Kretschmer defeated, Marwitz is the new President. DSDP once again largest party, DSVP collapses and NDZP arises

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - If in the last elections Dundorfians always more or less chose a status quo situation, these last election results were a little bit more unpredictable. First of all, the collapse of Hugo Thielemann's DSVP, the socially-conservative Socialists have lost around 18% of popular support, losing their position as the second largest party.
Another shock was the defeat in the first round of the incumbent President, Paul Kretchmer, who did not qualify for the second round that was instead fought between DSDP co-founder Tom Krupp, and NDZP treasurer Else Marwitz. Ms. Marwitz makes history as the second female ever elected Federal President since the restoration of the Republic. She defeated Mr. Krupp by a very slim margin, less than a million of votes, with over 60 millions of votes cast.

The DSDP remained the largest party, a position held by the Social Democrats for the last 25 years now, clearing the way for Chancellor Carola Gruber to remain at the helm of the executive. Party's secretary Olaf Ackerman celebrated the result and announced that he'll be the "natural successor" of Ms. Gruber should she retire as Chancellor, given that the current cabinet is experiencing turmoil as the ministers of the DSVP, which entered a phase of internal struggle after the electoral losses, seem to be unresponsive to their duties. Another party made big gains, and that is far-left PdW which has already pursued in Bundestag their platform to return to the previous constitutional provisions: three years of term lenght and a cerimonial role for the Federal President.

High Speed Railway system to be completed in a year.
The Federal Ministry for Infrastructures has pointed out that the advancement of the project is very good, and that in one year, Dundorfians will enjoy their HSR network.

In other news:
. Dundorf and Dorvik renew their relationship with treaties
. Federal Government is looking at boosting internal nuclear energy research
. DSVP internal crisis worsens: disbandment imminent?

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - The Federal Ministry for Infrastructures has released a new update on the development of the nation's first network of High Speed Railways, started 6 years ago with a big investment into the project.
Since then, the designing and the construction of the network has encountered none to little delays, which now appear to have been fully contained, according to the Ministry: in circa a year, the network will be ready, and after the testing of it, two months later the passenger train service will start.

The "C" and "A" line have already being fully constructed and tests are ongoing as of now. In a year, also the "B " line will be completed and tests will start on the whole network.
-Official Ministerial report on the advancing of the works

Chancellor Carola Gruber said that she does not know if she will be inaugurating the network, given the ongoing DSVP's political crisis, but added "I will be surely one of the first people to ride those trains". Ms. Gruber is referencing to the Dundorfian-built "IC.E." high speed trains, now able to reach a speed up to 320 km/h, with projects and research aiming at raising the speed up to 400 km/h.

The Federal Government has bought nine of them, and plans to expand that number to fiveteen in a matter of years, the trains will be operated by the state company "Dundorfische Bahn", which operates all trains in the nation.

NDZP JOINS RATIFICATION OF BEITEYNU PARTNERSHIP TREATY

Bundestag, July 16, 5251: ODERVELD - LEUCHTFEUER asked Gunther Pflugbeil, Neue Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (NDZP) Bundestag Leader, what changed the mind of NDZP leadership on the treaty just ratified, ad he responded:

Think observers took our delay in ratifying it when we said we would read it to mean we were against it. Not criticizing the observation but we really did mean some of us were going to examine it. Which we did and it took a while.

There were five clauses whose meaning were unclear to us. The meaning is still unclear. But we determined the meaning of four of these clauses could not be harmful to the best interests of Bundesrepublik Dundorf.

A fifth one, Clause 1.02.16 took more time. It referred to “The Agency” which refers in the treaty to the Terran Remediation Agency. Why would it be operating in Bundesrepublik Dundorf when its work is remediation?

We concluded even though the clause said “the Agency” it really meant to say “the Bureau” which in the treaty refers to the Tactical Bureau of Intelligence whose work is intelligence gathering as the clause states.

