Petroleum refinement on the rise
February 5381

Image

Sholemberg, Beiteynu - It's been more than 100 years since companies like Hadayim, Birco and the now defunct Sholemberg Sealines got in bed with petroleum producers from the northern, coldest states of Keris. Yup, there's only one notorious name that pops up: Neftkomp [Trigunia]. You have not been thinking about it, we have not been thinking about it; they have been thinking about it since the backchannel dealings of 5341, which saw a whopping 50% of maritime distribution struck by Hadayim, rumoured to have been renegotiated to 25%, probably in yet another smokey backroom.

Mind you, the deal was sealed in fate during the 40s and 50s, when international sanctions against Trigunia placed the final nail in the coffin of any economic prospects, which led many to presume that the 5340 diplomatic visit was basically a front for the groundbreaking deal to take place a year later.

The shipping industry's insatiable thirst for oil and gas dates back all the way to 5241, when it bought 3% of KNOC's preferred shares.

The signs were there since 5273, when the first maritime distribution deal was struck with Trigunia on grounds of extended investments in the Trigunian economy; a decision which led to the beginning of an unparalleled commercial boom of Kundrati's shipyards and naval manufacturing a few years later. After that point, shipping and petroleum refinement went hand in hand; the former grew so large it started tax evading in Solentia since 5284, it got caught in questionable relations in 5285, it was largely considered the one most heavily lobbying towards the 5288 historic agreements and Beiteynu's ridiculous naval expansions since then - shooting Hadayim to the top just 5 years later; oil and gas deals passed to the backstage of affairs when Trigunia entered into a crisis in 5311, which led to the collapse of Sholemberg Sealines the same year, until the manufacturing sector picked up the pace in 5320 as a result of the alliance with Eroncourt; a secondary industry that brought petroleum refinement momentum in Beiteynu back on the shipping industry's radar.

In the meantime of all of that, the silence was stirred by scandals, tax evasion and the ridiculous 5331 1.75B LOD fine that essentially left Hadayim unscathed, as it was already too late to control an industry that had became such a behemoth it's now the single most dominant pillar of global Beiteynuese commerce.

And its aggressiveness has been steadily driving the rise of petroleum refinement.

The industry's scene and status
Petroleum refinement has been a child's toy comparatively speaking to Beiteynu's dominant industries. Largely limited in the North Bank and specifically in Sholemberg, local companies closely associated with the Ministry of Trade & Industry have been producing "just enough" of a volume of petroleum products; mostly to cover the needs of manufacturing in Amshinov and, of course, the defence industry. Demand has grown in the last few decades as Luthorian computer hardware and consumer electronics companies have struck various deals with Beiteynuese software agencies, skyrocketing demand domestically and abroad.

The idea of joint investments in petroleum refinement date back to 5286, when the Beiteynuese financial industry joined up with Neftkomp and the likes of Hadayim to pump cashloads into Trigunia; the idea even took off on the Majatran end, with plans to expand the industry in Sholemberg in 5290. Both companies have been looking to leverage each other to expand into new markets, with Hadayim, Birco and Petrik Hadayot - the shipping industry's titans - looking to transfer more and more oil and gas around the world, and Neftkomp seeking to renew and expand its foothold across that same world.

A semi-nationalised industry
To ensure long-term stability both in terms of the investment's risk factors and the sustainability of the industry itself in the face of geopolitical changes, Hadayim has been lobbying the Beiteynuese Government to partake with a 49% stake over the course of the next decade. The company has been in talks with the Bureau of Keshef Management to coordinate the necessary capital from the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Olami Trade Association in order to place an ironclad contract with the private sector, with the remaining 51% of ownership of the new refineries to be split 70-30 between the shipping industry's mightiest 2 [Hadayim and Birco] and Neftkomp itself. The move has caused strife with Majatran oil producers, seeing a Trigunian company indirectly establish a foothold in Majatra.

The expansions are set to take place over the course of the decade, with the shipping industry, and Neftkomp, remaining highly involved in the dealings to ensure that these investments drive the need for both production and distribution of oil and gas globally, higher.

