Cooperative Democrats win election! Mass reforms promised amidst nationalist worries.

The recently created Genossenschaftliche Demokratische Partei/Kyōryoku Minshutō has recently won a full Imperial Diet, winning all 421 seats. Espousing beliefs of progressivism, strong anti-fascism and a moderate form of "Utopian Socialism", it seems they were able to convince the country to vote for them. Several key electoral promises were made, ranging from economic expansion and revival, properly reinstating the monarchy and looking to properly unite the country. This last promise has received strong controversy from nationalists on both sides.

With the memories of the now defunct Hulstrian Fascist Party still fresh in many minds, the GDP/KM has looked to erase the effects by the HFP and begin efforts to unite the country, and resolve ethnic tensions. However, to nationalists, especially entho nationalists, this has raised controversy as both Hulstrian and Gao-Showan Nationalists have advocated for simply going their own ways to prevent more violence. However, to non-nationalists, the efforts to "re-unite" the country have received mixed responses. From apathy to excitement, the question of whether such a shattered peoples can ever again be reunited after so much time fighting each other is yet to be seen.

In regards to reviving the economy, the GDP/KM has promised to restore jobs for farmers and miners. With the global economy taking hits, and the two biggest regional stock exchanges taking a hit, that being Dankuk and Lourenne, the nations economy, having faced a slump for a considerable while has been in dire need of efforts to revive. However, the potential for an economic revival of Hulstria-Mikuni is there, and should the right efforts be taken in supporting and expanding the nations economy, a recovery may very well be possible.

With the monarchy being restored as a promise, this has been seen as potentially the first sign towards healing the country and resolving ethnic tensions. While the schedule for restoring the monarchy has yet to be disclosed to the public, this too has worried nationalists as a dual monarchy has been seen as the only way forward by the GDP/KM and would be instrumental in healing the nation.

Whatever the case, Hulstria-Mikuni has been promised healing and big plans. With apathy remaining high however, there are those certain that these reforms will fail to come and whilst others claim that parties like the HDU were able to bring some reform. The biggest issue has been nationalists however, and the possibility of ethnic tensions skyrocketing once again.

Dual Monarchy Restored; Amidst celebrations, nationalists pose focal opposition.

The two nations of Hulstria and Gao-Soto have always had a history that largely coincided with monarchism and monarchism has always played a role in keeping the two countries united. However, within recent years, the idea of keeping the Federation between Hulstria and Gao-Soto has become difficult due to ethnic tensions. Today however, the dual monarchy has been restored in an effort to re-unite the two countries. For the Hulstrian throne, Leon l has been crowned as Emperor of Hulstria, from the house of Rothingren-Traugott. As for the Mikuni throne, Emperor Koan Mikado has been crowned as the Mikado of Mikuni, from Clan Inoue.

The Dual Monarchs have largely been given a ceremonial focus, with the goal of serving as two uniting figures for the nation and ease ethnic tensions in the nation. However, nationalists have made their opposition very clear, believing that the two nations can no longer be united. Protests in various cities across the Federation have erupted, calling for separation of the two nations. However, despite nationalist opposition, the idea that the two nations can once again be reunited is starting to grow and gain momentum. Despite this, the Federation still has a long way to go to reuniting the two people as ethnic tensions remain high, especially from Hulstrian Nationalists with some groups looking to remind the populace of the Hulstrian Fascist Party and the supposed "greatness" that came with it.

Whatever the case, with the monarchy restored, the first step at reunification has been done. The Federation still faces many challenges, socially and economically. With ethnic tensions high, and the economy low, the next step will have to be resolving both issues before they escalate or allow another problem to escalate.

Mikun Politician shot; Hulstria-Mikuni enters chaos as Imperial Minister urges calmness.

Normally when you have a disagreement with another person, you'd respect that opinion and move on. Unfortunately Hulstria-Mikuni is not under normal circumstances. Sueoka Takauji, a prominent independent and firm believer in keeping the Federation united was shot and killed in Kien. The shooter was quickly apprehended by local authorities and was found to have ties to Hulstrian Nationalist Groups. This has led to a domino effect across Hulstria-Mikuni with protests being staged by those who want justice, nationalists from Hulstria, Mikun nationalists, even remnants of the infamous HFP. This has seen the government put in complete disarray as the entire country has fundamentally been put to a stop. With police overstretched across the country trying to keep order, the question of martial law has been raised.

With nationalists from both sides blaming each other, fascists wanting a restoration of the Greater Hulstrian State and protesters wanting justice, the police across the entire country have been overwhelmed and the Imperial Diet has been abuzz with efforts to try to resolve the situation. Some have proposed full martial law to support the overwhelmed law enforcement, others have proposed the Imperial Minister or even the Dual Monarchs directly intervene and urge calm, whether on national television or visiting affected cities in person. Others however have focused on the main belligerent of the crisis, that being the far-right and have proposed the "Federation Defense Act" to be drafted which would fundamentally outlaw any and all groups linked to fascism, Eliyan Thought and allow a created department specifically created for the FDA to handle and have the ability to arrest any individuals who are confirmed to have broken the FDA.

