Gaduridos at a Crossroads: The Political Fragmentation and Its Impact on Governance
A deep dive into the rising political divisions in Gaduridos and what they mean for the nation's future.

Protestors take to the streets demanding early elections if the government can't bring "stability" to the political climate

The faltering of the nation's leading political party, Frente Nacional, has sent the nation into an uproar as the party's Representatives have abandoned their posts in the National Congress, leaving the nation under the watch of President Teresa Abarquero, Prime Minister Leone Tirabassi and the Cabinet in charge of governing the nation. This outbreak has led to a vacuum in the political establishment.

President Abarquero has found it hard, if not, impossible to fill the gridlock and bring stability to the political climate. This has led to the rise of political activism and public protests calling for early elections if the government can't find any stability. Only time will tell who will fill the political vacuum. Many people have come out and attempt to, however many have failed.

Where in the World Did You Come From? New Party Takes Over Nation
Birthed from nothing into the largest party in the nation, the PLN takes over the country as the leading party.
October 5529

Image
Newly-elected President Arnoldo Bertolini giving a speech at his victory party.

It was only a couple of years when word broke out that political instability fell over Gaduridos. People were protesting. Many called for early elections that never came. Others could for the resignation of the president that never happened. The people were stuck in a stagnate cycle for years until the recent election. Birthed from nothing, the Partido de la Libertad Nacional (PLN) gave rise to a new wave of freedom fighters, drawing their core support from young voters and won every election from national to local.

Newly-elected President Arnoldo Bertolini, age 36, one of the nation's youngest elected leaders in many years, lived in Ciudad de Cancon, Cancon with his wife, Divina Bertolini, where he owned a small manufacturing company with only 10 employees. He engaged in politics in his early 30's when he tried to run for office under the title of the former ruling party, but failed miserably. Bertolini then formed his own party in 5527 that no one really took seriously. Giving a few speeches here and there, the PLN was nothing more than a small social group hoping make headwaves. However, the election in October 5529 changed everything for Bertonlini and the PLN.

With the help of 25 party members, PLN members traveled to every state ran a candidate for every race, from local races to national races. Bertolini, the party's founder put his name on the ballot for president. Spending a little over 150,000 GAD and without a platform and strong messaging, the PLN thought there plan would fail to conjure any kind of success, however, to their surprise, their run garnered more than enough attention as they won every race.

Now-President Arnoldo Bertolini will lead the nation for the next few years. Many are left wondering his goals and what he plans to do to bring stability back to the nation. Others have no hope for the president or the PLN as only 16% of the population turned out to vote. Only time will tell what President Bertolini and the PLN are capable of. For now, the President is set to announce his cabinet soon and release his plan for the nation.

Pan-Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos reforms; Will they be able to end the Gaduri Malaise?

40 years ago, Gaduridos had a vibrant democracy, and it contained many unique parties. Amongst these was the Pan-Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos. Bring a major party in Gaduri politics, it presented itself as a moderate centre left progressive party, for the youth, students, leftists and Pan-Seleyans. The PSSG would meet it's end during the take over by the far-right National Front. Now, 40 years later, the PSSG has been restored. Being restored by María Camila Sánchez, the PSSG will now be able to legally participate in the 5557 elections. While the extensive party infrastructure is largely gone due to the amount of time that has passed, the PSSG has been quick to gain support and members amongst the youth and students, two key groups that the PSSG has always attracted.

As the Gaduri Malaise continues on, the PSSG has had a nostalgic bump. Many older Gaduri remember the good times the Sun Flower Coalition heralded and the prosperity the nation had. With a damaged economy, questionable neutrality, broken bloated budget, and the spectre of the far-right always haunting Gaduridos, many simply want sanity and normality restored to Gaduridos. As Seleya turns into a battle ground for influence with Kalistan making moves, the Canrillaise Empire crumbling and Luthori making grounds, these turbulent times have been contrasted to the times when the PSSG was in government, and most Gaduri find themselves wanting that stability and prosperity. While there are concerns that the PSSG is a relic of the past and cannot handle modern problems, there are others hopeful that the nation can heal, repair and thrive.

Regardless, the formation of the PSSG has presented some form of hope to many Gaduri who want the Malaise over, and want prosperity at home. While many questions still remain, the reformation of the PSSG is sure to be of some comfort to Gaduri citizens across the country. Whether the nostalgia for the past will carry the party to being elected is yet to be seen, and there always remains the chance for another far-right party to sway the masses and make the Malaise worse. Whether the PSSG can herald a new age of Gaduri Prosperity, Neutrality and Democracy is unknown, but it's sure to see the Gaduri Malaise improve even just a little bit.

María Camila Sánchez goes on the campaign trail; Campaigns on fighting the Gaduri Malaise, restoring neutrality and reviving the economy.

