New Budget/High Taxes

The Secretary of Finance, Jatsu Elexpe, announced today a new budget and new taxes. Following Zabalbeascoa's militaristic approach, the military budget was raised from 1,000,000,000 KUN to 2,000,000,000,000 KUN. Elexpe said that it was a mistake to have such a low budget, especially with the carrier construction underway. The agricultural budget was dramatically decreased to help give the military a larger budget. We also got an increase in taxes. The lowest bracket, that used to be of 20%, increased an extreme amount, to 30%. Many people protested, but it is the belief of the KNN team that this change is for the better. Especially given the fact that raising the taxes has increased the national budget by over 300,000,000,000 KUN.

Minister of the Nation's Supreme Court of Justice Dies at 89
June, 4830

This morning, one of the Ministers of the Nation's Supreme Court of Justice died. It was Minister Stephanus Speratus, an advocate for peace and worker's rights. He pushed forward much legislation that ensured workers had proper support and he was one of the greatest advocates for the creation of the ISSSW. From what we know, last year's heatwave greatly deteriorated his health. This meant that went he suffered a heart attack, his body was extremely weak and could not survive the surgery.

Although the position of Minister is not a life long position and every new Supreme Council elects their new Ministers, out of respect to them, they tend to select the ones that are already sitting. The main candidate to assume Speratus's position is Judge Simon Botond. Judge Botond is the son of an Endralonian family who came to Kundrati and is a close friend with Zabalbeascoa. He has pushed for further military reform and for a higher degree of state authority. Many fear that his vote will be decisive in many instances and that the vote might not be supporting the welfare of the people, but of Zabalbeascoa and the government.

New KMW Fighter Jet. The F4 Phantom
November, 4830

Today, a new fighter jet was released by the weapons manufacturer KMW. It consists of the F4 Phantom. The jet was first announced in 4823, alongside the Invincible class carrier. Although the carrier is still under construction, the F4 completed development in September. With the announcement, 20 of these brand new fighters were given to the Kundrati Air Force (KAF). The approximate cost of each of these fighters is of $3 million KUN and it is expected that they will bring many good things to our nation. First of all, it will modernise the KAF, as it has been using outdated aircraft for over 40 years now. Furthermore, it is expected that the sale of the jets will bring a lot of money to our nation.

With the release of the F4, we received some news on the state of the construction of the Invincible class carrier. It is expected that it will be finished by 4834, at the latest. KMW officials say that their goal is to finish the carrier in under a decade since announced. KNNN will continue to info on the state of the carrier.

100th Anniversary of the creation of the Factionis Socialisticae Opificem

Today marks the 100th anniversary since the creation of the Factionis Socialisticae Opificem in Kundrati. It was born from the dream of Nettuna Libitina, who thought that the Union for a Popular Movement was too moderate and not radical enough. She came with an idea for a party, by the people and for the people. Although she died before she could see the then Kundrati Union turn into the Socialist Republic that it is today.

The FSO has led Kundrati through many crises. The Civil War and the recovery from it were some of the toughest tests in Kundrati's history and the FSO charged through them. With the FSO we also saw the strengthening of international relations with many nations in Terra. We also saw the creation of the KMW, the KSS and the ISSSW. These 3 have improved the life of All Kundrati citizens 10-fold, either by helping them directly or helping the country.

Representatives from Liore, Dankuk, Endralon and Davostan attended the celebrations. One of the most remarkable there were Ducissa Viktoria I Reinhardt.

Urizar Zabalbeascoa gave a long speech, thanking all of the previous Chairs of the FSO for their service. He then promised to lead Kundrati and he party to an even brighter future.
He ended his speech by giving a toast "For another 100 glorious years!".

Simon Botond's first case, and it's a big one

Ever since Simon Botond was appointed Minister in the Nation's Supreme Court of Justice in January 4831, he had not had any cases that required him. The past week he had his first one, and it was one of the most important of the past century. In 4808, Tibalt Garoby was convicted after being found guilty of corruption during his time as Manager of the KMW. During the past years, Garoby had been asking the Supreme Court of Justice for an appeal. Last week the case was heard in the tribunals. Ministers who thought that the appeal was valid thought that he had already served 22 years in prison and that he had payed for his crimes. Those against said that what he did goes totally against the principles of the Socialist Republic. Botond said that not only had Garoby paid for his crimes, but that what he had done was with the best interests of the Republic in mind. Following a 7-6 vote, Garoby was released.

