Nation Saved from Civil War by Both Sides Forming a Dictatorship!

The Imperator triumphantly reads out the agreement sighed by the leaders of the National Revolutionary Front recognising him as Imperatoris-Dictaturae, a guarantee of peace after decades of political violence.

The Speech before the Senate, throughout the speech he was flaked by fully armed Lictors to defend against assassination attempts. Lictors also blocked entrances and exits, and interrogated Senators for reasons of security:

With both the slave trade and the Gladiatory games revived, polls are showing that the Selucian people are more entertained than any other people on Terra. Pleb and Patrician alike delight in the glorious sight of Celestian heretics, traitors and Keymon barbarians being ripped to bloody shreds before their eyes, and are generally far happier as a nation. An exclusive with Selucian defector, Gaius Petreius, full of shocking revelations about the nature of the "Officium Dictaturae" regime, the Legion Optimates and the dark secrets of the Patrician class.

Interviewer: Mr Petreius, you are the most high ranking defector ever to leave Selucia since the establishment of the Dictatorship, could you explain to our readers what exactly your connection to the regime is?

Gaius Petreius: I was a high-ranking member of the Lictors, the Lictors where originally a democratic organisation. Under democracy we acted as bodyguards to the Imperator, mostly ceremonial stuff. Then, under Avitus, we were expanded into a nationwide "National Military Law-keeping Intelligence Gathering Force", that's how the regime says "secret police". At the time I welcomed the change, but it wasn't long before I became horrified by what the Regime really was.

Interviewer: You say you where horrified by what the Regime "really" was, but surly it was clear it was a dictatorship from the beginning? What is it you mean?

Gaius Petreius: The Regime is no normal right-wing dictatorship, created out of fear of Communism, it is part of a much wider historical agenda. Soon, even the most right-wing of Empires will see that the regime is not one of their kind, but something truly terrible. At this moment, the movement which came to power claiming that it was defending Selucia's heritage will erase most of it's cities names and replace them with "Incumbo Castra" (Concentration Camps) and commit the majority of it's own people to slavery or death. The legislation is in place, and not even the so-called National Revolutionary Front can vote no now. This is not anti-Communism, this is worse than any Communist regime could be.

Interviewer: The "so-called" National Revolutionary Front?

Gaius Petreius: Yes, the National Revolutionary Front has not been a truly independent left-wing movement for decades, perhaps it never was. You see, after the January 2794 elections, the traditional leader of the Front, Felix Titus went missing and from then on the NRF became more and more a tool used by the Legion Optimates to control plebeian votes and help establish the Officium Dictaturae Regime. Well, this mystery has been solved in the files I stole from the Lictor achieves, the Front was infiltrated by Patrician elements and they did away with the original leadership in the signature violent manner of the Regime. Now they've mysteriously disbanded, but I have strong suspicions that the Regime simply pulled the plug on their pet-opposition project.

Interviewer: Lets go back to what you said earlier, about the Regime being part of a wider historical agenda.

Gaius Petreius: Well, when you look at the cabinet what's the first thing you notice?

Interviewer: Errrm, I suppose that all the most important positions are occupied by members of the Tyrannus family.

Gaius Petreius: Yes, that's the nature of the Patrician elite, they rule in family groups. That in it self means nothing much, the Patricians have always behaved so and Selucian democracy survived. Indeed, this is the first open Dictatorship the Patricians have created since the three Islands where united 799 years ago. So what makes the Patricians behave in such a way, creating a Fascistic Regime and infiltrating Communist organisations? Well, at the risk of sound ridiculous, it's a conspiracy. The Tyrannus family are really a branch of the Godwin dynasty, and the Legion Optimates a puppet of the Thule Soceity.

Interviewer: (Taken aback) But the Thule Soceity was a Anglo-Deltarian Party which ruled Vorona after the overthrow of the Catholic Church there, and the Godwin's their royal family. How can either have anything to do with the Selucian Regime?

Gaius Petreius: You are right to be shocked, but not at all right otherwise. Remember, the Anglo-Deltarian revolution was carried out by the National Spartakist Heremannists, the Thule Soceity first appeared in press reports merely as some kind of mysterious intelligence agency. But then as the Revolution seemed to be reaching it's completion, Godwin suddenly mobilised the army against his own followers and handed complete control over the Thule. The rest is history, "Social Caste Reorganisation", insane industrialisation and the banning of socialism by a ruler who claimed to be an agrarian socialist. But it goes back further than that, many people forget but the NWO had an ally called the United Soviet Socialist Reich. This "Reich" was also run by a Godwin, and before that in truly distant history are the first Godwin's. They where the "leaders" of the IngSoc movement, but the records from the time hint that someone was pulling their strings behind the scenes. It kept seeming this Godwin had converted from the movement, but then he would become a fanatic again. This conspiracy backs back further than the NWO, and follows the same pattern everywhere. Chaotic revolution, promise of Socialism, placement of a charismatic leader in power, sudden establishment of the exact opposite of a Socialist utopia. That is, a enforced hierarchy.

Gaius Petreius: Who knows, I only know that huge numbers of my ex-comrades in the Lictors where Thule members, and that they are doing is evil beyond words.
