Dunburg: The new minority government, through a initiative from the DLVP in government, has proposed a sweeping civil rights act to the Reichstag named the "Civil Rights Act" which would, if passed, once again allow abortions, euthanasia and a variety of other freedoms to the Dundorfian populace. But as DLVP lawmakers are vouching for the bill in parliament the party leadership is fearing it might not even pass the Reichstag, with the new government partner the Volksgemeinschaftspartei showing signs of fascist rhetoric after entering the minority government just three months ago. The party has proposed measures to ban religion, enforce forced labour in the prison system and more proposals that DLVP leadership calls, "abhorent and against everything Dundorfian.", and several prominent DLVP members are wondering whether it was smart to enter a government with the VGP. The new CRA is ambitious however, and parliamentary leader for the DLVP Alexander Pach has stated that if its only coalition partner doesnt approve of the bill they will look at others to gather the necessary support to pass it, though it will likely be hard to do so.

Reichskanzler Heiner meanwhile is worried, leading a minority government that already seems to struggle to pass any meaningfull legislation. In an effort to still realize some of her electoral promises, the Reichskanzler has drafted the "Presidential Decree Act" with her fellow party members, which would grant the President even more powers to rule if cabinet or the regular government in general would be to fragmented/weak to do so. She and her party members are arguing that with these increased powers, the government will always have a president to count on, even if the coalition process and regular government fail to perform their duties. But this initiative might not pass either, with some parties actively supporting reducing the powers of the president, taking away the right for the president to appoint a chancellor for example. With these early fractures in the already weak minority government and the DLVP desperately trying to find support for its own agenda, what will the future hold for Dundorf? And will a DLVP led government remain a reality?

Grozvic: In a major twist of events that has seen the Reichsländer of Grozvic in a state of emergency for two full days around 5 people have been killed and over a hundred wounded in what can be described as a, "series of bloody ideological clashes on the streets of our region." said Landspresident Adolf Schweindel. The events, which have seen the "Die Linke Verteidiging" militants and various fascist and right wing groups clash in the streets were reportedly caused by the volatile political situation in Dunburg, in particular the fascist tendencies of the now governing VGP. The militant wing of the ruling DLVP, though officially not part of the party, stated on social media that, "if DLVP leadership doesnt take responsibility and denounces working with clear fascists, well take matters into our own hands and expell them ourselves." Shortly after that statement, groups armed with bats and in some cases even guns marched through Grozvic carrying banners saying "Out with the Fascists!" and "DLVP Shame!". Landspresident Adolf Schweindel allerted local authorities and ordered them to stand by and control the situation. The Reichspolizei, controlled by the Reichskanzler, has not moved into Grozvic yet to assist despite calls from the Grozvic government for help, with the office of Reichskanzler Heiner stating that, "The current situation does not demand federal aid."

Meanwhile local authorities and police departments struggle to control the violence. Karlsborn, the Grozvic capital, was the scene of thousands of extremists in the streets, which managed to destroy parts of the old shopping centre in their clashes. The violence has reportedly driven around 2000 people, largely more conservative minded, to leave their homes and move to family in an effort to escape the violence. Commentators seem to believe that the federal government is deliberately not intervening, hoping that the violence caused by their own supporters will slide away. The current situation is showing one thing, the current government, while in office for just 5 months, is likely not substainable.

Grozvic: The Reichspolizei, on the orders of Reichskanzler Diana Heiner, has moved into the Reichslander Grozvic after requests from local authorities to do so. After around two days the situation in the region seems to have improved as better trained and armed Reichspolizei units moved into several districts to restore order and protect local property and civilians. The "Die Linke Verteidigung" organization, responsible for much of the violence, has called on its members to continue fighting against the current, "Fascist sympathizing" government. Die Linke Verteidigung was founded as a militant wing of the ruling DLVP. Even though the organization is not officially alligned with the party and party leadership has distanced themselves from it, the organization has repeatedly clashed with members of other political organizations, this time around primarily members of the VGP. But the sentiment in the DLV is changing, and it seems they are getting more inclined to use violence in, "rooting out fascist sympathies." The organization has already called on the killing or imprisonment of prominent VGP politicians and has organized "Fascist Pogroms", meant to find fascists and lynch them.

