Defence Minister Fredenburg
ISLAND PROJECT WITH IKRADON WILL HAVE PEARL PRODUCTION
Defence Ministry, April 18, 5541: After a meeting with a task force from Oberkommando Bundeswehr, Oberkommando Heer and Oberkommando Luftwaffe on priorities for surface to air missiles, Defence Minister Eric Fredenburg was asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if there was anything new happening with the island project with the Ikradonian Union, and Fredenburg responded:
Actually three new things have come up. First, there are oyster beds producing pearls right off the island being constructed and we do not have to choose between them; we will be getting both. Pearls will be a new source of profitability for the island. The current likelihood is the cultivation and harvesting will be an Ikradonian project and that Marcks Feiereisin Enterprises will buy most all of them for sale in the international luxury jewelry market. A good deal of the Ikradon share of construction is likely to be from pearls.
Second, although details have not been finalized, it is quite likely Ikradun Island Building Bonds will be issued shortly which are expected to sell right well and produce quite enough to cover construction costs. Repayment would be thus delayed until revenue streams were in play; in the case of Ikradon it would be from pearl sales while in the case of Dundorf it would be by port facility leasing to Dundorfische Hoch Logistik (DHL) Maritime, AG.
In any event the appropriations to the Defence Ministry are responsible for a portion of the construction cost and the Defence Ministry is authorizing the bond project to proceed with Fendelhorst, Braunschweiger and Feiereisin as Bond Counsel. This will mean there is no immediate need to reduce current defense spending since the funds necessary for construction will be in hand and repayment spread over a number of years and that paid from revenue from DHL Maritime, AG.
Third, Bundeskonstruction and Kriegslander have produced patrol boats before and will be doing so again at the DHL Maritime Shipyard. Further Bundeskonstruction and Kriegslander will be working with DHL Maritime, AG, to develop a viable container ship design so DHL Maritime, AG, can in future construct container ships rather than buy them. This effort, like operating the shipyard as a whole, will be a source of employment to a great number of the citizens of the Ikradonian Union. Additionally, as in the complements of its ship crews, international expertise in shipbuilding is being sought for the project.
