After early elections called by the Selucian Government of the Fascist Regimen Immutata, Factio Liberum Insulae, Factio Foedarati and Capitalismi Motus Modern were celebrate, In Marea-Civis Sinistram was the clear winner, getting the Head of State (and under current legislation, the Head of Government), the control of three provinciaes and almost 30% of the votes. We have with us the new Consul Petrus Viator, former Caesar Regens and Leader of the left-wing party. Good morning Mr. Viator.

P.Viator: Good morning, it's a pleasure to be here with you all.

Interviewer: Selucia has elected as its favourite party a left-wing party, while in the previous elections, the prefered one was a fascist party. How do you explain that?
P.V: Take into account that even though the Fascist Party ended in the first place, we got the second position in the previous elections, so we already had a big support. Said that, I think that the most important thing that has happened is that Selucia does not like extremisms. The Fascist Regimen Immutata has shown its worst face, prosecuting a minority in our nation and attempting to end with the civil liberties of all Selucians. Since this, our party worked hard to show the citizens why they should vote for us, so we could change this all. And it seems like it has worked. Still, more than a 20% of the population has voted fascist, and we should worry about this issue for sure.

I: As Head of State and Head of Government, what are going to be your first steps?
P.V: First of all, we have contacted Dorvik to stop the penalisations its Government wanted to put on Selucia because of the previous Government. We are working fast and hard, but this takes time. In Marea-Civis Sinistram has already contacted with Partis Imperialis and Factio Liberum Insulae in an attempt to form a new cabinet that will restore the liberties lost during the last cabinet.

I: And why IMCS has decided now to work with FLI, after previously accusing them of supporting the fascists?
P.V: Politics is a complicated game. While we disagree with the support FLI has given to some measures of the FRI, we must understand that there is no other possible way to form a new cabinet without their support. We need their votes to expel the FRI from the institutions, so we had to deal with the most reasonable of the Selucian parties. We already know that Partis Imperialis, despite our political differences, is open to work in restoring the national dignity of Selucia. We will obviously not contact with Fascist Regimen Immutata or Factio Foedarati, and Capitalismi Motus Modern is now a residual party. The only option left is the Factio Liberum Insulae. We hope they consider our offer and decide to work with the democratic parties, and not to support a fascist regime.

I: How did you and your party spent the election night?
P.V: Me, Cynthia Spirou, Zenon Gogolas... all the high members of the party spent the night in our national headquarters in Insularia, hoping for a miracle to happen. And indeed, it happened. We won Insularia, getting 62 out of 150 seats, almost the double of the second party; we won Oriensos with almost 60 seats; and the most important : we won Cor Patriae, a region where In Marea won for the last time in 4273 (only for one year), and before that, in 4192, more than a century ago! That was an achievement to be proud, the conservative region of Cor Patriae deciding to choose us before the fascists. We were crying of emotion. And when I was announced as new Consul... I can't explain how happy we were. We had been given the opportunity to change Selucia back to its original roots: a nation where everyone is respected. And we will work hard for it.

I: Did your party expected this answer from the international community?
P.V: Clearly not. We gave them and advise a few years ago. And their are still doing the same. They have clearly shown that they care little for what happens in other nations if they do not have benefits in them that can be in danger. Selucia has been always the first nation to offer its aid when needed, without asking for anything in return. It happened with any international political crisis, with diseases... We offered dialogue and collaboration. And now, when Selucia was the nation that needed help, when minorities were, and still are until we can form a new cabinet, and even then I'm not sure if we could stop the law, PROSECUTED because of what do they believe, the answer from the international community, from the World Congress, has been silence. A total and massive silence, except when it comes to remove embassies in our nation or to stablish a blockade. Then they are more than open to do so. That's so sad and we were expecting much more from them. Seems like we were fools. It's a shame that Selucia is not Istalia, or Indrala, or Dorvik... Then I'm sure voices would have arisen very high. Shame.

Brutus Marches on Assedo!

In light of the new elections, where the majority of people in Marestella voted for Brutus and his party, there is a move for independence. Brutus gathered thousands of supporters and led them to the government building in Assedo. He called for a state independence from the state wherein Marestella shall be part of Selucia but shall remain a member of the Selucian nation. They shall be ruled by the Brutus family and will serve those who help them gain independence.

After the last elections, where IMCS won the Head of State and Government but failed to form a cabinet, tensions are arisen.


