Selucia threatens to leave NAM meeting
The decision comes after the treatment given to the previous foreign minister, Megara Kondou, by the Kalistani government

Image
New Selucian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nadia Galvius, explaining the Selucian position

After the words of Megara Kondou, former Minister of Foreign Affairs until today, in the Kalistani chamber, and the reaction of the SPoK, the central government of Selucia has decided to take action on the matter.

In conversations between the Kalistani Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Caesar de Selucia, it was announced that Mrs. Kondou immediately resigned after the controversy to her position as minister of Selucia, in order to avoid harming anyone in the coming days, justifying her resignation under the maxim that "ignorance does not exempt the fulfillment of the law".

The former minister would have broken the law of Kalistan by speaking in its parliament without prior permission, in a debate related to the support of this nation to the candidate countries to the World Congress, among whose points it was debated to withdraw support for Selucia. The Minister intervened in the session, showing her disagreement with these actions and asking her NAM partners for collaboration, in order to get a neutral nation placed in one of the largest world organizations. Words that did not sit well with the SPoK, which immediately requested the enforcement of the espionage law to deport the Minister to Selucia, given that she was in Kalistan to negotiate the terms of the NAM.

Selucia's government has reacted immediately, announcing the return to Selucia and the voluntary resignation of Megara Kondou as Selucia's representative "so as not to damage the image of the nation" and appointing Nadia Galvius as the new minister. It was she who made the following statements from the parliament of Selucia:

"We understand that Kalistan wants to enforce its law, and that as Minister Kondou has said in her resignation, ignorance of the law does not exempt her from compliance." However, why was the minister not stopped before entering the parliament? In the first place, and secondly, can we really be considered as a nation that practices espionage? Are these the bases on which we are going to settle the Movement of Non-Aligned Nations? It does not make sense to continue, if such accusations and similar measures are to be launched on allied and friendly nations. Although we understand that the Kalistani law prevents any external representative from speaking on its camera - something that we are not going to value, even if we are in disagreement - there are ways and means of doing things, although Minister Kondou had to be duly informed of how to carry out her actions, she did it with the best intention in the world, to continue defending the NAM as the best way she knew, to prevent Selucia's candidacy from falling down. And we find this unpleasant situation between our two nations. For this reason, and in protest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Selucia will not appear in Kalistan to continue the talks. Instead, they will remain until further notice or new elections, Consul Opis and Caesar Nerva, which will be in their legitimate right to take the actions that are appropriate. "

Emergency plan for Zardic refugees
The Government reacts after a Coburan petition of help

Image
Petunia Carsia, Orator of In Marea-Civis Sinistram, announcing the new proposal

After the massive flight of refugees from Zardugal to the coast of Cobura, the government of this nation has been overwhelmed, and have found it necessary to contact other Majatran nations in order to handle this delicate situation as soon as possible.

"The new law to modify the one that currently rules in Selucia, and that from our party we have tried to change many times, without success, will provide the necessary help to these refugees from Zardugal, who need it, and will show once again that Selucia is a nation solidarity and committed to the defense of all human beings. For this reason, it has just been proposed an emergency change of the law in the Senate, and although we do not know if it will be approved, we have high hopes put into it "
Has said the government spokesperson, Petunia Carsia.

On the other hand, the Praetors of Cor Patriae, Insularia and Oriensos have already announced that, pending what the Senate decides, in their regions the reception of refugees will begin immediately, in order to provide them with the necessary help as soon as possible and save them greater suffering.

For the moment, and in the absence of more data, Artemisia Oltra, Praetor of Insularia, has announced that her region is prepared to give shelter to 1,000 refugees, figures similar to those provided by the Praetors of the other two regions controlled by In Marea-Civis Sinistram.

Asked about the recent political conflict between Kalistan and Selucia, the government spokeswoman declined to comment, but assured that
"Megara Kondou understood perfectly his erroneous conduct, but the government is very upset with the manners shown."

