Selucia forced to pact
The results of the 4294 Selucian elections have created a divided parliament.

After years of bipartidism, the return of the party Factio Democratica has shaken the pillars of the Selucian political scenario, and has lead to open negotiations between the parties to form a new Government.

The results were: 193 seats for Partis Imperialis, current Government; 176 seats for In Marea-Civis Sinistram, current main opposition; and 132 seats for Factio Democratica after its return.

The parties also saw movements in the Provinciaes: Partis Imperialis lost Occidentria in favour of Factio Democratica, and In Marea lost Marestella also in favour of it, while In Marea also lost Oriensos in favour of Partis Imperialis:

Insularia, the fortress of the center-left party In Marea-Civis Sinistram, has once again chosen to be leaded by Zenon Gogolas, the Praetor that directed the fight against the Selucian fires and have increased the quality of life in the Province.

While we are happy to see Mr. Gogolas once again as Praetor of Insularia, this were not the results we were expecting, if I have to be honest. The high figures of the party will meet tomorrow and discuss what went wrong, and how can we correct it.

The return of Factio Democratica is the most usual explanation. A center-left party, has got the most moderate votes from In Marea and Partis Imperialis, both placed more extremist in the political spectrum. They now will have to choose between forming and alternative and progressist Government with In Marea-Civis Sinistram, or to support the current Government and form a conservative Government with Partis Imperialis

Selucian Head of State regrets "the lack of International commitment when it comes to actions".
After releasing a joint International Treaty, he asks for more "international support".



Selucian Head of State, Petrus Viator, has regretted today the lack of commitment of the international community when it comes to take actions against the abuse of humanity, in reference to the lack of support to the treaty of the "Objectives of the Century", released in collaboration with the Government of Selucia and which aims all nations to stablish de "basic and fundamental civil rights that should be achieved by the end of the next century if humanity wants to prosper".

When it comes to words, everyone wants to have their say, everyone wants to be listened, everyone wants to give their opinion and everyone wants the others to agree with them. But when it comes to action, everyone is too afraid of what others may think. The treaty that Selucia released a few months ago was not intended to be an intromision in national politics of any nation, was not meant to be a treaty to give more power to the economy or the banks. It was, and still is, just a treaty to guarantee all the people in Terra the most basic and neccesary human rights. Everyone as human being should share the same rights, and its clear that this does not happen all around Terra. We know some nations may not allow or accept abortions. They may not allow or accept other religions. They may not accept that people can have different sexualities. And I'm afraid that, if democratic and advanced nations in terms of civil rights don't press and show that everyone is equal, and that all of us are commited to guarantee everyone their liberty and protection to their rights as humans, humanity is lost. I did not want to believe it, but it has been clearly showed.
Selucia contacted most democratic government to ask for a ratification of the treaty. It did have to happen inmediately, we have an entire century to do it. But still,
only 5 nations replied. And out of those nations, only 2 have announced its intention to ratify it. That makes me so sad. And that should make us all so sad. Selucia will keep fighting for the rights of everyone, national or international, that's for sure.

Interview with new Selucian Prime Minister
Orion Sideris has been elected as new Caesar Senatus Seluciae after the 4294 Selucian elections.

Interviewer: Good afternoon Mr. Sideris, it's a pleasure to have you here.
Orion Sideris: Good afternoon.

I: After five years, a failed investiture and a hard negotiation, In Marea-Civis Sinistram comes back to power. How do you feel about being the Head of Government of our nation?
O.S: Well, of course I feel proud of leading my nation to its future. It's an honour and a responsibility, and I will do my best to keep Selucia as one of the most democratic and free nations in Terra.

I: What are your plans for this legislature in the Government?
O.S: well, we have to take into account that we have to count with the support of Factio Democratica, or at least its abstention, if we want to pass some laws. We know Partis Imperialis will oppose to most of our measures, as our main goal during this legislature will be to recover the past socialist and progressist laws that PI turned down when they came to the Government during the 4290-4294 period.

I: You have kept almost the same Ministers that your predecessor, Mr. Jerzyr Laskaris, had in his cabinets. Why is that, and why have you replaced others?
O.S: It all comes to a matter of utility. While, for example, I would have loved to keep Aqua Prunilla [former Minister of Health and Razamid Peace Prize Winner], we must understand and assume that she has an age, and she is not capable to do some things that others may be able to do. However, I'm sure her substitute will try to do her best as well, so we don't have to worry about the future of the education of our children. Except for this case, I have kept all the ministers of Mr. Laskaris, but obviously I couldn't fill all the cabinet with my ministers if we came with a deal with Factio Democratica.

