Cooperative Democrats win election! Mass reforms promised amidst nationalist worries.
The recently created Genossenschaftliche Demokratische Partei/Kyōryoku Minshutō has recently won a full Imperial Diet, winning all 421 seats. Espousing beliefs of progressivism, strong anti-fascism and a moderate form of "Utopian Socialism", it seems they were able to convince the country to vote for them. Several key electoral promises were made, ranging from economic expansion and revival, properly reinstating the monarchy and looking to properly unite the country. This last promise has received strong controversy from nationalists on both sides.
With the memories of the now defunct Hulstrian Fascist Party still fresh in many minds, the GDP/KM has looked to erase the effects by the HFP and begin efforts to unite the country, and resolve ethnic tensions. However, to nationalists, especially entho nationalists, this has raised controversy as both Hulstrian and Gao-Showan Nationalists have advocated for simply going their own ways to prevent more violence. However, to non-nationalists, the efforts to "re-unite" the country have received mixed responses. From apathy to excitement, the question of whether such a shattered peoples can ever again be reunited after so much time fighting each other is yet to be seen.
In regards to reviving the economy, the GDP/KM has promised to restore jobs for farmers and miners. With the global economy taking hits, and the two biggest regional stock exchanges taking a hit, that being Dankuk and Lourenne, the nations economy, having faced a slump for a considerable while has been in dire need of efforts to revive. However, the potential for an economic revival of Hulstria-Mikuni is there, and should the right efforts be taken in supporting and expanding the nations economy, a recovery may very well be possible.
With the monarchy being restored as a promise, this has been seen as potentially the first sign towards healing the country and resolving ethnic tensions. While the schedule for restoring the monarchy has yet to be disclosed to the public, this too has worried nationalists as a dual monarchy has been seen as the only way forward by the GDP/KM and would be instrumental in healing the nation.
Whatever the case, Hulstria-Mikuni has been promised healing and big plans. With apathy remaining high however, there are those certain that these reforms will fail to come and whilst others claim that parties like the HDU were able to bring some reform. The biggest issue has been nationalists however, and the possibility of ethnic tensions skyrocketing once again.