"Tourists Go Home, Refugees Welcome"
Rise of anti-tourist sentiment in Selucia as Republic embraces Zardic refugees

Image
Anti-tourist graffiti are now a common sight in Selucia's cities

February 4435 - The decision reached last year by the Selucian government to welcome Zardic refugees fleeing persecution and poverty in Zardugal received the surprising and nearly overwhelming support of both the largest governing party and the main opposition Party, the Republicans. Moreover, although there have been some isolated instances of minor violence directed at the Zardic newcomers, the scale and potency of anti-refugee and anti-migrant sentiment appear to be at a historical low, after the decades during which the far-right National Legion dominated Selucia's immigration discourse between the 70s and 90s of the last century, and, in spite of occasional public outbursts, most Selucians, of all ideological stripes, appear to have coalesced around a national consensus that the current restrictive immigration and asylum policies are in need of liberalization and that those fleeing violence or poverty in their home countries ought to be given refuge in the Republic. But this new-found consensus does not extend to the other main source of large-scale movement between countries, namely tourism. Although the numbers of both immigrants and tourists have risen exponentially in recent years with the thaw in relations between Selucia and the Majatran mainland after the period of mutual suspicion and hostility that followed Selucia's withdrawal from the Majatran Alliance, it seems that many Selucians now prefer to receive hundreds of thousands of impoverished immigrants or asylum-seekers rather than millions of tourists who spend billions of SEN in the national economy. A phenomenon dubbed by critics as "tourismophobia" has overtaken several Selucian cities, with protests against the influx of visitors now an almost monthly occurrence in such popular tourist destinations as Auroria, Assedo, Victoria, Florentia, and elsewhere in Selucia. Although tourism contributes as much as 13% of Selucia's GDP, the protesters allege that tourism destroys the uniqueness and identity of Selucian cities, drives rents up for local residents as landlords prefer to make easy money renting out to tourists, drives traditional businesses out of business, causes congestion and segregation as locals are being pushed out of places popular with tourists, creates low-paying seasonal jobs, and causes environmental degradation.

The Republican Party, while it proved itself keen to support the government's policy of welcoming southern migration, was also willing to embrace the anti-tourism movement's opposition to northern tourism. The Mutanabbian Law on Tourism, introduced by Republican Leader of the Opposition and former Consul Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi, seeks to drastically reduce the total number of visitors allowed to travel to Selucia each year by introducing the controversial and contested "tourism carrying capacity" indicator, to be calculated by the Ministry of Tourism and to be used to determine the total amount of visitors the Selucian economy and environment is capable of supporting each year. Opponents of the proposal argue that there is no objective standard to measure tourism carrying capacity and that any such indicator is bound to be subjective and politically determined based on what the party in government sees as the public good worth preserving from the depredations of tourism. Republicans counter by arguing that what is important is not the exact size of the carrying capacity, but rather the fact that, under the proposed reform, the government would be required to transparently justify the number of visitors granted tourist visas in terms of the economic, social, and environmental impact that number may have for the Republic, and by making the government's reasoning public the Republicans hope to bring to light the potential negative consequences of mass tourism.

To an extent it is hardly surprising that a political party founded by opponents to the Majatran Alliance and the Terran Olympic Games is now taking a hard stance against tourism. What is more unusual, however, is the fact that a party whose first manifesto decried the "masses of mainlander immigrants who do not share the Republic's values and actively work to subvert it" is now arguably supporting mass mainlander migration. How is it that a party founded on welfare chauvinism and right-wing populism has not only completely reversed its stance on mass migration but even had Hiroto Yukimura, descended from refugees from Hulstria's Nimitz regime, elected as Selucia's first Kunihito head of state in 4411 and then proceeded to endorse the first ethnically Majatran Consul in the Republic's history, Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi, elected in 4419? The answer to this question is two-fold. From a pragmatic standpoint the Republicans were quick to discover that, while they could count for limited support among the Selucian political class for their religion-friendly policies, such as providing government funding for religious schools, placing ministers of religion on the government's payroll, supporting school prayers, granting tax-exempt status to religious organizations, or banning abortion for the rich, many immigrants, particularly those of a Yeudi or Ahmadi background, have stated that they preferred to live in a country where religion was taken seriously and were happy to endorse the policies of the Republicans in opposition to both the neutral secularism of In Marea and the exclusive endorsement of one religion or another promoted by Selucia's panoply of short-lived far-right parties. Ideologically, the Republicans justify their shift on immigration as their party's adopting a more nuanced approach as it moves from its original traditionalism towards a more mature ideological platform while maintaining its commitment to the core Republican principles of non-domination, popular sovereignty, and civic virtue.