Accordingly, upon concluding that neither clause 1.02.16 nor any other in the treaty in question authorized remediation in Bundesrepublik Dundorf, NDZP proceeded with joining in ratification.

The second Gruber Administration may soon come to an end, the DSVP has disbanded and with it 4 Federal Ministers have resigned. A social liberal cabinet may be ready: President Marwitz to make a decision.

In other news:
. Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomes democratic reforms in Pontesi
. Government's Act on nuclear research about to be presented
. Ministry for Trade and Industry looking to boost domestic chocolate production to start Terran-wide exports.

The Bundestag in Dunburg

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - After one year and some months of internal struggles following the poor electoral result, the Dundorf Soziale Volkspartei (DSVP) has disbanded. Party leader Hugo Thielemann said that he wasn't no longer able to keep the party united and that he will continue his political carreer but in a local level; he could be an independent candidate for Mayor of Dunburg next year.

With the disbandment of a major Government party, also four of the twelve Federal Ministers have resigned in the hands of President Marwitz, who is expected to appoint Mr. Olaf Ackerman, the DSDP secretary, at the helm of a social liberal executive composed, other than the Social Democrats, also by B46 and the PLM.

Chancellor Gruber said that she hoped the Volkspartei could solve their internal crisis to keep the Government running, and added that these will be the last months of her political carreer:
Once a new Government is formed, I will retire immediately from politics. I will resign from the Bundestag. In these last eleven years I have been humbled to serve the Dundorfian people as their Chancellor, but for me it is now time to rest.
- Bundeskanzlerin Carola Gruber

The PdW has instead proposed to call early elections, even though more than 85% of Bundestag members are still in office, a proposal that is being rejected by DSDP and B46, who would first try to form a new Government to ensure political stability.
Mr. Ackerman said on this possibility
We need stability, so for now we will go with this Government proposal which we hope President Marwitz will nominate. Although, if we fail to form a cabinet, I think the PdW snap election motion should be approved.

Federal Government to invest 1.5 B DUN in nuclear research
The Government has given the task to two Dundorfian universities to research a more efficient nuclear energy production, and areas where to build new nuclear plants.

OBEREGG, DUNLAKE - The Federal Government has announced that they will invest 1.5 B DUN coming from the budget surplus in nuclear energy research and development. Here at the Oberegg University, known for its top tier geology department, researchers are tasked with finding the ideal areas in where to build new nuclear power plants and industries that could use the nuclear materials.

The main research, although, will be conducted at the nation's capital university where researchers will study new more efficient and modern ways to produce such energy. The intent of the Government will be after that to develop new plants in Dundorf, to strenghten the domestic production of energy.

Environmentalist groups are divided on this: some view the investment for safer nuclear energy as a tool to fight the use of non-renewable energy sources, other opposes this effort as they want a focus on solar and wind-generated energy.

Our plants are working, but are outdated, and we need more of them to increase the domestic production of energy. I think this is the right investment to make now.

An IC.E. train departing from Nordenhaus.

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - In the morning of today, August 10th 5252, at 5.45 am, the first IC.E. passenger train departed in the "A" line, from the nation's capital to Nordenhaus. The train was fully booked and passengers enjoyed the ride, which connects the two cities in an hour and half, beating by 20 minutes a car ride in the highway, and by 50 minutes the Regional train ride between the two cities. The city of Oberegg, Dunlake is also serviced by this line.

Federal Chancellor Gruber and her cabinet took instead the first ride of the "C" line, from Dunburg to Karlsborn, where they hold a cabinet meeting open to the public.
Ms. Gruber said:
This is fantastic. I have seen these trains for the last two years, but now, seeing them filled with people...means that this project was the right thing to do. I am so humbled that I get to inaugurate this project after seven years.

Karlotte Lehmann, the now-Minister for Education who seven years ago proposed this project as Minister of Infrastructures:
I love that I can now travel from work at Dunburg to home in Karlsborn in only one hour! I am so grateful for Carola Gruber who entrusted me with this project seven years ago.

