State-Owned Oil Companies to Be Privatisated
7 May 5157
The first legislation of second Kazak cabinet, which proposes partial privatisation of Southern Petroleum Corporation and Ganşehir Oil and Gas, went to the planning and budget committee for review this afternoon. If the bill passes the Assembly, a committee will be formed to regulate sale of shares of the corporations to private investors. The bill specifies that majority of shares will stay state-owned. Minister of Finance İhsan Abay spoke in favour of the proposed bill from the Assembly rostrum.
"The partial privatisations of GPAO and Ganşehir Oil and Gas will increase efficiency and accountability. It will also revitalise the petroleum industry which will benefit our workers and business persons."
In a seperate press conference, Prime Minister Orhan Kazak announced his government's plans to improve relations with other Majatran countries, including Istalia and Kalopia. Prime Minister is expected to pay state visits to further cooperation and friendship.