Image
The Al-Hakim mosque in Assedo, built in the traditional Selucian architectural style, has come to symbolize the virtue of identity-respecting integration that Republicans now champion

The Republican Party now contends that, by emphasizing engagement among citizens, Republicanism is better suited to deal with cultural difference than either liberal neutrality or multicultural recognition. For Republicans citizenship is based on the involuntary interdependence of those that find themselves under the same laws and the same institutions, and the main task of the government is to discover what kind of freedom is possible under this interdependence and how it may be achieved. For Republicans freedom requires political equality and an engaged citizenry, and this requires the recognition of the specificity of different kinds of citizens and the different burdens they are required to bear in order to achieve civic participation, as well as the need to grant recognition to citizens themselves in their identities rather than of their identities, meaning that those that are different need the status and privilege of citizenship in order to allow them to contribute to the common good rather than letting them live separately in their own way. Thus Republicans conceive of politics as based on interdependence and commitment to the public good rather than on commonality, as created in deliberation rather than pre-politically, and always subject to change. This understanding of politics has allowed the Republican Party to move from its original barely-concealed nativism towards a more inclusive view on the role of different cultures, religions, and conceptions of the good, which they contrast with the secularizing human rights-based neutrality of In Marea and with the particularism of the various ultra-Aurorian and ultra-Pagan movements that have littered Selucia's political life. It is no surprise then that former Republican Consul al-Mutanabbi, when promoting a Republican bill proposing the legal recognition of arranged marriage, a central cultural practice for many of Selucia's minorities, defended the party's stance on marriage and divorce in terms of the social benefit produced by marriage rather than the specific moral views of any one religion, by stating that the Republican Party "has for long been a defender of marriage, in all its forms, including same-sex marriage and traditional Ahmadi or Yeudish marriage [...] because we believe it produces positive externalities that are beneficial not only to the married couple but society as a whole", and that "by requiring long-term mutual self-sacrifice and abnegation, delaying gratification for the benefit of others, and sanctifying sexual relations within the bonds of a long-lasting commitment to the well-being of others, marriage, if practiced properly, is essential in building the virtues of solidarity, altruism, and self-sacrifice without which a democracy cannot last".

Insularian nationalism rises again
The turn to the right of Factio Republicana and its most recent policies create a boomerang effect in the island region

Image
Pavlos Agaraopoulos, Insularian Secretary of Province

The recent proposals of Factio Republicana, increasingly skewed to the political right, and its anti-tourism discourse, have had an unexpected effect on Insularia, whose waters seemed to have calmed down with the arrival of Artemisia Oltra to the Praetorship of the province, in 4387

Artemisia Oltra, who arrived at the Praetorship of Insularia in 4387, after a brief period in which In Marea-Civis Sinistram lost the region, managed to calm the province's nationalistic longings, which had been fed by the previous regional Praetors, among them Zenon Gogolas and Ares Zervas (IMCS). Qualifying nationalism as "anti-left", the Praetors of Insularia has remained uninterrupted in her position for almost 50 years and most of the time, with an absolute majority.

Applying policies more oriented towards equal opportunities in all areas, deepening in the laws approved by Ares Zervas, the region is one of the richest in Selucia and with lower percentages of inequality and lack of opportunities. However, with a strong tourism and cultural sector, and with most of its population young and openly progressive, the recent proposals of Factio Republicana have not been well established. Although in most cases they have been held back by the joint votes of the national government formed by In Marea-Civis Sinistram and Factio Imperialis, the minimum approach to them has raised new suspicions among the most radical sectors. The recent proposal to drastically reduce the number of tourists visiting the country has been the trigger that has taken thousands of Insularians onto the streets.

Under the slogan "Respect and tourism are not exclusive", the population of the region has taken to the streets to defend the families of tourists from the recent attacks.