The Yishelem Post
A portal on economy for all citizens and businesses
June 5381

Image

Himmelshtern, Beiteynu - In continuing its digital transformation work, the Digitali Nimshal completed an upgrade of the government's portal that pertains to economic information of the Beiteynuese Government. The new section includes historic data, statistics on the country's imports and exports with other states, a robust breakdown of the 3 economic sectors (primary, secondary, tertiary) and their industries - which also include helpful information such as historic data and links to other entities, as well as a complete index of Beiteynuese companies active domestically and abroad. The task force included the Olami Trade Association, the Bureau of Keshef Management and the Medinat Department, which provided helpful information on the Yeudi diplomatic network and its intricacies.

The Head of the Digitali Nimshal stated:

The work has been painstaking but our focus remains unwavering: ease of access, ease of maintainability. Our hope is to resume our expansive work throughout the government's ecosystem in providing better access and use for citizens, businesses, organisations and diplomats, in equal measure.

It is, after all, about making sense of the life around us.

The new section can be found on the Life in Beiteynu portal.

The Yishelem Post
Facilitating a global symposium for partners and allies
November 5381

Image

Yishelem, Beiteynu - Curiously dubbed the SOS, the Seetouf Olami Symposium (Worldwide Cooperation) is the Medinat Department's most recent effort in steering Beiteynuese foreign affairs towards greater transparency and collaboration with the country's partners and allies; the move comes both as part of the Haviv Policy of "facilitation" and the recent "shenanigans" of the Terran Remediation Agency with Cildania and Vanuku. To further ensure the symposium's neutral demeanour, Beiteynu's representation to the conference will be handled directly by the Nisrad, the organisation responsible for managing our country's representation to intergovernmental organisations (ex. World Congress and MSCO) outside the considerable influence of the Medinat Department itself.

Katerina Sheket of the Medinat Department commented the following yesterday afternoon:

We have quite a few programs currently underway.

-

The Digitali Nimshal has undertaken digital transformation for Lourenne and Dundorf; while a painstaking work, the foundations are already there to help administer a good dose of digital governance for both. Certainly, their rich histories will contribute greatly to the understanding of data clusters.

On Artania, we've reached out to officials in the Artanian Union to inquire on any potential digital transformation requirements, as well. It's too early to say anything with certainty, but we will rise up to the need, if we're called.

In a similar manner, we will attempt to map out any pathways in transferring the Digitali Nimshal's "The Terran Times" network to the jurisdiction and operational mandate of the World Congress in ensuring that all voices are heard across the globe.

On Majatra, we've began working with Zardugal towards their ascension in the region to ensure that the Zardic enjoy the merits of the foundations we've built together as a continent; the MSCO notwithstanding. Our work now lies ahead on the MEA with Deltaria.

On Seleya, it remains to be seen as talks with both Kalistan and Tukarali are still underway.

By leveraging the Equifund, it is our hope that we have helped facilitate and enable the defence industries of both Kundrati and Dankuk to rise to new heights; we will continue to pursue further areas of collaboration with Gongmangdo, should they wish to ascertain more needs on the table.

In a similar tone, we will be working with Fort William directly to broker some necessary deals with the shipping industry, to help facilitate the Commonwealth's greater expansion in trade and oil and gas distribution, under the leadership of the Luthorian Government.

Finally, in recently acquiring the capability to launch and maintain satellite networks, we'll be reaching out to our close partners in Kasaema, Fort William, Eroncourt and Gongmangdo on whether they would like to establish their own operations in the Desert Bank, in conjunction with the Lavian.

-

Our goal with the SOS is to provide a transparent platform for all our partners and allies, to bring their needs and goals to the forefront of Beiteynuese influence across Terra. Simply put, it's a way for Beiteynu to ask "how can we help?" with no ulterior agendas involved and certainly no impositions.

At present, Yishelem's network of partners and allies consists of Istalia, Kundrati, Pontesi, Lourenne, Luthori, Zardugal, Dundorf, Selucia, Kafuristan, Dankuk and Deltaria. The Medinat Department has reportedly refrained from including member states of the MSCO directly - considering its mandate as a mutual defence pact - to avoid imposing further influence upon an organisation that Beiteynu has strived to disperse leadership across all member states.

The Seetouf Olami Symposium maintains a website as part of the government's portal, here, should diplomats wish to learn more.

Aristocrat-Goldbloom Administration sweeps public appointments
January 5382

Image

Yishelem, Beiteynu - For the first time in almost 200 years, the Terran Remediation Agency sees itself diminished in favour of Agafim, with the Olami Trade Association to similarly align itself closer with the Ministry of Trade & Industry and the Bureau of Keshef Management of the Ministry of Finance. High-ranking members of government have been speculating that the Olami Menayot (Stock Market) is expected to undertake a robust project with the Digitali Nimshal in upgrading the government's portal on the index of companies of Beiteynuese origin, active domestically and abroad.

