Phase 2 of the PDI begins; Development for Gaduridos, here we come.

With Phase 1 of the PDI being accomplished, Phase 2 has come into play of this ambitious plan with a focus on targeted investments in specific industries across the nation. While oil, tourism and iron mining lead the nation, the PDI calls for diversification of the economy and supporting other sectors of the economy such as agriculture. Having received moderated investments before, agriculture remains an industry with valuable necessity and some infrastructure for further investments. Alongside that, efforts can be poured into supporting sustainable industries such as lumber and fishing. While Lumber can be effective on the mainland, fishing can benefit communities all across Gaduridos and ensure a diverse economy.

To that end, investments shall begin in both industries to start as a basis for economic diversification. Agriculture will receive modernizations and subsidies to encourage growth and development. Farms will receive modern equipment to ensure adequate growth whilst fishing industries will also receive government support and development, with a particular focus on modernizing methods of catching fish to limit environmental damage whilst ensuring the most can be gained from fishing. Both investments are expected to heavily benefit rural communities, inland and near the sea, and will ultimately benefit the national economy.

With Stage 1 of Phase 2 beginning, the Gaduri economy can only expect to continue growing and other industries to receive support from the government to ensure a properly diverse economy. With the prospect of raising the Gaduri economy even higher then before and promoting development and local industries, the PDI remains popular amongst the electorate. Combined with the Tunnel between La Vista and Ciudad de Gaduri and we can only expect more growth for Gaduridos once the tunnel is accomplished.

Trans-Seleyan Railway expanded to Montedios in Cuernatecas; Regional development to continue.

In a bid to both benefit the national economy and state economy, the governor of Cuernatecas, Alicia Yepes has announced that the Trans-Seleyan Railway, which currently connects and passes through the city of Tonataro, will be expanded to the city of Montedios. With the economic benefits of the Trans-Seleyan Railway evident, Governor Yepes has looked to expand the prosperity and wealth that Tonatoro experiences to the rest of Ceurnatecas. By expanding the Trans-Seleyan Railway to Montedios, not only will prosperity come to Montedios and benefit the state economy, which is in need of improvement after 12 years of being under the far-right New Social Movement, which had neglected to work with the Federal government on most matters.

With that in mind, Governor Yepes is expected to expand the Trans-Seleyan Railway to other cities within Ceurnatecas such as Las Nubes and Playa del Oriented once Montedios is connected. The economic benefits for the state is expected to be immense as it will allow a quick and easy transfer of goods from Montedios to almost anywhere in Northern Seleya and obviously across the rest of Gaduridos, supporting not just the state economy but the national economy as well.

With the expected completion to be in 5503, the expansion will help many Gaduri in the state, alongside pave the road to economic growth for Ceurnatecas and begin repairing the state from 12 years of NSM rule. Depending on how elections go next year however, Governor Yepes may not be governor to see the expansion complete or even see expansion to other cities. Regardless however, the expansion will be a good basis for whoever comes next and for those in Montedios, it is a relief for the state government to begin expanding the railway.

LA PRENSA DEMÓCRATICA

Diego Chavez Selected as ULG Presidential Nominee

Image
Chavez announcing his candidacy.

Diego Chavez, the current Leader in Congress of the ULG, has been selected to run as the party’s presidential nominee in the upcoming election. Following their decline at the last elections, the Liberal Union is not expected to win, either in Congress or the Presidency, however polling has recently looked favourable, suggesting that the party may increase their vote share.

Chavez is a veteran of the Liberal Union, having served in Congress since 5479, twenty-two years ago. Elected at the age of 36, he is turning 58 this year. Before going into politics, Chavez worked in investment banking, and therefore has a significant amount of personal wealth.

His selection marks a definitive move to the right of politics by the ULG since the days of Juliana Romano and Sophia De Luca. Though he served as the Minister for Trade and Industry under President De Luca and Prime Minister Gonzales, he has always been seen as one of the leaders within the classical liberal faction of the party. ULG members, responsible for choosing the nominee, clearly feel that if the party is to stand a chance at winning future elections it must move towards the economic right, whilst remaining liberal on social issues.

Chavez is putting a big bet on his political future by running as the nominee in this election. The ULG are not thought to be favourites to win the Presidency, with many commentators predicting that the PSSG’s Rosalana Garcia will retain the position. By running, Chavez will also be giving up his seat in Congress, and thus will not be the party’s Leader in Congress after the next election. Whilst this would not completely end his career, not holding elected office would reduce his visibility to the public by a significant margin.

The ULG is running this campaign on the idea of further economic growth, international trade and Pan-Seleyanism. They are also emphasising the tax rises implemented by the governing coalition, with a central theme of the campaign being the danger of regular people having less disposable income. The party will also maintain a strong commitment to the Income Doubling Plan (PDI), as the other two parties are also expected to do. They will however take advantage of the fact that the PDI was implemented under a Liberal President in their messaging.

Internal party sources have told La Prensa Demócratica that party leadership is realistic about their targets this election, with aims to become the second-largest party, rather than the third. They also aim to win around 40% of the vote in the Presidential race, a realistic aim given that the two governing parties will likely support the current President.