While the FDA has yet to be formally drafted, the idea has gained traction amongst the GDP/KM alongside the Imperial Minister urging calm and stability to protests, refusing to enact any form of martial law.
My fellow countrymen, I am here today, not as your Imperial Chancellor, but as a fellow countrymen. Our beloved Federation is in chaos, and people are scared. I understand. And I am urging everyone to not give in to the protests. We hear the people. We will create a solution. But I need your help. Being in the streets, putting more difficulty on our police force will not create a solution. It only allows those who seek to repeat the tragedies of the past to gain the edge. We must stay firm and united as we tackle these trying times. We cannot and must not allow ourselves to be divided ever again. We must be united in these times.

With the country in chaos as protests continue, the FDA being debated before even being drafted, Hulstria-Mikuni is in turbulent times and should stability not arrive quickly, the far-right may find an opportunity once again to damage the country. However, for now, the situation is as stable as it possibly can be. Whatever the case, the future for Hulstria-Mikuni is from but several stars in the sky can clear the dark skies. Whether it be utilizing the monarchs as a way to bring order and stability or other alternative methods, the Federation will have to do what it must to survive and keep the Federation together.

Right-of-centre political figures together form the Liberal Party

Image
Ryota Amano elected the President of the Liberal Party in the party's first congress

21th January 5444

Kien, Hulstria, Imperial Crownlands of Mikuni-Hulstria - The political landscape of the Federation has undergone changes as right-leaning political figures has come together to form a brand new political party that would present a more conservative program for the post-fascist period compared to the one of the center-left Cooperative Democratic Party while also distancing itself from the past far-right movements such as Eliyan Thought and Hulstrian Fascist Party, which are movements seen as absolutely abhorrent by the vast majority of the members of the Liberal Party due to Hulstrian supremacism (which is something the party strongly opposes), rejection of liberal values (the party also obviously opposes that due to it following a center-right form of liberalism), and also totalitarianism (which is a thing that is hated by almost everyone in the Federation). The party seeks to actively reject the past far-right movements due to those reasons. The Liberal Party has been established amidst mass protests, in which the fascists wanted the restoration of the Fascist Party regime and the protesters wanted justice, and also amidst ethnic tensions.

The main program of the Liberal Party is actively participating in the post-fascist political reconstruction, seeking to improve democratic values and formally abolishing the strongly undemocratic Constitution of 5422 (which has been promulgated by the Fascist regime for its purposes), replacing the 5422 Constitution with either a monarchist version of the democratic Constitution of 5361 or creating an unwritten constitution that would involve several pieces of constitutional law which would be the constituting elements of different political institutions, a free-market economy that would encourage economic growth and social development, a socially conservative-leaning yet pragmatic policy that would see tradition and progress to be compatible with each other and would neither support excessive traditionalism nor excessive progressivism, and a united Mikuni-Hulstria in which the Mikunians, Hulstrians and the other ethnic groups would together live in peace at a federation.

Though, it has been rumored that the remnants of the Eliyan Movement and the Hulstrian Fascist Party are making plans to infiltrate the Liberal Party and to change the party's direction towards racial supremacism and fascism. The party's first congress resulted in Ryota Amano, a political dissident during the Hulstrian Fascist Party rule and a news reporter turned politician, becoming the inaugural President of the Liberal Party. Ryota Amano pledged to prevent the fascists and Hulstrian supremacists from infiltrating the party, and due to his track record as a political dissident resisting the Fascist regime, he is popular among many political circles. The fascists had called the Liberal Party as a "communist party disguising as conservatives" stating that they support unity with the so-called "dirty" Mikun race and they oppose the "natural" superiority of the Hulstrians; the Liberal politicians responded the allegations by saying that they aren't remotely close the communism and peaceful unity is a goal which should be pursued if a brigher future for Mikuni-Hulstria is wanted.

Federation Defense Act passed in Imperial Diet and Supreme Court; Fascism persecuted in Hulstria-Mikuni.

As the nation entered chaos only years ago, one of the many solutions proposed was the Federation Defense Act. An act that would essentially ban any fascist organization and any organization that espoused Eliyan Thought. Many thought the Act would not get through the Diet or the Supreme Court yet those expectations were defined as the Federation Defense Act has now become law of the land. Any organization or political party that openly espouses fascist ideology and place any members under thorough investigation. The government organization responsible for reviewing parties and organizations is the Federation Security Council, tasked with identifying any organization or party that is suspected to align with fascist or Eliyan Thought. Any citizens suspected to be apart of any fascist organization will not only face immediate investigation but also arrestment for endangering the public good.