The Nisrad will also see a change of guard in Beiteynu's representation to the MSCO, including a new position for the recently introduced Seetouf Olami Symposium (SOS), as the Medinat Department begins to hand off the mantle of leadership to the Nisrad.

The 5382 appointments are expected to pass without any friction in the Knesset later this year.

Former MOFA Wandsworth to represent Beiteynu at MSCO
The Aristocrat-Goldbloom Administration sweeped public appointments and reorganized our Government's structure.
August 1, 5382

in other news:
- Beiteynuese lament dissatisfaction with current political system as turnout reached all-time low.
- Nathaniel Aristocrat-Goldbloom has 'partially rekindled' relationship with Aristocrat family, anonymous sources says.

YISHELEM, ENDILD - Today the newest terms for Directors, Heads and Chiefs across Beiteynu's agencies have commenced, with some new faces and some old faces. For example, Katherine Sheket will continue to lead the Medinat Department, just like Aviah Shmerkin will be confirmed to lead the Beiteynuese Police, after her law enforcement agency successfully resolved the tricky Noah Kadiyot's murder case. On the other hand, Sohnout Hashaet will change leadership: it will fall under the HoG, and the internal security agency Agafim has got a new Head.

Also Beiteynu's international representation has been updated, Beiteynu in the MSCO will now be represented by the former MOFA, Reuhen Wandsworth, an experienced person which is believed to continue the work of his predecessor at the MSCC.

Magashalom
Strengthening ties with the Canrillaise
May 5384

- Medinat Department confirms talks with Gongmangdo have concluded, 100-year-old partnership set to be upgraded to a full blown military alliance
- Diplomatic delegation set to travel to Tukarali to complete 2 decades of negotiations on an extended partnership agreement in central Seleya
- Kohav begins preparations for the formation of the Nefesh (Soul) Squadron in Alduria under the structure of the Zaar Fleets and Aldurian command
- Baguette or croissant; the dilemma haunts Yeudis seeking to dip the exquisite Canrillaise bakery into chocolate hummus

Image

Yishelem, Beiteynu - The connection between Yeudis and the Canrillaise has witnessed a remarkable rekindling this century in swiftly becoming one of the most important relations for Yishelem, second only to the long-term partnership with Kasaema. Everything began in 5301, when Yeudis and the Canrillaise met officially with a shared vision; later on in 5317, Eroncourt and Yishelem formed one of the most pivotal alliances our world has seen in recent centuries.

Alduria - Lourenne's 5383 announcement in establishing military operations in Alduria, coupled with the country's recent remarkable efforts in "getting back on its feet" quickly led to trilateral talks in seizing a massive geopolitical opportunity initiated by Eroncourt. The Medinat Department's interest was immediately peaked, having set its sights on the Sea of Lost Souls (the body of water between southwest Seleya and southeast Majatra) together with Istalia long ago in securing yet another pivotal passage of global maritime trade. As such, Beiteynu's existing military presence in Istalia will be coupled with an extension of the Zaar Fleets together with Lourenne and Alduria, on an allied commitment to regional deterrents and naval coverage.

Alduria marks the first military alliance in Seleya; and one of the biggest milestones in Beiteynuese foreign affairs, especially considering how Yishelem has grappled for almost 2 centuries with Likatonia, Valruzia, Tukarali, Aldegar and Rildanor.

Kanjor - "Discussions are currently underway", Katerina Sheket stated on Saturday, "and I have personally been in contact with Monique LaStrange of the Foreign Office from the Republic of Kanjor to ensure the highest priority for the State of Beiteynu. While we're not entirely predisposed towards a military alliance and may tone down negotiations to a partnership level instead should Kanjor wish to do so, we are extremely interested in establishing a long-term and stable relationship with south Seleya; Kanjor has been one of the most notable examples of leadership in the region and with great potential at it."

Katerina Sheket continued to reaffirm how Kanjor can be "a perfect partner" for Yishelem, especially considering its relations with fellow Canrillaise states.