Consul Petrus Viator in the Senate

It seemed that the democracy that has governed Selucia for years was impossible to break, but after the elections of 4308, the political situation is increasingly tense and threatens to fracture the nation.

In the last elections the progressive party In Marea-Civis Sinistram won, winning almost 30% of the votes and being its candidate Petrus Viator elected as Consul de Selucia (official position that reunites the powers of head of state and government). However, the political landscape of the nation after the elections has made it impossible for a government agreement to form a new cabinet, with the Fascist Party finishing second and other right-wing parties (Factio Foedarati and Factio Liberum Insulae) finishing in third and fourth. Much more removed from the rest have finished Partis Imperialis and Capitalismi Motus Modern, without enough seats to reach a satisfactory majority.

This situation has led to that on the one hand, Factio Liberum Insulae, winning party by absolute majority in the province of Marestella, has taken the first step to proclaim the semi independence of the territory, with the support of FRI and FF, without consulting by referendum nor dialoguing with the government.

This fact, denounced as illegal, has been suddenly dragged into the background after the proposal of the FRI (Fascist Regime Immutata) in the Senate to proceed to the systematic and immediate detention of the Yeudish people, who had previously been marked with bracelets when the FRI held the Head of State, relying on the law passed during his government that established that membership in Hosianism was mandatory in the nation.

However, the proposal has been immediately annulled by the new consul, Petrus Viator, alleging that it is up to the executive power (himself as head of government) and not to the legislative (the Senate) to decree such an arrest warrant.

This has led the Minister of Defense of the previous Government, in interim given the impossibility of choosing a new cabinet by IMCS, to threaten to mobilize the army if the left party does not comply with the mandate that comes out of the Senate.

After this response, the members of In Marea-Civis Sinistram among others, have begun to protest in the room, and Consul Petrus Viator has warned of the seriousness of provoking the nation with the threat of a coup d'état

Brutus' actions in Maresetella

After the claiming of independence and the legislative acceptance of this measure, Brutus has taken measures to ensure the region's safety. After employing an estimated 2,000 troops into the BAV (Brutus Army Volunteers), Brutus has taken measures to secure the borders with Cor Patriae. With many Yeudis in his state feeling anxious about their future, Brutus has decided to ignore national legislation asking for the detainment of Yeudis but many fear that their safety is in peril. The BAV recently raided the houses of former members of the Communist Party, taking them from their homes and forcing them to enter Cor Patriae by dropping them from helicopters from a height of precisely 5 feet. Many worry that the In Marea supporters of Marestella will be next in the sights of Cassius Brutus after the BAV was seen defacing an image of the new Consul: Petrus Viator.

Death Of Juliana Mede

At 09:30 AM, March 5th 4310, Juliana Mede was found dead in her cell. She appeared to have hung herself, but further investigation has found that she was poisoned and beaten before her hanging. The Selucian police has confirmed this as a homicide, and are searching for the perpetrators. Meanwhile, the Selucian Right Wing Alliance dismiss this as a suicide and call upon the judiciary branch of government to halt their investigations.

Tension keeps raising in Selucia
The Fascist Party has threatened the Head of State with using the military against his party

The situation in Selucia seems to have reached a point of no return. Following the suspension of the Marestella declaration of independence and the advise to the Brutus Family of being breaking the Selucian law regarding paramilitaries made by the Selucian Consul, Petrus Viator, the Fascist Regimen Immutata has accused In Marea-Civis Sinistram, of hipocrisy:

Does In Marea not see the hypocrisy in its own actions? They criticize and threaten the Brutus Family for breaking the Selucian law, yet they themselves have no regard for the law either.

In Marea is disregarding the legislation the Fascist Regime passed while in power. We pushed for the establishment of Hosianism as the state religion, and did so legitimately through the senate. Our proposals passed, and are now Selucian legislation. These proposals meant that membership to Hosianism became mandatory, which is why the Yeudis need to be persecuted as they are breaking the law.

While we agree, that the Brutus Family should have called a referendum and made their independence movement through the senate, we also believe that In Marea is in no position to criticize them. As long as In Marea refuses to enforce the law regarding membership to Hosianism being mandatory, the Fascist Regime and the Selucian Right Wing Alliance will not respect their authority.

If In Marea does not immediately address their hypocrisy, the Selucian Right Wing Alliance will have to intervene. In Marea may think they are safe as they have possession of the consulship, but the Selucian Right Wing Alliance has control of the Selucian ministries, with emphasis on the ministry of defence.

We hope In Marea come to their senses before they force us to take action.