"Although in some cases, it is true that tourism can create problems, it is in the minimum of cases. At no time can it be generalized, and we are lucky that the majority of people who visit us are families or groups of friends interested in our culture or our rest areas, and they are most respectful with us. I do not know how they deal with tourism in other provinces, but by applying the laws well and explaining them calmly, everyone understands us and even thanks us"
said the secretary of the province, Pavlos Agaraopoulos.
"Insularia has very restrictive laws regarding disrespectful tourism, and anyone who comes here thinking that they can destroy the island or disturb citizens or heritage, already faces serious sanctions"

Reproaching that the only thing that Factio Republicana intends is to "isolate the nation" and show signs of "toxic nationalism" to satisfy its most conservative sector, the Secretary has aligned himself with the voices that once again, after half a century of calm, have again asked for more independence for the region.

"First it was the death penalty, one of the most shameful things in our recent history and that fortunately, Mrs. Oltra did not approve, but more and more it shows how between Insularia and the rest of Selucia there is an abysmal difference."
said Marius Cladionus, spokesman for the Association for Insularian Independence.

Despite the fact that thousands of people took to the streets of the big cities of the region yesterday to request a referendum, the Praetor Oltra has been forceful in her statements:

"It is not in my nearest roadmap to even ask to ask the central government to hold a referendum on independence, let alone celebrate it without permission, because my opinion on nationalisms is well known."

However, Oltra, who will turn 90 in November, knows that her forces are limited. Despite having always been aligned with the more progressive sector of In Marea-Civis Sinistram and having the favor of the IUVIM, it is still not certain if she will repeat as a candidate for the 4439 elections, and if not, many members of the party assume that the candidate who wins the regional elections to replace her will have more radical positions regarding the independence movement, and will begin to pose serious problems for coexistence in the country, with the radicalization of both Factio Republicana and In Marea- Civis Sinistram, towards opposite sides of the political board.

New Supreme Court inaugurated
After the approval of the Velian law, the seven judges have been chosen

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Valeria Masseria (Iudex Maximus), Arcadio Opus Magus, Vagnia Vibenis, Caius Equitius, Aula Virgilia, Vatinia Aruns and Maria Laetoria

THe two last judges of the Supreme Court have been chosen, and the highest judicial institution of Selucia after the approval of the Velian law has been created. Constituted by 5 women and 2 men, including a black woman, religious members and members of the LGBT collective, the new Court is presented as an institution close to the citizenship, with empathy with the problems of the street, but at the same time prepared to apply rigorously the laws in force in the nation.

Four of its members (including the Iudex Maximus) have been chosen by In Marea-Civis Sinistram, while the other three have been chosen by Factio Republicana. This new Judicial Court is verified with a progressive trend, thanks to the ideology of Valeria Masseria, Arcadio Opus Magus and Vagnia Vibenis, having as sole judge purely conservative, Caius Equitius, and with three changing votes of the judges Maria Laetoria (with tendencies more conservative), Aula Virgilia and Vatinia Aruns (with a more progressive tendency).

In this way, the new Court adjusts to the current legislation, and its judges will be in their posts for a period of 20 years - from 4433 to 4453 - without the possibility of renewal.

Republicans Discipline Senators
New party rules introduce strict party discipline

Image
Republican co-leaders Consul Iennifer Vinicia Opis and Princeps Senatus Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi on the Senate floor