Rildanor - The calm and steady demeanour emanating from Eroncourt has softened even the most adamant hardliners against Rildanor in recent decades. Cited as "Canrillaise eloquence", Lourenne's particular brand of diplomacy has managed to subtly diminish Yishelem's hatred to a point where the Medinat Department has began considering issuing new guidelines for Yeudis in south Seleya, removing Rildanor from the Reshimat Hara after 100 years of no ties. Katerina Sheket did however note that "Yishelem does not forget that easily" when asked about a potential rekindling of relations in the future.

The Yishelem Post
Doubling down on allied naval coverage
July 5384

Image
Orange is allied, green is Lourenne (purple is just Beiteynu)

Himmelshtern, Beiteynu - The trilateral military alliance between Alduria, Beiteynu and Lourenne, largely instigated by Eroncourt in its pursuit of Seleyan stability and prosperity especially in the southern regions, has a 4th player; Istalia. Bound by the intricacies of geopolitics and diplomacy, 4 states now whimsically carry the torch in one of Terra's most important maritime passages: the Sea of Lost Souls that lies between Alduria and Istalia; between southwest Seleya and southeast Majatra. Once known as the Yamin (South) Fleet, recently restructured under the concept of Zaar Fleets - a designation for naval forces stationed abroad but hosted and under the joint command of Yishelem's allies - Beiteynu has maintained a naval presence in the region since the 5288 ratification of the Beiteynuese - Istalian Alliance Agreement, one of the country's first military partnerships with other states.

The star of the show will be Lourenne's carrier strike group stationed in Alduria. As part of the agreement, the Kohav and the Beiteynuese Naval Command will form the Nefesh (Soul) Squadron to be stationed on Lourennais and Aldurian naval bases, with a mandate to amplify Aldurian naval capabilities and enhance the operational command of Lourenne's own CSG, which is naturally set to lead the tone in the region.

The Nefesh Squadron will work closely with the BI300 Squadron stationed in Istalia and Istalian naval command in coordinating joint patrol operations in the Sea of Lost Souls; facilitating military cooperation between 4 different states.

To fulfil its role in bridging 3 pillars (Aldurian command, Lourennais leadership and Istalian operations), the Nefesh Squadron will be consisted of 1 defensive wing composed of 4 Sa'ar 6 class corvettes and 1 attacking wing of 2 Horizon class destroyers and 1 Leygues class destroyer, with 2 Kotor class frigates acting as "connectors" between the 2 wings depending on the requirements of either Aldurian or Lourennais command. Naturally, the attacking wing will be the one to accompany the Lourennais CSG alongside any blue-water operations to be conducted by the Aldurian navy, while the 4 corvettes will take the lead in coastal defence and border patrol, especially in joint operations with Alduria towards increasing the capabilities of the country's naval command and structure.

As such, the Zaar Fleets will count a total of 3 deployments and 20 warships, with the Nefesh Squadron to fall under joint Aldurian-Lourennais command.

The Horizon class BEINS Nefesh, once assembled, is set to act as the squadron's capital ship.

The Yishelem Post
Medinat Department clears Rildanor and Valruzia from the Reshimat Hara
July 5384

Image
Orange is shitlist, green friendly, purple extended relations and blue allies

Yishelem, Beiteynu - Natural pressure stemming from the horizontal ties with the Canrillaise from across 3 states and the shipping industry's heavy lobbying in regards to the disrupted relations in central Seleya, has apparently led to the Medinat Department lifting its hostile veil with Valruzia and Rildanor. While the latter may seem shocking, high ranking officials cited how Katerina Sheket heavily leads the mantle on a mandate of "toning down" points of friction across the board; Yishelem's refreshed policies of minimum intervention and maximum facilitation have set the country center stage as trying to be... a "second".

The classic oxymoron on most, if not all, cases of our country's position in foreign affairs as it seeks to ascertain complex ties to protect Yeudis across Terra.

All in all, Majatra, northwest Dovani and central Artania represent Beiteynu's mutual defence pact deterrents, while Seleya has become in recent decades the hotspot of a renewed momentum in Beiteynuese commerce; excluding, that is, the curious relationship with Trigunia and Keris. Yishelem, almost 200 years since Baruch Lea Tzafrir first realigned our country to new diplomatic standards, now counts 12 allies under a complex web of mutual defence pacts and 10 additional partners (+1 on Trigunia), composing its core network with a total of 23 states across 4 continents (+16 friendlies in 2 more marking more than 50% of Terra).

Complexity, it seems, does not come without its self-sustaining risks.