While initially the Reichsgovernment was hesitant in intervening, likely due to their connections with the different groups, the sentiment has now changed as the DLVP and VGP seem to become closer partners and have discussed, dissapated their differences. The VGP bill that was deemed fascist was struck down by the Reichstag, and the VGP as a gesture of good faith has voted in favour of the Civil Rights Act, a centerpiece for the DLVP. The Civil Rights Act is set to pass with a overwhelming majority, even receiving support from the archrival the DZP. But as the VGP is moderating its tone in a attempt to keep the vulnerable minority government in place the militant wings of both parties continue to clash.

In Grozvic the threat of more violence and disruptions might now be stifled by federal interference, its unclear where and if groups like the DLV will spark unrest again. The Ministries of Defense and Interior have already issued a report, stating their concern over rising radicalism. But Reichskanzler Heiner does not seem to be worried, receiving criticism for her lack of strong oppossition to the radical groups, some even accusing her of indirect support for her own gain. For now the country seems to be calm again as federal and local authorities control the tension filled situation. But whether this will remain the case is uncertain.

Dunburg: The political crisis for Dundorf continues within individual parties but also within the country. After the failure to propose a budget and tax reform bill last term the president, Jonas Meyer, disbanded parliament just two years into its term and called for new elections to "create a stable government". But the elections that followed didnt create a stable atmosphere. In fact the election results showed a further decline of the traditionally largest parties, with the DLVP losing another 12% of its support and this time the DZP also losing 10% support. While the DLVP and DZP are still the number one and two parties respectfully, the decline in their support does continue the rumours that their message is not appealing with ordinary Dundorfians enough. The Socialist Party, recently emerged, has won a astounding 17% of the vote and 78 seats, likely taking away much DLVP support. The VGP continues to grow, also receiving 17% of the vote and over 78 seats. While support for the DLVP itself continues to dwindle, the Reichsprasident Jonas Meyer has once again been reelected to his last term, stating in the election campaign that this would be his last term if elected, retiring from politics afterwards. The president was reelected with 52% of the vote amounting to more then 30 million votes, almost double the votes his party received in the parliamentary election which shows the immense support that the president enjoys. If he sits through an entire term, Meyer will have served as president for over 10 years.

But despite the popularity of the president parties in the newly elected Reichstag moved to remove one of his priviliges, taking away his right to appoint the chancellor and indirectly thus the cabinet. Parties stated that allowing any party to propose a cabinet was more democratic and would allow for better governments to be formed. The DLVP argued against it, stating it would only lead to more instability and confusion. Despite this oppossition the proposal passed with the 2/3rd needed majority. Immediately afterwards, DLVP concerns seemed to be confirmed as both the socialists and VGP proposed cabinets excluding the DLVP, instead inviting the religious oriented DZP to the table. But even these proposals seemed to go nowehere, with the parties bickering amongst eachother what positions they wanted and rejecting eachothers proposals. The DLVP took the opportunity to denounce the parties, stating that "this was what we warned for, we should have never moved the authority to the Reichstag and kept it at the presidents office".

The DLVP also, for the first time in over a decade, stated that it would be willing to sit in oppossition, citing the lack of trust in other parties as a main reason for their hesitancy in joining a cabinet. If the DLVP does indeed move into the oppossition it would make the end of Reichskanzler Diana Heiner, who has served for over 6 years as Chancellor. Though she is expected to stay on as party leader, some rumours seem to suggest she might announce her own presidential bid as Jonas Meyer retires, possibly moving her from one influential position to another. A recent poll showed that 54% of Dundorfians were satisfied with her performance in recent years, suggesting she would have majority backing if vying for the presidential office next election.

ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER

Reichskanzler Karl Saalwachter

REICHSKANZLER ON COALITION

Dunburg, August 15, 4968: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER caught up with Rechskanzler Karl Saalwachter after he met with the Dunfordische Zentrumspartei (DZP) Reichstag Delegation Leader and the Foreign and Trade and Industry Ministers at the Reichstag on DZP voting on pending legislation.

Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if his becoming Reichskanzler was part of a long standing plan or a surprise, Saalwachter responded:

Rather the latter; I was the DZP Treasurer aspiring to become Assistant Delegation Leader. The longstanding plan was really more of a hope which was to pass the Reform Government bill.

When it did pass our operating plan for joining a coalition on this occasion was to not join one led by DVLP and ask for Food and Agriculture as well as either Finance or Foreign Affairs.

When suddenly a deal was made by party leadership, as a slot holder in the DZP shadow cabinet, my name popped up.

Asked whether the disparate parties in the governing coalition could work together, Saalwachter answered:

Maybe. It is important to do so to some extent to demonstrate to ourselves and Dunfordisches Reich that democracy is a better way forward. We have little in common on many issues. We do hope that preserving liberty and democracy and reviving our economy can be a joint effort.

Then there are taxes and the budget. In my opinion, and that is all it is, a majority of the Reichstag favors reducing taxes for lower income brackets while most realize non military spending is close to right. A very strong minority favors vast increases in military spending while a much smaller minority favors a non confiscatory income tax. It would seem a deal could be made coupling military increases to income tax reform but that may be beyond our capacity as a Reichstag; we shall see.

Should arguing over some inflammatory issues become stale, there are compromises which could be made on other issues as well.

ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER

Foreign Minister August Steigerwald

FOREIGN OFFICE PLANS

Dunburg, Marcht 15, 4969: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER interviewed Foreign Minister August Steigerwald after he met with secondary students bound for university who wanted to pursue diplomatic careers. He spoke at a meeting for them prior to their receiving lunch in the Ministry Formal Dining Hall. Steigerwald emphasized learning a foreign language and having a knowledge of Terran History as very useful university pursuits in preparation.

Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER what the Coalition would do about foreign policy, Steigerwald said:

We are reviewing our treaties to determine what our existing international obligations are at the moment. We also will be contacting our neighbors and expect to continue peaceful relations with them.

Beyond getting up to steam on existing projects, we need to remember the Reichstag has two centrist parties and three socialist parties with a socialist majority. Currently what we believe we share is some respect for democratic principles and personal liberty. So we will be looking to have beneficial relations with other nations similarly situated particularly in Artania.

Why, you might very well ask. Because we are a nation trying to restore its economy and its standard of living and we have every reason to believe trading with other nations can help us accomplish this.

And we do have things to sell. We are not like some nations who have a reputation for fine wine or perfect coffee or qat tea or exotic cheese. But we do have a reputation for great serious beer we need to exploit. Not the light beer preferred by many in northern Seleya or the pub favorite pint of bitter nearer home. But we are famous for out hofbrau beer drinking accompanied by traditional music. The Ministry of Trade ad Industry has funds for a very serious Dundorfisches Bier campaign the Foreign Ministry will be working on as well.

And there is plenty more we can promote and sell. And we need to do it and we will.

ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER

DZP FOCUS

Neukirchstadt, August 6, 4969: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER was able to talk to Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (DZP) Party Secretary Hildegarde Wallenstein after she met with party operatives in their DZP Oderveld headquarters in NeuKirchstadt. Responding to ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asking what would be the focus of DZP campaigning, she responded:

Our campaign focus is very much where it has always been, the confiscatory tax system. Not only do the socialist parties want to soak the rich they are taking what little the poor and everyone in between has too. It is much worse than when our party was formed, much worse. 80% of income at the upper end and, even more destructive, 25% on 100 Dundorfian Marks. In fairness we think they meant 25% on 10,000 DUM but what they passed was 25% on 100 DUM per year.

