Dundorfian 5489 Election - Reallignment? In this election, the incumbent Jacqueline Lunacek was seeking a 3rd Presidential term, a feat no President has achieved in over a century, leading many to believe in the existence of a curse. Ms Lunacek made it, but her party right-leaning TR party didn't fare well in the parliamentary election. But the new-commer centre-right Volksdemokratie Dundorfs (VDD) managed to obtain quite a historic result for a brand new party which has existed for only a year. VDD managed to obtain around 16% of the seats, emerging in the first place in 3 out of 5 states, which helped them to lead 2 states. The biggest was the liberal alliance of LDU, followed by the social-democratic DSDP, which emerged as the largest single party. Just below them, was socialist VA, and liberal-conservative VDD. Another surprise was the strong showing of the new centrist party PIRATEN which after half a year of existence obtained more than 10% of the seats. The biggest losers were traditional centre-right parties, like TR, but the biggest was Hosian-democratic NDZP which fell to just 5%, as it lost three-quarters of its voters. There are negotiations regarding the future cabinet and it seems that it will be a broad coalition government between LDU-DSDP-VDD. It remains to be seen whether FLP's Langer will continue to serve as the Chancellor.
Volksdemokratie Dundorfs have released a state-wide poster, after the surprisingly strong electoral showing, thanking all of the voters.