I: Talking about the deal, how did it come?
O.S: Well, as said after the elections, Factio Democratica had almost all the responsibility. They had two options: supporting the government of Partis Imperialis (by joining it or by blocking an alternative government), or to form an alternative Government with our party. Being a left-wing party, we thought they had their option clear. And so we contacted them and an arrangement was soon made.

I: Now what are the plans of your Government, in general lines, in both internal and foreign affairs?
O.S: In Internal Affairs, we plan to stablish equality once again for all Selucians, but this have to be further discussed with Factio Democratica as they hold this cabinet. In foreign affairs, we plan to restablish the Selucian Ambassador to the World Congress. While I respect the decision of Mr. Laskaris of removing our representant, I think it is important to have a voice in this high and respectable camera, specially in these turbulent times. We also plan to stablish formal relationships with more nations, by encouraging them to ratify our Selucian Official Diplomatic Treaty, already signed by more than 40 nations worldwide. Selucia has to take back its seat as defender of human rights all along Terra, although some nations may disagree with democracies and civil rights.

I: In Marea-Civis Sinistram, despite being the second force in the Senate, only managed to win in one province, Insularia, where its Regional Leader, Zenon Gogolas, is very popular. During the past legislature, he almost ended in the judges after displaying a banner in the regional council protesting against the Partis Imperialis law regarding refugees. How does this make you feel?
O.S: I totally support the actions made by Mr. Gogolas. In democratic nations, everyone has the right to protest pacifically against any kind of discrimination. Partis Imperialis planned, and indeed they did it, to ban refugees in our nation. This is intolerable. Mr. Gogolas did what every honest person would have done: show his refusal to this antidemocratic and discriminatory law.

Selucian Government: No plans on joining the MACEA.

Selucian Minister of Defence, Tranio Ulixes, arriving to the conference.

The Res Publica Seluciae will not join the Majatran Alliance and Common Economic Area, at least in the near future. This is what can be interpreted from the statements that the Selucia's Defence Minister, Tranio Ulixes, made today at the annual defence conference. When asked about the issue, in relation with the last military training that the alliance has carried out in the interior sea of the continent, its response has been very explanatory.

At the moment, it is not among the plans of this government that our nation joins the Majatra Alliance and Common Economic Area. In the first place, because we do not hold a sufficient majority to ratify the treaty, for which the votes of Partis Imperialis are necessary, and this party has been radically opposed to any kind of approach to the Alliance from the very beginning.

And even in the case of having its support, the Government of Selucia has more important things to deal with at this time than to worry about another international treaty. We have signed economic and political agreements with practically all the nations of the continent, including those that are part of the alliance, and we do not want to lose sovereignty with respect to our military and border control, issue [the military] that is also internationally treated to ensure the cooperation of other nations in case Selucia is not able to defend itself from an attack.

In the same way, now that I have been asked about it, I want to make public that In Marea-Civis Sinistram is working with its partner of Government, Factio Democratica, to create an agreement between the Alliance and the Selucian Republic, in order to guarantee that everything works correctly on the continent. The waters of Selucia, on the other hand, belong to the nation, and we would like that, before being used, our Government is asked for permission because otherwise, it would be a clear violation of our nation's borders.

In other part of the Conference, the Minister has thanked the nations that have already ratified the treaty of the Objectives of the Century, and those that are in process of doing it, stating that:

We have to stand together to be strong, to defend the rights of everyone across Terra, to protect the rights of every single citizen no matter where they are.

Selucia and Istalia, like two brothers An opinion article by Felix Aductus

Selucia and Istalia, two of the oldest democracies in Majatra, have been found once again in opposite positions. This time, it comes related to the Hulstrian problem, where conversations between the Selucian Chief of the Intelligence Agency and her colleagues have been leaked, including confessions such as

The actions of the Istalian Government are being done too quickly, without valorating the situation of the Hulstrian citizens overall and where this may end.

Although the Selucian Minister of Defence, Tranio Ulixes, has already stated that this is a personal opinion and does not reflect the thoughts of the Selucian Government, currently integrated by In Marea-Civis Sinistram and Factio Democratica, this is another chapter in the history of the Selucia-Istalia relationship. Like brothers, they tend to support each other as lights of democracy in Majatra, but while the Governments of Istalia tend to act fast in order to cut problems at the very first moment, the Governments of Selucia tend to take more time evaluating and calculating each and every possibility looking for the best option.