So we are campaigning on their enormous tax increase. Some things are going well. We think there is still a majority in the Reichstag to maintain democratic principles in selecting the government as well as a majority for the moment in maintaining safeguards for individual liberty. We are guardedly optimistic that will continue.

Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if she would be a candidate for Reichsprasident again, Wallenstein answered:

No, we will try someone else next time. Quite frankly, while we seem to run quite close in the first round, in the second round there seems to be a majority socialist vote that consistently backs the DVLP candidate. So we really expect no change nor do we have a plan to deal with this situation. Our hope is to garner enough support to be able to sometimes influence legislation.

Reichskanzler Saalwachter

REICHSKANZLER ON NEXT ELECTION

Dunburg, November 15, 4970: After Rechskanzler Karl Saalwachter met with the Dunfordische Zentrumspartei (DZP) Reichstag Delegation Leader and the Foreign and Trade and Industry Ministers at the Reichstag on DZP upcoming votes on pending legislation, ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asked Saalwachter if he was running for Reichsprasident and what he expected would come from the next election. The Reichskanzler responded:

Well, I am running but what we are expecting based on our understanding of the demographics is a socialist candidate will win the runoff election again. Further, we expect three socialist parties and three centrist parties to have substantial representation in the Reichstag.

Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if the current coalition government will continue, Saalwachter answered:

No, it will not. While we are not privy to all the discussions going on, we think three coalition ideas are being given most thought. One would be a socialist coalition. Another possibility would be a group putting military expansion above all else. A third, and the one least likely, would be one where the most important feature would be protection of individual rights.

The current Ministers will in most instances serve until replaced. I will serve as Reichskanzler until then. We expect plans are being made contingent upon the showing of each party in the election next March.

ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER

REICHSPRASIDENT ON CABINET

Dunburg, May 15, 4971: Rechsprasident Karl Saalwachter discussed the outcome of the March election in an interview with ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER:

Although Dunfordische Zentrumspartei (DZP) actually gained some seats in the Reichstag, there was as we expected still a socialist majority. We did not of course expect that the socialist vote would be redistributed as dramatically as it was.

We also did not expect that I would narrowly defeat the socialist candidate in the runoff for Reichsprasident. But I did.

Nonetheless what we now expect is that shortly there will be a socialist coalition cabinet replacing the current ministers. The votes are there so we expect it soon.

Our emphasis for the moment is the Aloria – Dundorf Treaty of Friendship and Trade Agreement. We believe it will be very helpful as we seek to emerge from having a weak economy and a weak national security structure to have a good friend on our border. Whether the treaty can be ratified by the Reichstag remains to be seen.

We also are reviewing the provisions governing ACON, an organization of Artanian nations, to see how it can fit in our hopes for a growing and improving economy after a period of neglect. Steps to begin have been made.

ROYAL + NFR PHARMACY (RNFL) OF ALORIA INVESTS IN DUNLAKE EXPANSION

Gross – Rudolfskirchen, September 13, 4971: State Secretary to the Reichsprasident Heinrich Feiereisen announced today that at the Dunlake Drugstore Supply, Inc., (DDS) Headquarters in Gross - Rudolfskirchen, executives of Royal + NFR Pharnacy (RNFL), an Aloria based corporation, and DDS had reached an agreement whereby RNFL will build a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant on property owned by DDS currently housing warehouses and its headquarters in return for 45% of the shares of stock of DDS. RNFL will provide the professional and technical resources necessary to build and operate the plant.

DDS will expand its current business in Dunlake Reichsland beyond drug store non prescription pharmaceutical supplies to include the distribution of the wide variety of prescription drugs manufactured by RNFL, a major producer of pharmaceutical products.. Further, DDS will have access to markets in Aloria where RNFL does business.

Generally speaking, RNFL will benefit from its market expansion into Dunlake and DDS will benefit from its expansion into Aloria as well as being able to enter the prescription drug market with well thought of products.

Fendelhorst, Braunschweiger and Dorfmann handled the preparation and execution of the contractual documents.