December 4435 - After facing a prolonged backbenchers' revolt for the past few years, after the Republican Party emerged as the largest party on the right of the political spectrum and was thus forced to recruit numerous inexperienced candidates with more right-wing views than the party leadership, the Republican Party recently introduced a number of measures designed to ensure strict party discipline and avoid the factional in-fighting that has plagued the party for decades. Under the new rules adopted by the party's General Congress, no Senator belonging to the Republican parliamentary group is allowed to introduce legislation, debate on bills, or make any public statement without the express approval of the party's two co-leaders, currently Consul Iennifer Vinicia Opis and Princeps Senatus and Leader of the Opposition Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi. Failure to comply with these rules will lead to a number of disciplinary measures, depending on the severity of the offence, the harshest being expulsion from the party and forcing the Senator to serve the remainder of their term as an independent. Moreover the co-leaders of the party now have the ability to oversee the nomination of all candidates on the Republican ticket, which until now had been the exclusive prerogative of the General Congress. By instilling stronger discipline the party leadership hopes to create a well-organized challenge to the current government without the threat of factionalism, which had been a significant issue for the party for decades. Arguing that democracy should exist between parties and not within, and that a functioning modern Republic requires strong and well-organized parties, Republican leadership claims that attempts to make the party internally democratic will only serve to undermine the Republican platform and harm its ability to successfully pursue its ideological and policy preferences. For the two co-leaders, the roles of parties are to win elections but also to channel the different voices within their coalition, and while sometimes these two goals can be jointly pursued sometimes they conflict. Under previous rules, candidates who lost nomination had the ability to contest the decision on democratic grounds, but the party leadership argues that in the long run this practice undermined both the nominee and the party. Conservative Republicans are however unhappy with the new rules, and although they now have a strong incentive to keep their views to themselves, several Republican backbenchers have anonymously complained that the new rules ignore the party's grass-roots and rank-and-file members in favor of the more moderate party establishment. But now the Republican co-leaders find themselves safe from internal challenges and are more at liberty to pursue a vision that may be very much at odds with that of many of its voters and members.

al-Mutanabbi: "In Marea is the Right-Wing Party"
Princeps Senatus defends anti-tourism legislation

Image
Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi condemning statements from Secretary Agaraopoulos

August 4436 - The recent statements issued by the Insularian Secretary of Province Pavlos Agaraopoulos condemning what he sees as the right-wing shift of the Republican Party due to its promotion of legislation designed to drastically reduce the number of tourists allowed to visit Selucia has prompted an angry reaction from the Princeps Senatus. Condemning the pro-tourism attitude of Secretary Agaraopoulos and the growing acceptance of the idea of Insularian independence, the Princeps Senatus, in a recent press conference, accused the left-wing IMCS party of only presenting a progressive veneer in order to disguise its pro-business and pro-capitalist policies.

Our critics often claim we are a right-wing party, because we stand for popular sovereignty, for strong laws, and for morality in politics and the economy. If that makes us right-wing, then so be it. But I find it hypocritical for someone who has no issues with the core of the system of capitalism and the oppression it causes to use the term "right-wing" as an insult when they differ from conservatives only in their attitude towards a small number of social issues and otherwise fully support neoliberal capitalism. It is not us who are right-wing, In Marea is the right-wing party. It is absurd for a party that has endorsed our membership in the Sharba Climate Accord to not recognize the threats posed by one of the biggest industries powering global capitalism and its environmentally destructive policies, namely mass tourism. Agaraopoulos seems to think we have something against the tourists themselves, as if we've somehow offended their honor. Our problem is not individual tourists, it is their sheer number and the unsustainable scale of industrialized and commodified tourism that causes environmental, economic, and social damage. Mass tourism leads to the excessive building of hotels and restaurants, noise pollution, light pollution, excessive travel, excessive water use, the commodification of culture, high rents, segregation, and foreign ownership of local businesses and the resulting leakage as foreign companies hire non-resident seasonal workers because they can be paid lower wages. None of these problems is caused by the individual behavior of tourists, but are the result of the very structure of mass tourism. If you were to replace all tourists with respectful and caring people but leave the structure unchanged, the result would be the same, just as replacing all capitalists with good people would solve nothing. In Marea may pride itself that we now have more women than men on the Supreme Court, but that does absolutely nothing to change the overall structure of society that leads to the poverty of women and their economic exclusion. Agaraopoulos and his party are simply blind to economic domination by just focusing on individual behavior, and that is the failure of not only In Marea but the entire ideology of liberalism, no matter how caring it portrays itself.

Elections give the first monocolor government for almost a century
Since 4350, without counting the Consul's government, there was no absolute majority of any party in Selucia

Image
The spokesperson of the Government, Axilus Solenius, after the election results

The dissolution of Factio Imperialis, government partners of In Marea-Civis Sinistram, has led Selucia to hold early elections, which as a result have awarded 380 seats of the 750 available in the Senate to the government party, resulting in the first absolute majority of a single party in Selucia since the year 4350, when In Marea-Civis Sinistram also formed a government only with members of its own party.

