Kaliburg Financial District is set to become one of the most important financial centres within Seleya as both domestic and foreign
financial service companies have begun to set up shop in Kalistan's liberal capital. Government policies on economic liberalisation
of businesses and more specifically the financial sector, has led to an increase in the number of transactions within in the Kaliburg
Securities Exchange by more than 400% over the past few months. This combined with the stable nature of the Enskalan economy
and the nation's central location for trade and financial transactions between Antania and Dovani has led to the growth of not only
domestic holdings companies like EIC and Batua, but also to an influx of foreign investment firms setting up office to take advantage o
of the growing stock and derivatives trade.
A great example in growing business trust in the Enskalan economy is the FBBC's decision to move their main office from Baltusia to
the Kaliburg Financial District, stating that they intended to
'craft a stable financial services sector', following
"little financial stability"in Baltusia. It is clear from this move, as well as several statements from various investment firms and economics specialists that
Kalistan is set for a successful growth in the financial services sector over the coming years, which the Finance Minister has called,
"a sign of our government's commitment to the economic development, free trade and commerce."A Great Opportunity For KalistanThe government has sought to take advantage of the growing financial interest through the passing into law of the
"Banking and Investment
Regulatory Reform Act 4740" which has decentralised the financial sector by giving banks and financial institutions more freedom to
lend, has legalised the growing trade in cryptocurrency under government oversight and has implemented regulatory reforms which intend
to provide protection to national and foreign assets traded on financial markets. The government has also created a National Development
Bank, Garapen, using disused government assets left over from the socialist old regime as collateral to attract investment for use in
infrastructure spending and business grants. By utilising the growing financial sector, the Government seeks to allow for a freer movement of
capital throughout the Globe while ensuring that the financial development benefits the people and businesses of the Enskalan State.
The Growth of Domestic InvestorsNot only is the government seeing the growing financialization of the economy as an opportunity for investment. EIC, a large investment
and holdings company in the Enskalan State, focusing on infrastructure and pharmaceuticals and holding stocks in EnsGas, Osasor and
Energia, has seen the financialisation as an opportunity for the company to expand its investment portfolio internationally by enabling
the merger of smaller pharmaceutical companies with the Osasor giant. Another interested party is Batua, which owns significant holdings
in the Enskalan transport and mining sectors, has seen the negotiations between Lourenne and the Government as an opportunity to expand
mining operations into the rich untapped mineral deposits not only in Lourenne but throughout Dovani. Emesan has already been floated
as the main beneficiary of negotiations between the United Kingdom and the Enskalan State in exchange for Industrie Capet-Fouquet and
Groupe Larosière receiving rights to shipbuilding and the expansion of the Enskalan mainland's docks. Such developments are seen by policy
analysts as an opportunity for Enskalan's thriving mining and pharmaceutical sectors to expand beyond solely the national market, hopefully
leading to increased employment and a decrease in product costs for pharmaceuticals goods and ferrominerals.
Haritza is the leading Enskalan newspaper in Kalistan. Although having historically limited readership it has grown in popularity with the
rise of the National Movement and the election of Marinel Berrio as Lehendakari of the Enskalan State. Its editors emphasise political
neutrality on internal Movement matters, however it is staunchly in support of the National Movement's aim of establishing an Enskalan
national identity.