A controversial move that was nevertheless supported by Chariperson Zabalbeascoa. "I understand that Garoby's actions were wrong, but he wanted to help the nation. I am glad that he is now a free man, and that Botond helped this happen".

The vote was not received as well by the rest of the population, who went out to the streets to protest against the release. Will this be the first of many controversial changes that Botond will bring?

Carrier Complete!

On the first day of the month, it was announced that the Invincible-class light aircraft carrier was completed, and will begin operating. The carrier was announced a decade ago and has now been released. With the new carrier, 8 new F4 Phantom fighters will also be released.
The carrier's official name is now released and it will be known as the KS Vespacius, honouring the late Consul Quintinus Vespacius. The Vespacius will not be the first of its kind, and it has already been announced that another carrier will be built.

Liore arms deal complete
June 4834

Back in 4827, Kundrati and the KMW signed with the nation of Liore an arms deal. Liore purchased 250 Arjun tanks from KMW. 125 were delivered instantly. The rest were delivered periodically. Today, a shipment of 10 tanks meant that all of the purchased tanks had been shipped to Liore. The deal brought Kundrati much needed money, which was primarily used for the construction of the KS Vespacius. Liore used the tanks to field many more armoured divisions. The deal will only be the first of many to come.

KMW's New Armored Vehicle; The Infanteria Blindatuen Borroka Ibilgailua (IBBI)

KMW officials announced today the release of the Infanteria Blindatuen Borroka Ibilgailua or IBBI (OOC: Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the french VBCI). The armoured vehicle had been in development since well before the KS Vespacius was built, but was put to a halt due to the construction of said carrier and the F4 Phantom. It is armed with machine guns and a cannon, similar to the Arjun's. It can carry up to 8 men, alongside the 3 men crew. It is 7.5 metres long and 3 metres tall, and it can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. 100 of these beasts were constructed and will be vital in the formation of mechanised divisions in Kundrati's army. These new divisions are expected to bring versatility and strength to our military.

Treaty with Dankuk
November 4834

Earlier this year, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albanus completed negotiations with Dankuk for a diplomatic treaty. After voting in the senate and a 34-day filibuster by an unhappy senator, the ratification bill finally passed. This week Chairperson Zabalbeascoa and the Supreme Council of Workers travelled to Dankuk's capital Seongtaek. There they met with the Federal Council and Chairperson Kim Haesung. After discussing some final details, the treaty was signed earlier this morning. This is a great step in Dankuk-Kundrati relations.

There are also rumours that Kundrati is currently working on treaties with DUndorf, Barmenistan, and Telamon but there is no real evidence.

New Airport Under Construction
November 4834

It was announced today that a brand new international airport will be constructed in the outskirts of Kasaema. The announcement came with massive levels of approval, as the current Kasaema International Airport is small, confusing and outdated. The new airport will primarily fly Kundrati Airways (KA) aeroplanes.

Although this will be a big expense, the benefits are worth it. The new airport will make tourism larger and will improve trade, as 2 entire sections of the airport will only be dedicated to trade. The airport is expected to be finished sometime during 4837.

Treaty with Telamon
December 4835

Yesterday, we received the visit of the President of Telamon Svölnir Jónarsson. He was accompanied by members of a delegation that came to sign the Telamonic-Kundrati Declaration of Friendship. President Jónarsson was received by the entirety pf the Supreme Council of Workers. Chairperson Zabalbeascoa and President Jónarsson had a very long conversation in Zabalbeascoa's office. It is not known what they talked about, however, when they left the room they were both laughing. Following their meeting, both Heads of State signed the treaty in front of dozens of reporters and government officials. After the treaty was signed a state dinner was held for the Telamonic delegation.

After spending the night in Kundrati, the Telamonic delegation left early this morning to their country.

Following the signing of the treaty, we received from a reliable source some information about a new railway to be constructed. The railway would begin in Dundorf but would be continued in Kundrati. The part of it in Kundrati is expected to create at least 2000 jobs.