No one would think that once upon a time, Istalians and Selucians where part of the same family, and that they enjoyed the same policies. Of course, that was a very long time ago, before the formation of the current nations of Selucia and Istalia. Now, Istalians are described as proposing a lot and acting fast, with an aggressive temperament in the way of describing their ideas to improve democracy in Terra, while the Selucians tend to be more allergic to the media focus of the international scene (proof of this is the declared institutional neutrality towards all the nations of the Selucian Republic), and tend to be more reserved regarding what they think of what happens internationally. Istalia has earned enemies throughout the planet for trying to achieve what from its point of view, was good to improve democracy, while Selucia, although no enemy has been sought, does not just have powerful allies precisely for being so neutral.

Currently, the international policies of both nations are closely intertwined. While Selucia is like the brother who always tries to stop the first impulses of the other trying to reason and shuffle all options, Istalia is the brother who pushes the partner to act and stop doing everything just on words.

Tranio Ulixes, Selucian Minister of Defence, has announced today the election of Midas Athanas, until today Chief of the Selucian Police, as new Director of the Selucian National Intelligence Agency (NIS), following the resignation of his predecessor, Axia Carus. His place in the National Police will be covered by Ragnus Althea [left of the photo], and he will start his duties this afternoon.

Our National Security Agency needs a strong person and he is the most capable to lead the body to guarantee stability within our borders.

Midas Athanas, 50, has been the Chief of the Selucian Police Forces for the past 12 years, and will be the forth member of the Police that will lead the highest National body of Security (after Dillius Cornelius Tirrus,4158-4182, Leader of the Kal Serathi Police Force; Artea Villata, 4229-4241, Leader of the Uleroth Police Force; and Ares Amidus, 4251 until his expulsion of his position in 4270 following the leaked information of hundreds of documents, Leader of the West Shadar Police Force).

ICS Research 4298 See complete results

The Investigationum Centrum pro Socialis of Selucia has released today its 4298 Research, soon after the 4298 elections took place resulting in the victory of Partis Imperialis, without a majority to defeat the current Government of In Marea Civis Sinistram-Factio Democratica.

The Study has published the official unemployment number, 34.72%, with Oriensos being the region with the highest unemployment (9.49%) and Marestella the region with the lowest unemployment (4.21%).

Citizens were asked about the following issues: Centralization of the State, Civil Rights, Ecology, Foreign Policy, Government Responsibility, Market, Military, Morality and Religion.

Centralization of the State: According to the study, a 57.6% of Selucians are in favour of some kind of federalisation of the State, whilst a 42.4% wants a more centralized state. Cor Patriae is the region with the highest support for federalisation (69.1%), and Oriensos, the region with more centralists (54.4%).

Civil Rights:: 54.1% of Selucians define themselves as some kind of permissive, with a 45.9% of citizens preferring to be restrictive in matter of their rights. Insularia is the region with the highest amount of permissive people (70.7%), and Oriensos, the region with more restrictive people (70.1%).

Ecology: In general, Selucians are not very interested in ecology, and a 56.74% of the population define themselves as "skeptic", against a 43.26% of ecologist Selucians. The most skeptical region is Insularia (64.5%), and the most and only ecologist, Marestella (63.2%).

Foreign Policy: In general terms, Selucians tend to be more internationalist than its Majatran neighbours, with a 54.96% defining themselves as "internationalists". Cor Patriae is the most internationalist region (64.4%), and Marestella (68.9%) the most and only isolationist.

Military: With all the regions tending to be militarist, the most militarist is Occidentria, and the least, Marestella.

Morality: Insularia has proven to be the most progressist region with a 63.3%, and Occidentria the most conservative, with a 60.9%.

Religion: Once again, Insularia has got the highest percentage of secular citizens (64.2%), and Cor Patriae, the highest number of religious people (68.7%).

After the results of the Research came out, the Praetor of Insularia, Zenon Gogolas, issued a statement where he declared that "the differences between Insularia and the rest of Selucia, specially those regarding civil rights, morality and religion, show our citizens that we need to have a different voice, that Insularia has advanced much more in democratic terms than some other provinciaes of this nation, and therefore we would like to talk with the central government about the future of Insularia and Selucia in general."

Zenon Gogolas, Praetor of Insularia since the early 80's and a popular figure in the region, belongs to the same party as the Caesar Senatus of Selucia, Mr. Orion Sideris, both to In Marea-Civis Sinistram, but the words of the Praetor may lead to an open disagreement between both figures.

Mr. Gogolas, well known along Selucia for its fierce opposition and critizism to conservative governments, and a main figure of federalisation, may open the Pandora's Box with his words.

