Zabalbeascoa's Rise to PowerMay, 4828Following the election in February, Urizar Zabalbeascoa was elected Chair of the Supreme Council of Workers. Due to his rapid rise in power, the KNN Team thought it would be important for many in our nation to learn who exactly is the man who leads us.
Urizar Zabalbeascoa was born in the Kasaema slums in 4765 to a very poor family. Thanks to Kundrati's free education, he was able to begin studying International Relations at the University of Galemia. During his first year there, the Kundrati War of Secession broke out.
He, like many others, joined the Union's army. He fought in the 27th Infantry Division. After training, he was appointed Sergeant.
He first saw combat in the First Battle of Galemia. There he and the rest of his Platoon remained under siege for 2 weeks, trapped in a small office building. Of the 34 men in his platoon, only 7 made it out. One of the dead was his Captain. Following his death, he was appointed Captain. He commanded his company through Operation Sea Lion, where he was severely injured. He returns to active duty shortly after the creation of the Kingdom of Kundrati as a Lieutenant Colonel, commanding the 17th Batallion of Infantry. He led his troops through the Second Battle of Pilgon and Operation Seamoth. He was praised for his leading skills, especially following Operation Seamoth. This led to his promotion to Brigadier, in charge of the 22nd Infantry Brigade. Following Bloody November, his division was one of the responsible for stopping the Integralist counterattack. He participated in the planning of Operation Golden Eagle, and he was responsible for distracting the IRK's attention away from the incoming attack. After the success in the operation, he was promoted to Major-General. He was in charge of the 27th Infantry Division, and he was responsible for attacking the easternmost parts of the Integralist trench system. His command led to the Union breaking through the Integralist lines earlier than expected. When the Treaty of Riverford was signed, he was promoted to Lieutenant-General, commanding the IX Corps.
After the war, he gave up his career in International Relation and continued to serve in the army. He was awarded several medals during his time as a soldier, most notably the Silver Eagle for his actions in the First Battle of Galemia, and the Gold Cross for his outstanding command during Operation Redemption, as well as many others. He worked closely with Quintinus Vespacius.
Between 4790 and 4815 he rose through the ranks in the military, making General in 4803. In this time, he also worked as an advisor for the KMW and his help was fundamental in the development of the Arjun tank.
In 4815, he was appointed Undersecretary of Defense by Enio Indacoa, a man he hated for his weakness. Indacoa had too been a General in the civil war, and his incompetence was one of the key factors for the tragedy of Bloody November. Zabalbeascoa continued his worked with KMW and helped with the development of the CALA 30. Following Neppos's resignation, he was appointed Secretary of Defense.
In 4822, he challenged Indacoa to a duel. Indacoa's extravagant choice of weapon, the longsword, was not a problem for Zabalbeascoa, as he quickly defeated Indacoa. Following the duel, he was appointed Praetor. He was a big advocate for joining the Supreme Council and the Cabinet. After the Senate finally allowed this to happen, Verona promised Zabalbeascoa that he would be the next Chairperson of the Council. This was fulfilled in February when he won the election by a landslide, with 99.89% of the popular vote.
When he was sworn in he promised that he would do his best to lead Kundrati to a better place and that by the end of his mandate, Kundrati would be as strong as it was in the times of Vespacius.