Those words have been widely critizised in the Senate, with the spokesperson of In Marea, former Caesar Senatus Orion Sideris, answering the following:

Your Government decided to force only a certain religion to wear armbands so they can be identified and punished in public. Membership of a religion does not imply the devotion to it. Anyone can registrer as Hosian and then follow the religion they want, as it is not mandatory to profess it, just to have a membership on it. Therefore no one is breaking the law by believing in other religions if they have a membership on Hosianism.

The Selucian Right Wing Alliance therefore is ignoring the will of the majority of people that voted not for IMCS; but for Petrus Viator as Head of State.

This independence is still declared null as it has not followed the legal procedure. If it is not cancelled, the Selucian Supreme Court will interfere.

Mr. Cato, are your words a threat? Are you trying to threat the members of In Marea by using the military against them? Do you think the reputation of the military body would stay intact if you decide to use it against its own Government?

With the threat of the military intervention now, the scenario has risen to another level, never seen in modern Selucia. Insularia, Cor Patriae and Oriensos, all ruled by In Marea-Civis Sinistram, have announced via their praetors, Zenon Gogolas, Sepunia Mercator and Pristina Gallea, that the military bases in their regions will not contribute to a coup d'etat against a democratically elected Head of State.

With the call of the Selucian Consul Petrus Viator in the international ground and the General Assembly fallen in an empty sack, now the scenario is more uncertain than ever. Nations have been widely critizised by some members of In Marea, for having their mouths full of the words "democracy" and "freedom", but forgetting about Selucia and abandoning it at its own luck.

Members of In Marea-Civis Sinistram have also been seen in contact with Istalian authorities in case of an emergency situation to leave the nation, but Cynthia Spirou, Secretary of the party, has said that "for the moment, we will keep fighting for our nation and for the values we still believe in".

Fascist Regimen Immutata and its pets have awaken the worst fears and feelings of the Selucians. They have destroyed convivence, they have destroyed partnership, they have destroyed friendships and families, and they will not stop until Selucia becomes a dictatorship and destroys itself. We will still fight for freedom and for all the values we believe in, and we don't care about the cost. They are currently working on legalizing paramilitaries so they can keep with their dictatorial way,
but we know democracy will prevail.

Selucian Provinciaes start conflict against the State
The Provinciaes of Cor Patriae, Oriensos and Insularia face the State after its repressive turn

The conflict in Selucia is far from ending. After the victory of the candidate of the Fascist Regimen Immutata in the Head of State elections, defeating Petrus Viator, and the victory of In Marea-Civis Sinistram in the legislative elections, isolated of the rest of parties with the exception of Partis Imperialis, the Selucian provinces have got much more relevance.

The Brutus Family (former Factio Liberum Insulae) called for new elections that would serve also to start the independence of Marestella, where it had absolute majority in the regional parliament. However, the party lost its absolute majority and now will have to pact with different parties in order to pass bills.

The situation in the other provinces did not change: Fascist Regimen Immutata retained Occidentria while Cor Patriae, Oriensos and Insularia were kept in the hands of In Marea-Civis Sinistram.

After these results, with Mr. Cato from the Fascist Regimen Immutata as new Consul of Selucia, the Praetors of the provinces ruled by IMCS have decided to take a step forward, by declaring the provinces "Sanctuary regions".

Pristina Gallea, Praetor of Oriensos, has said to this newspaper:

Selucia has always been an open land for everyone, a land of opportunities and a land of freedom. However, those concepts are very fragile, and can be broken very easily. That is what the Fascist Regimen Immutata and its leader, now Consul of Selucia, are trying to do. And while we can, we will not let this happen.

Zenon Gogolas, the well-known Praetor of Insularia for the last 26 years, has been more critical:

The Fascist Regimen Immutata and its allies, Factio Foedarati and Brutus Family, have awaken new hates and fears that were lying for hundreds of years below the surface of Selucian. Everything was working fine in our nation until they came and started to speak about banning religions, the Selucian race and so. They are just a bunch of xenophobic supremacists that want to burn our nation now. But in Insularia and Oriensos, they are a residual party. We will not let that our citizens, no matter their religion, no matter their nation of origin, no matter their sex or sexual orientation, feel like they are starting to lose the protection the Selucian State should guarantee to all of them. What they are doing to the Yeudish is just another example of why they should not be even in the Senate, why they should not be in Selucia.
And if the State does not protect all its citizens, like it's clear it is not going to happen, the provinces will do it. It is a shame that Factio Foedarati and the Brutus Family decided to follow the same path, but that leaves only Partis Imperialis and ourselves truly defending this nation. We will do it. That is why we are declaring Oriensos, Cor Patriae and Insularia "sanctuary regions", which means that we will protect with every single law we can find the rights of every single Insularian, Oriensan or Cor Patreo.