The government spokesperson, Axilus Solenius, has appeared after hearing the results of the elections to congratulate their opponents, Factio Republicana, and announce that the party will immediately begin to implement its entire political program, which previously could not be carried out because it lacked sufficient parliamentary support.

"Many thanks to the citizens who have trusted us to lead the nation's government, we will try with all our might not to disappoint them, although we have not been able to win in Occidentria and Cor Patriae, in the rest of the regions we have been the most voted party, and we will enforce our electoral program. "

Among the proposals of the party highlights the prohibition of the death penalty, banned in Insularia from the beginning but that was not able to be abolished so far in the other regions for lack of agreements. The Praetors of Oriensos and Marestella, who have achieved absolute majorities, have already announced that the process of outlawing the death penalty is under way, and at the national level, the government spokesman has announced that they will also propose its illegalization.

In the same way, religion and tourism, two of the major points of debate of the previous legislature, can now be handled at will by the government, which has already announced that it will return Selucia to its non-denominational status and will collaborate for further responsible integration of tourism.

Selucia "dissapointed" with the MUN
The government echoes the voices that criticize the way in which the MUN is developing its foreign policy

Image
Selucian Minister of Foreign Affairs after a MUNGA meeting

Nadia Galvius, Selucian Minister of Foreign Affairs, has echoed the voices that, from the Senate and the street, show signs of disagreement with the way in which the newly created MUN is carrying out its expansion and international politics.

"If an alliance really wants to settle down and unite its members in a good way, it must not base its relations on threat and confrontation, and unfortunately, the MUN has not done so much as show that face for the moment. Selucia refused to enter this organization and for that reason, we only ratified the treaty to be an observer nation, but our representative to the MUN has already made clear our position on these issues. The different political groups that make up the governing body of the MUN, with the exception of some, have decided to retaliate against nations of our own continent, such as Kalopia, who wanted to join the alliance and have only met with obstacles. We have not yet seen any major political proposal, only the creation of a large military corps, which also showed signs of trying to confront the Majatran Sea Guard, and therefore, we are not sure that this is the way to go. Not if you want this to be an alliance that lasts over time and that finally brings peace to a continent that has been battered by wars for centuries. "

New era for In Marea-Civis Sinistram
Seia Nerva and Artemisia Oltra both decided to announce their resignation at the same time to avoid conflicts

ImageImage
Aegeus Zografos (left) and Anthea Galanou (right) the new public faces of the party at national and Insularian level

After decades of political confrontation between both political figures, Seia Nerva and Artemisia Oltra decided to make peace and resign at the same time, to avoid rumours and speculations and "allow new blood to occupy the party".

Seia Nerva (85) and Artemisia Oltra (92), general secretary and secretary of Insularia respectively, have been two of the most visible faces of the party in recent decades. Known for the confrontations that have played in the face of the positions that the party should adopt with respect to social policies and collaboration with the rest of the parties, in the final stage of their career they have decided to bury the hatchet and try to reunify the party, divided between the most moderate and those from the powerful IUVIM, the youths of the party that advocate heeling it to the left.

After the victory of Amatia Scipio in the elections to Leader of the party at national level, being a great known among the IUVIM, with the decision of both politicians to renounce their posts at the same time it was intended to avoid greater tensions in the party towards some other positions, and let their affiliates choose their substitutes as soon as possible.

Although the leader of the party is elected by some delegates, the election of both the general secretary and the regional secretaries is done by popular vote, with the affiliates directly electing their future representatives.

Among the major problems that were feared to arise after the resignation of both leaders, a moment that had been feared for a long time, are to continue maintaining the balance between the moderates (Seia Nerva) and the IUVIM or their supporters (Artemisia Oltra) , as well as defining a clearer position of the party now that they only own Factio Republicana as opposition.

As substitutes for Seia Nerva options were considered as the current health minister, Aegeus Zografos, and the party spokeswoman in the Senate, Petunia Carsia, of more communist tendencies. However, Mr. Zografos has finally been, by a difference of 59-41%, the one that has been made with the victory, securing the position of General Secretary for a person of the moderate sector and close to Seia Nerva.