We have also been to see the inauguration of the longest line, the "B", from Dunburg to Rabesburg, with stops in Neukirschstadt and Rittersheim, where we registered the enthusiasm of the travelers and local authorities. Here was the regional governor of Oderveld, Mr. Gerhard Fischer (NDZP), who said:
This is truly important for the economic development of Oderveld and Dundorf. We now hope the Government will soon connect Julstoch too!

The Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports reported that 14.140 passengers were serviced in the first day of service of the nine IC.E. trains on the national network. The registered top speed is 320 km/h, with an average of 273 km/h. For reference, a total of 440 posts are available on every train.

Dundorfians can buy their ticket in the nearest serviced train station, or on-line at db.ice-ticket.dun.

Bundestag unable to form new cabinet: Dundorf headed to snap elections
The Bundestag will approve the new Government's budget and then will likely vote for a motion to dissolve itself.

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - DSDP's Olaf Ackerman confirmed to the Allgemeine Zeitung that the current cabinet proposal will probably fail after also the P.L.M., the centrist liberal party, is experiencing internal turmoil. The P.L.M. was supposed to join the DSDP and B46 in a new cabinet after the disbandment of the DSVP, which caused the collapse of the Gruber Administration.

The Bundestag is currently considering a budget proposal which aim is to balance the budget, which has already secured the votes to pass next month. After that, DSDP Floor Leader, and de-facto Leader of the Bundestag, Franziska Bach, has said that a motion to dissolve the Bundestag and call snap elections will be adopted.

New Budget bill: military spending at 10% for ten years. Combined social spending at 38%
The Government is planning on a ten-year-long project to modernize and strengthen the Dundorfian military. Big increase also for Science and Technology in order to sustain future projects.

First of all, the combined spending for healthcare, social services and education will reach an historical 38% of the budget, which are needed to maintain our country's wide welfare state.

Tom Krupp defeats Else Marwitz. DSDP and NDZP remains the two main parties, Grosz (PdW) to be Chancellor
After an historical 23 years spent in the Federal Chancellery, DSDP decided to give up the position for at least two terms, allowing Ursula Agathe Grosz to become the new Federal Chancellor. DSDP has flipped control of the Federal Presidency with Tom Krupp, who was backed by PdW and B46.

Image
Ursula Agatha Grosz, the next Federal Chancellor

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - Ursula Agathe Grosz, a liberal member of the PdW, is set to become the new Federal Chancellor of Dundorf backed by an old-fashioned coalition: her party and DSDP. The Social Democrats agreed, for at least two terms, to give up the Federal Chancellery after controlling it for 23 years, from 5229 to 5222, and allowing smaller parties - in this case the PdW - to control it. DSDP posed only one condition: for the new Chancellor to be part of PdW's liberal wing. And so it happened.

The current Chancellor, Carola Gruber, has already met with Ms. Grosz and they have discussed the current state of affairs in Dundorf: from nuclear renewal, military upgrading and the Dorvish-Dundorfian possible energy cooperation. Both have stated to have had a pleasant meeting and Grosz thanked Ms. Gruber for her 12-year-long service as Chancellor.

There was a meeting also between the new President, Tom Krupp and the former President Else Marwitz, as the first won the Presidential election defeating the latter. They've also discussed about the current State affairs and they both congratulated on each other's campaign. They both agreed that Dundorf should continue to develop a strong relationship with northern country of Dorvik.

The B46 will return to opposition, but DSDP has states that they are ready to cooperate with them at the regional level, and in the national level on social issues. The PLM, instead, who obtained a modest 5%, is still in an internal crisis and political observators fear a new party disbandment in our political landscape, although this one shouldn't be as disruptive as the DSVP's was.

On the regional level, status quo was maintained: Dunlake and Grozvic overwhelmingly voted for to re-elect DSDP Ministers-Presidents; voters in Oderveld once again entrusted the NDZP, Julstoch elected a B46 plurality and finally Chontalen re-elected the PdW regional government.
