State Chancellor enters the murky water of Beiteynu-Luthori row
July 5226
Haldor, Greater Kordusia - State Chancellor Jörg Hohmann joined Foreign Minister Kaleb Eichhorn, and Defense Minister and Inspector-General of the Armed Forces of Dorvik Generaladmiral Frederich Belar to discuss the on-going situation between Luthori and Beiteynu. The State Chancellor noted that the situation was confusing and the information related to the assassination of the former Beiteynu Prime Minister was limited at best. "The assassination of any foreign official is strongly condemned by this situation appears to be spinning and without wheels. I applaud the efforts made by those interest in peace but quite frankly, I think we're all a little concerned that the situation might end poorly without oversight." The State Chancellor recommended that the World Congress pick up the matter and lead an investigation into the matter. "Should Luthori be complicit with the assassination of a foreign official it is a grave violation of international law. In the event that they are found to have flaunted international law in such a way, they should be harshly dealt with and made to make reparations' to Beiteynu. That is a big "if"." The Foreign Office recommended all parties show restraint and settle the matters diplomatically, if they cannot FM Eichhorn recommended the World Congress as a neutral mediator.
The presence of the Inspector-General of the Armed Forces, Generaladmiral Frederich Belar, prompted some to ask if Dorvik would involve itself in any combat operations should tensions continue to rise. "I can say this without exception. Dorvik will not tolerate armed conflict on Artania without attempts to solve the situation diplomatically beforehand. Luthori has long been a sort've "pariah" in Artanian affairs and we sincerely hope that whatever the situation is, they do what it takes to make it right and provide relevant intelligence and information to the world community before it escalates further." A reporter questioned the Inspector-General about the Dorvish relations with Beiteynu and the Generaladmiral shrugged. "We've always maintained cordial relations with the Beiteynuese people and government. We're naturally focused on our own backyard, that being Artania, but none of what was said here today stands for Luthori alone. The State Chancellor, the Foreign Minister and I have all the expectations that should Beiteynu possess information and intelligence that would resolve this issue, for better or worse, they should provide it to the World Congress and the world community."
Markets across Artania took a downturn on the announcement that the Luthori House of Commons was debating sanctions and reaction to Beiteynu.
