as a whole, and receive the administrative rights they deserve."

Introduced parallel to the major batch of legislation was further reforms, in the form of an increase of seats of the national legislature, raising the amount of deputies from 230 to 560, as well as the formal name changing of the office of the Head of State to the Chancellor of the Federation. Political analysts have hailed the move as one of much need for practically years at this point - with lack of autonomy for both regions being cited as a key reason which could illicit instability in matters of ethnic or cultural tensions, despite strong protections for each being given in the historic Religious Freedoms and Cultural Protections Act of 4699.