As the elections 5557 elections are months away, the PSSG has taken initiative and has gone on the campaign trail, with the presidential nominee being María Camila Sánchez. MCS was nominated by the PSSG as a responsible centrist within the party. While Garcian Socialists would rather see a candidate more similar to Rosalana Garcia, there has been relative unity in the MCS campaign. As such, MCS has focused on campaigning instead of uniting an already relatively united party. Whether it be on the mainland or in Vintalli and Marlingantos, she has focused her campaign on hope, optimism and the resilience of the Gaduri. Her campaign has focused extensively on fighting the Gaduri Malaise, which continues to affect the nation heavily, restoring the nations neutrality, which kept it safe for decades and reviving the Gaduri economy.

As nostalgic voters express support for the PSSG and the youth support the PSSG, optics for the PSSG are high. The possibility of a PSSG victory in the election is rather high, but anything can happen when the election occurs. Irregardless of that, let's review the plan MCS has put forward to voters. Her plans to end the Gaduri Malaise can be put into three groups. Democracy, neutrality, and the economy. Starting off with democracy. Many Gaduri remember when the far-right damaged Gaduri Democracy immensely, dealing a major blow to the nations multi-party democracy. MCS has focused on removing the spectre of the far right from Gaduri politics, restore normality and restore confidence in Gaduri democracy, and the government.

For the second point, neutrality. Gaduridos has found it's recent history defined by neutrality, disarmament and major trade. All of this was disrupted with the election of what amounted to fascists. MCS has focused on restoring Gaduri Neutrality, holding a referendum on the status of defense, and ultimately reinstating a stable Gaduridos that nations can comfortably work with. The third point also ties into this. The economy.CS has campaigned on restoring major international trade, restoring major oil exports, modernizing infrastructure, building new homes and getting jobs rolled out for Gaduri across the country.

With only a few months to sway voters, there is a high sense of optimism for the PSSG. While independents are running to counter the PSSG, most are expecting a PSSG victory. Irregardless, many Gaduri are confident that the Malaise can come to an end, and Gaduridos can recover from it.

Grand Duke Mark Ananto-Orleans returns to Gaduridos
Purchase of ₭6.2 Million Villa signals new interest in Republic

Ciudad de Gaduri, Gaduridos
November 20, 5557

Image
Grand Duke of Kalistan, Lord Mark Ananto-Orleans lands in Gaduri International this week

His Highness, Lord Mark Ananto-Orleans, cousin of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Fredrick II Ananto and Grand Duke of Kalistan, took possession of a new villa on the coast just outside of Ciudad de Gaduri, Marlingantos, Gaduridos this week, signaling a return of interest in the Central Seleyan republic. Following the ouster of the fascists, Ananto's purchase acknowledges that fact of Gaduri political stabilization, and aims at providing a conduit for Kalistani Investment to begin flowing once more to the Central Anantonese Ocean. The home and adjoining 25 acres of beachfront property, which costs Ananto ₭6.2 Million, is a far cry from the 400 acre estate that the Grand Duke grew up on which had been owned by the Grand Duke's Father, Prince Victor Ananto-Martin.

It is known that the Grand Duke, who was raised in Gaduridos and then lived there most of his adult life, has treated this nearly decade-long sojourn as an exile of sorts, and has always sought to return to Gaduridos to pick up where he left off. "Espero trabajar para acercar Kalistan y Gaduridos, diplomática, cultural y económicamente."

The Grand Duke and Duchess will retain all titles and rights and duties in Kalistan, and will retain Kalistani Citizenship while living abroad. Additionally, The Grand Duke will maintain his family's estate in Sulari, and will keep his 70 person staff in Kalistan's Second City employed. He will be expected to respond to Imperial Summons' still and will be required at all peer functions, but except for special events, there are no official barriers to him living and working outside the Empire.

"His Imperial Majesty considers the Crown Lands to still technically be a part of Kalistan, so he has given the Grand Duke his Blessing," said Crown watcher Janelle Montgomery. "And in this age of instantaneous telecommunications, getting the Grand Duke on the phone even if he is on the other side of the planet is no challenge. Living in Gaduri City, the Grand Duke will be closer to Sulari than he would if he lived in Dulnerstaad, Eveari or Kaliburg, so it isn't really an issue." Montgomery also said that having Ananto in Gaduridos is also a good way to have an informal channel to the Gaduri Government. "Ananto's word is essentially the word of the Empire in Gaduridos. If there is something Gaduridos needs or would like, and they speak with the Grand Duke, they can be sure to have the ear of the Emperor. This offers them a great advantage that even Kalistan's closest friends do not have. And Mark Ananto sits on top of a veritable mountain of money due to his successful and conservative management of the prersonal accounts of House Ananto. A friendly Gaduridos can assure a friendly Kalistani investment community."