Already, mass arrests have begun on those with ties to the Hulstrian Fascist Party, and other Eliyanist groups. This has seen little protest as while the nation was in chaos years ago, the protests have gradually ended with the FDA being passed and with many from both Mikuni and Hulstria not wanting to endure yet another era of fascism, the FDA has faced little opposition in the populace, save for those sympathetic to Fascism and radical free speech advocates.

Regardless, the FDA has been enshrined into law and while it can be revoked with a firm majority in the Imperial Diet, it is unlikely to face much opposition due to the horrours that fascism has brought on the Federation. Whatever the case, fascism has been dealt a major blow politically in Hulstria-Mikuni and Imperial Chancellor Philip Pasche has, in a national address commented that the first steps to eradicating fascism do not stop with the FDA.
With the Supreme Court passing the FDA as legal, this is but one step towards the removal of fascism in Hulstria-Mikuni. Simply banning the ideology won't be enough. In the coming months, we will begin looking into how Fascism arose and we will look to combat the seeds. Hatred will know no shelter in our Federation. Whether it be in social thought or education, we will combat all avenues of hatred.

Cooperative Democrats win elections again, Liberals become the main opposition

5th January 5446

The post-fascist political transition in Mikuni-Hulstria has saw another milestone with the first nationwide openly contested multi-party elections held today, these elections were won by the center-left Cooperative Democratic Party which got 274 seats out of 421, with the center-right Liberal Party getting 147 seats out of 421 and becoming the main opposition party. The CDP won in the prefectures of Budenlar, Mitorania, Hiruga; the LP won in the prefectures of Hulstria and Kuratha. Philip Pasche, the leader of CDP, receieved another term as the Imperial Chancellor, and Ryota Amano, the leader of LP, became the inaugural Leader of the Opposition in the Federation.

About the Federal Prefectures, it saw a split outcome. The Cooperative Democrats won the state governments of Budenlar, Mitorania and Hiruga; and the Liberals won the state governments of Hulstria and Kuratha. The new elected state governments of the Prefectures took office, marking the first time that subnational policymaking bodies were elected since a long time, and both parties have made promises to develop the prefectures they control.

The new elections marked another important step in reversing the effects of fascism in the Hulstria-Mikuni as it meant the introduction of multi-party politics and the exclusion of Eliyanist and Fascist parties in the newborn multi-party system. With also passage of the Federation Defense Law and plans for further reforms to the political system, it looks like the transition to democracy in the Federation is still an ongoing process.

Newly founded Hulstrian People's Party slams government plans for schools
August 5446, Hulstria:
The newly founded populist, hulstrian-nationalist, Hulstrian People's Party led by its chairman Friedrich Tschecher had harsh words for the EURA plans of the government.
During their founding-festivities in a traditional beerhall, Tschecher went onto the stage to say the following: "EURA? They want to take the language of our children, they have an anti-hulstrian agenda. My friends, we are not going to allow that, every future vote for the HVP is a vote for hulstrian interests. Who else would you want to trust with the future of your children? This education bill has to be killed, it is dangerous for our culture, our heritage and everything we hulstrians stand for. But today shall be a day of festive moods and happy faces, so this will be the last of it today. Prost und Servas!" After the little speech, Tschecher returned to his table with party colleagues. One look around the event only leaves one thought in the mind of the observer "This is Hulstria."
"It looked like a silly semi-cliquey thing between a few players to me. Following around a troll called Mbites like he was some sort of god... which wouldn't have mattered so much in the scale of things, except one of them was a Mod."

Eliyan Dollar phased out as Hulstrian Crown is restored as currency; EURA passes Imperial Diet.

The worthless Eliyan Dollar, practically holding no value to any nation on Terra has finally been phased out, relegated to the dustbin of history. The former Hulstrian Crown has been restored as legal tender with government efforts being made to ensure citizens can receive a proper transition without chaos or disrupting their lives. To that end, this marks the first major step in reviving the Hulstro-Mikun economy and restoring some sense of confidence in stability.

Among that, the Education Unity Reform Act has passed the Imperial Diet, mandating the teaching of the Hulstro-Mikun language and moving away from strictly Hulstrian in an effort to not only revive Mikun culture but help cultivate a sense of unity amongst the upcoming and future generations. However this has faced strong criticism from the recently formed Hulstrian People's Party, looking to protect current traditions and prevent the possibility of a Mikun dominated federation, despite reassurances from the government that it is to establish a federation of equality.

Whatever the case, the government has begun efforts to bring stability and unity to the Federation and begin the first steps towards ending the economic death that has griped the Federation for decades.