Through our history, we have held the HoG of Selucia for 66 years during 4100-4200, and 41 years during 4200-4300; and the HoS for 41 years during 4100-4200 and 37 years from 4200-4300. Those numbers are great. A single party in a full democracy has achieved almost half of every century both Leadership. I couldn't be prouder of those who have been in this party before, now, and after I leave, and I can only say one thing: Thank to you all, and remember: Democracy is an unstoppable wave!

And all of this was achieved thanks to In Marea-Civis Sinistram. And that's not the end. This is just another beggining. We will continue fighting for the rights of everyone!

Guardians of the Majatran Sea?
Selucia starts contact with sea nations


Minister of Foreign Affairs Stavroula Zerva

The Government of the Res Publica Seluciae has announced today, by its Minister of Foreign Affairs, the start of contacts with the surrounding Sea Nations in order to develop stronger ties and a future common objective.

The statement, signed by Stavroula Zerva, has been sent to the Governments of Badara, Pontesi, Cildania and Kafuristan, and contains a formal proposal to start developing a common force or a common forum where the creation of a tighter collaboration between those nations will be made, in order to protect the entrance to the Majatran Sea and make more difficult or impossible the attack to any Majatran nation.

The main idea of the new treaty will be to create a common Sea Force to protect the entrance to this important sea, so any attack intending to hurt Majatra from this point can be rejected. Of course, the rest of the Majatran nations would be able to associate with us in order to send help or more forces, but the idea has to be created and developed by the Governments of the five nations that, together, occupies all the entrances to the Majatran sea and to the heart of our continent.

After the Wolfsheim's Infection has arrived in Milona, Istalia, and panic has started to spread in Majatra, the Government of Selucia has decided to start developing the first measures to avoid the disease in Selucia.

Among these measures, the Government has announced the restriction of the naval and air traffic, with stricter border controls in order to prevent the disease coming from air or sea into the Selucian isles.

This measure may affect the Selucian economy, but money can be recovered. A Terran life can't be recovered. Is as simple as that. We have to work for our people,
not for the banks or for the economy. This control in our frontiers is needed in order to prevent this disease and keep our citizens safe, which is our first priority now.

The Government has also announced the developing of infrastructures in some hospitals in the nation to host the affected cases of Selucians in case of the disease coming into the nation, as well as the creation of an expert comitee of doctors ready to help in national and international investigation to stop the disease in case of neccesity.

The government has asked the citizens to keep doing normal life, as currently there is no threat to their safety, and have also contacted with all its embassies around Terra to be ready to leave other nations in case of the disease arriving to them. They have also confirmed that the possibility of totally closing the frontiers is on the table, but there is currently no need to do it.

Selucia welcomes the new century under menace
Selucians celebrate the arrival of the 44th century with the Dovanian Plague in their minds.



Selucia has celebrated the arrival of 4300 with their citizens mostly worried about the plague that is expanding trhoughout Terra.

While yesterday was a day for all families to reunite and celebrate the nex year and century, the most commented theme during the family meal was the disease that has reached Majatra. Talking with the citizens reunited in the central square of Augusta, some of them expressed their confidence in the Government to protect them while others argued about the possibility of having stopped the disease much earlier, if Terran Governments would have wanted to do so.

However, the preocupation for this new disease did not stop Selucians for going to party in the streets and locals all along the nation, specially the young generation,
who seemed the least worried about it.

An incident was registrered in a hospital in Marestella, with an old man arrived claiming having the symptons of the disease and being quickly moved to the recently new built installations to contain cases of the Dovanian Plague. In the end, however, there was no evidence of the Plague, but he was kept inside the building until further research is done.

Salonia Laeca and Sparax Fadus, interim Ministers of Health and Internal Affairs, have announced today further measures against the Dovanian Plague.

In a conference given in the morning, and after congratulating everyone the new century, they have announced the new measures of the Selucian Government, comprised in the denominated "Selucian National Health Containment Plan"

This plan provides:

- Destination of over 400 million SEN to fund invesigation on the diseaste.
- Total ban from any nation in which has been detected the Infection. Travel to those nation is allowed, but citizens will not be able to return.
- Diplomats of every nation are encouraged to stay in Selucia to allow faster collaboration on an international ground.
-Health checkpoints in airports and ports of the nation.
- Creation of Quarantine zones in every hospital in the nation, and funding of Containment Zones in five hospital per Provinciae to contain the confirmed infections.
- Creation of a Infection Security Body, which shall be contacted for questions about the disease and for suspects of disease cases.
- Medical and scientific teams from the international community are allowed to enter the nation after a health check.