Grand Duke Mark Ananto-Orleans, Countess Margaret Alvarez-Ananto, and their three children have already moved into the Cottage as they renovate the Main House. The grounds have a small wooded area with a trail system for hiking or running, a brook that flows into the sea, a tennis court, large fields of wild flowers and cliffs that look north over the Central Anantonese Ocean. The Grand Duke said he intends to build a riding stable, a rifle range and a bocce court on the grounds as well. Renovations are expected to be complete in March, at which time the family will occupy the main house. The Grand Duke has named the estate Mer Verde.

MCS elected alongside PSSG supermajority!; MCS pledges to end the Gaduri Malaise.

The elections have concluded and after millions of ballots being counted, the results have come in; the winner is the PSSG. Of course, this was expected. No major opposition, combined with hope and nostalgia and the chances for anyone else winning were slim. Irregardless as the Social Democratic giant starts to pick itself up, MCS is now President of Gaduridos, and has already set forth on improving the economy and ending the Malaise. Her inauguration speech (which can be seen below) has focused on optimism and the strength of Gaduri during crises. As such, there is genuine hope amongst the populace about the Malaise coming to an end. However, it all depends how these first few months go, and whether the PSSG can keep this high wave of optimism and hope throughout the term. As voter turnout remained low however, it's clear much work needs to be done on improving the relations between the people and the government.

Below is the inauguration speech of MCS;
Brothers and Sisters, today is the beginning of a new era for Gaduridos. I understand that many of you are concerned with one thing only. Ending the Malaise that affects our nation. Some of you view it as something inescapable. But I view it was a challenge. Not to myself or my administration, but to the Gaduri people. A testament to our resolve and will. I promise you this, we will end the Malaise. We have overcome tyranny, fascism, and oppression. We will overcome this, together. We will end the Malaise, we will restore those golden days from 40 years ago. We will return to those days of prosperity and plenty, and go beyond that. Unemployment, poverty and squalor will be a nightmare of the past. Together, we the people will forge a brighter dawn for Gaduridos.

While there is a sense of cautious optimism among many Gaduri, it seems there may be a genuine chance at an economic recovery and moving the nation away from the Malaise. It remains to be seen if the Malaise can be ended, but in the coming months, what's guaranteed is at least slight improvements, if no major changes. As various topics and reforms come about in the National Congress, ranging from internal policy to foreign policy, the PSSG has set out on restoring a truly harmonious, democratic, and prosperous Gaduridos. The coming months will determine whether MCS can put a dent in the Malaise or worsen it. However, what's sure is that fixing the economy has to be the first step for the MCS Presidency.

PeGad restores operations amidst (basic) government confidence; Gaduri Oil to be on the Seleyan Market once again.

Image

Petróleos Gadurenes, often known as PeGad has long been a major giant in the Gaduri economy. Ever since political instability wracked the nation, PeGad was forced to scale back major oil drilling operations. However, now that some semblance of political stability has returned to Gaduridos, and with a cooperative government looking to begin economic revival efforts, PeGad has begun restoring drilling operations in the Anantonese Ocean, where jobs and economic development can begin rolling out in Gaduridos. As the state owned company finds itself kicking back into life, this is arguably one of the biggest ways to restore the Gaduri economy into anything past struggling. High quality jobs, and domestic oil production not only benefit the nations population, but it will make Gaduridos return to international relevance. Not only will this boost the economy, but it will allow Gaduridos to return to being a major producer of petroleum and oil, at least for Seleya at the moment.

As this is sure to be a defining moment of the MCS Presidency, the restoration of PeGad will be the first major step in restoring the economy and improving the nations trade volume, allowing for refined petroleum to be exported and traded with to other Seleyan nations, and with the help of international organizations such as Vamaj, even to other continents. Irregardless the establishment of quality jobs are sure to be major improvement compared to unemployment for many Gaduri, and the first step to restoring trust and confidence in both the economy and the government. If the government can provide jobs and help Gaduri keep food on the table, then surely it's a sign of competence. However, PeGad can be compared to a snowball. It needs time for major effects to start kicking in, and while it will provide immediate benefits, these won't be enough to make a big difference. As such, it's anticipated that that the nation will start to see major benefits within the mid 60s from PeGad. However, on the meantime, Gaduri can expect high quality and good paying jobs available, see basic government competence, and foreign governments can see Gaduridos is ready to talk business and offer oil to the Seleyan Market.
Image
As this is the first step to restoring what was once a major economy, more will certainly have to be done in reviving the economy. But allowing for trade volume to be restored, and providing employment opportunities will certainly have benefits. As trading can now be restored, PeGad will be able to return to the days of old prosperity, and Gaduridos can emerge from the Malaise as a sensible cooperative business partner for any nation. Irregardless as the nation puts to use it's oil tankers from the past (alongside potential tankers from Kalistan), this will be one of many steps in reviving the Gaduri economy, and restoring what was lost.