However, it has not been the same result for the party in Insularia. After the resignation of Artemisia Oltra, firm opponent of the current proposals of the independence movement of Insularia, and against the approaches of the IUVIM in that region, it was feared that a candidate more favorable to their proposals would take control, as finally has been. Anthea Galanou, Secretary of Education of Insularia and licensed in medicine, is the one who has taken the position. Mrs. Galanou, whose policies have been defined in the line of the former Praetors of Insularia Zenon Gogolas and Ares Zervas, is in favor of exerting more pressure on the central government in order to, if not achieve total independence of the region, if " greater authority over their own territory. Seia Nerva (left) and Augustus Scipio Longidium (right) the only two Caesares of the 45th century in Selucia

The first half of the 45th century in Selucia will be remembered for the unprecedented political crisis that opened at the beginning of the century, and that all the political parties of the nation knew how to resolve with diplomacy. But it will also be remembered as the first time that, in more than 40 years of the century, there have only been two Caesares elected - not counting Gnaeus Lucius, elected Caesar to end the 4400 political bloc: Seia Nerva (IMCS) and Augustus Scipio Longidium (RP).

Despite the many comings and goings, the number of different coalitions and the numerous internal conflicts, these two politicians have led the nation in the last 40 years, Mr. Longidium in two periods (4407-4411 and 4419). -4421) and Mrs. Nerva in the remaining three (4403-4407, 4411-4419 and 4421-4441).

However, the elections of 4441 will give Selucia a new Caesar, since Mr. Longidium's party, Rexist Party, was dissolved years ago and the current Caesar, Mrs. Nerva, has already announced that she will not stand for re-election, opening a new path to the leaders of the nation's political parties. On the table is that the chosen one comes from the ranks of Factio Republicana (that in spite of its numerous successes in the elections to Consul, it has only managed to lead the nation during the period 4380-4387, with Postumus Oppidius Hortensius), be chosen the candidate of In Marea-Civis Sinistram (of which we already know that it is Aegeus Zografos, current Minister of Health), or comes from the two new parties that have emerged in the nation. Be that as it may, the visible face of Selucia's government will give a drastic change.

In this way, and with her resignation, Seia Nerva becomes the longest-running political leader in the country at the national level (compared with regional leaders, several Praetors win), having held the leadership of government for more than 30 years, surpassing the previous record, held by Aelius Celer, with 27 years in government.

The leader, who has already announced that she will be a candidate to occupy one of the government's portfolios (presumably the one left by Aegeus Zografos), has appeared at a press conference to praise the Selucian democracy.

"For me it has been a real honor to lead this nation for so many years, having the support of the majority of the citizens, although there have been bitter or hard moments - in summary reference to their confrontation with their government partners for the performances of Mr. Yukimura. , or to the internal conflict with Artemisia Oltra - I can say that being a politician in Selucia is one of the most rewarding things that someone can be, not only for the respect and camaraderie that emanates even from rival forces, but also for the joy it gives to know that we are improving the lives of millions of people.

When I joined the ranks of my party, more than 50 years ago, I did not aspire to govern. I aspired to do my bit to change the world, to change Selucia. And I would say that I have achieved it. And I have reached the highest I could reach. We have fought hard to guarantee a good life for all our citizens, regardless of their country of origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender ... we have worked for all of them. And nothing could make me happier. I've shown little children that they have to pursue their dreams, that if the want they can, and that there is no one to stop them.

Obviously there are people who do not share my ideas, our political ideas. I respect it. But we have also ruled for them, and I hope that this has made them open their eyes on us. Our party sometimes still carries the label of a revolutionary because of how it had to be conformed and when it had to do it. And I'm not going to deny it. Because without revolution, there are no advances, there is no change. That is also why I decided to step aside and not stand for re-election. It's time for new faces in politics, and I will not be the one to stop it. "

Factio Democratica Optimatium returns to Selucian political scene

Following the infighting that caused the FDO to dissolve just 3 years after its formation, the FDO has returned to fill the gap left by the depature of the religious right.

The FDO though still faces an internal tussle between the Moderates and those on the Religious Right.