The Government, formed by Fascist Regimen Immutata, Capitalismi Motus Modern, Factio Foedarati and Factio Liberum Insulae has not reacted yet, but the three Praetors are very sure of what they are doing.

If they keep in this attitude, we will push to hold independence referendums in our region

BREAKING Director of the NIS accuses Fascist Regimen Immutata
The far-right party is accused of the death of Juliana Mede, killed in her cell a few years ago and unresolved until now.

Midas Athanas, declaring today

Midas Athanas, the Director of the Nationalibus Intelligentia Seluciae (NIS, Selucian National Intelligence Body), has formally accused today Fascist Regimen Immutata as being the brain behind the death of Mrs. Juliana Mede, the political refugee who ran out of Barmenia following the fall of the Sultanate, and was judged and condemned in her natal nation, Selucia.

Mr. Athanas has made the announcement today, clarifying that "they were following a hard line of work and they could not speak earlier to not to commit any fail", but he has stated that now, there is enough proofs to accuse the far-right party and current Government of the death of Mrs. Mede.

Although we can not give names yet, nor can we accuse the whole party, there is enough evidence to incriminate members of the Fascist Party in the murder of Mrs. Mede, which occurred a few years ago. All the information we have is now being transferred to the Supreme Court, which has the authority to judge members of the Government and the Senate.

The fuse has already been lit, and since the opposition parties have already demanded explanations from the government and manifestations have been called, especially in the provinces of Insularia and Oriensos, where their respective regional governments have called for the central government to cease until the facts are clarified. So far no member of the Government has agreed to make statements in this regard.

New leader of In Marea-Civis Sinistram calls for civil disobedience against the "tirany of the State".

During the ordinary session of the Senate, the new leader of the left-wing party, Belona Bicansa, has warned the government not to "play with fire", in response to the law that is being prepared and that if approved, would mean final approval of the prosecution, expulsion and murder of the Yeudish residing in Selucia. She has dedicated the following words to the Government, made up by Fascist Regimen Immutata, Factio Foedarati, Brutus Family and Capitalismi Motus Modern.

"My predecessor, Petrus Viator, is a good man, probably too good. He has given you too many wings, when all you have done is to feed the hatred of the citizens of our nation, I am going to be much clearer and much more direct with you: you think you are above all and that, thanks to the pact you have made with the other murderous parties - yes, assassins are the only thing that you are if you allow the approval of this law - you can have Selucia under your total control. But now I advance you the following: not while In Marea-Civis Sinistram is still alive. As soon as this law is proposed for approval in the Senate, it will be immediately appealed to the Supreme Court - and be careful with your words, because we already know about the jokes of some members of your party about the magistrates having "some kind of accident" - and likewise, the governments under the control of In Marea-Civis Sinistram, will not abide by any resolution until the Supreme Court manifests itself on this issue. You can only try to carry out your policies of death and persecution in Marestella and Occidentria, where from here we appeal to the heart of the Selucians to initiate a civil disobedience that ends this government of terror and fear. The Fascist Regimen Immutata is a party accused by our own intelligence service of planning and killing the assassination of a Selucian citizen that was already paying for her crimes. They don't deserve to be seated here.

It seems incredible that, being in the century that we are, there are still persecutions for religious reasons, and that it really may seem dangerous to someone to believe in one god or another, or not to believe in anything.

In Marea-Civis Sinistram will soon start taking action against this Government, we have already endured enough."

She has also dedicated some words to the international community:

I feel honestly, shame of the international community, which we have already appealed on numerous occasions to end the crimes against humanity that are occurring in Selucia, and which have gone unpunished because the rest of the nations apparently do not consider that Selucia is important enough to devote a minimum of attention, despite having worked hard for a long time for global peace and the elimination of inequalities.

I am ashamed that the only thing that other countries think to do is to eliminate their embassy from our country, an act of dishonor that all it does is to leave without protection its own citizens who live in our country, and that neither attacks nor It even scratches the root of the problem.

She ended her declaration in the Senate with the following sentence:

"To everyone that is watching or hearing this: When the violence causes silence, we must be mistaken".
