KLP leadership elections

In the wake of the snap general election called by the KLP the party held leadership elections. After the KLP defeat at the last elections (-94 seats) and becaming only a poor third the KLP wanted to revitalize itself with a new manifesto and a new leader in order to win back many voters lost to the more radical SNP (Selucian National Party).
Before the electon thriller the delegates from all over Selucia agreed on the follwing key points of the manifesto:

1.) Complete seperation of economy and state
2.) Defeating SNP rebels
3.) Finally reach a compromise with Pontesi over the Selucian-pontesi minority
4.) Work together in the world and the continent to ensure peace and prosperity with regard to the Selucian population
5.) Further tax cuts and the introducement of a flat tax or regressive tax system

However many observers noted the heated discussions about joining the UMN but it became also evident that the attitudes are slowly changing in relation to this subject.

The leadership election was held under the preference voting system, meaning one caniddate by one were dropped out as long as one candidate has an absolut majority.

1.ballot:

Flavius Deutschmann: 46,8%
Johanna Lachs: 12,2%
Gerhardus Cäsar: 32,4%
Hans Berger (der Jüngere): 9,6%

2. ballot:

Flavius Deutschmann: 66,9%
Gerhardus Cäsar: 33,1%

With the new result the newly elected leader sts to work and is at once thrown into an election battle. The married mand with 3 childre is considered to be friendly towards the UMN however he is also strictly conservative.

Selucian government concerned over deltarian peace dictat

Yesterday, in a statement to the senate the under-secretary for foreign affairs Karl Esser (KLP) criizised the Delarian government for their harsh peace agreement towards Jelbania. "This treaty is complety inaceptabel and also questionable for a democracy and under international law.
Obviously the Delatrian government is good at fighting but not at balancing its actions and impacts. We are alarmed as well as angered by such a slave agreement, when we thought, slavery has just been abolished."

Blasius Ousted In Election Twist
Crusaders back Siegfried Schüsser; wins in a landslide

Auroria, Selucia- As stunned Libertarian Party officials starred and moaned at the electoral results scrolling on the television and with the heavy feeling of "Oh, shit" in the air, it is perhaps a testament to Senator Josiah Bavious leadership that he already devising his legislative agenda for the next year. Since 3514, the LP has had close to 50% of the national vote and has captured the Imperator's office 5 times out of the last 7 and this defeat has unnerved the party's top officials.

The reemergence of the Crusaders on the political scene caused an upheaval in the status quo. With the Crusaders backing, Siegfried Schüsser of the KLP defeated the incumbent Blasius Janus and the CF snagged 224 seats in the Imperial Senate. Already it appears that the CF looks to create a coalition with the KLP, leaving Princeps Senatus Marcus dan Umbria to exit after 13 years in office. Umbria's term in office has seen Selucia begin to come out of it's isolationist shell, pumping large amounts of money into education, and ending the Deltarian embargo. But political pundits disagree on the success of his term: homosexuals slowly began losing legal status in the country and the Senate failed to ratify the Union of Majatra or a treaty of friendship with Zardugal. Talks with Ponesti about their Selucian minority has also stalled.

Image

In his farewell speech, outgoing Imperator Blasius Janus has raised a few eyebrows and even outright indignation in his own party.

Honestly, I'm not upset one bit about leaving the Imperial office. It is, in all honestly, the most useless of public offices. It is a drain on tax payer resources and it is a pompous charade of an out dated position that only serves to inflate the ego of those seeking it. The only thing more useless than the Imperator? The Imperial Senate. That chamber is full of ingrates who forget they serve the people. Our system is quite clearly broken.

After insulting just about everyone in the room, Janus didn't stop there.

I question the political motives of the Crusaders movement, and I warn you now citizens of the Imperium to not bow to radicalism! We have difficult times ahead of us, but we must band together for what we stand for

After the speech, the Chiefs Spokesman for the Imperator apologized on behalf of Janus an said the ex-Imperator was clearly tired after a long campaign.

Princeps Senatus speaks

Today, the Princpes Senatus hold a speech in front of 40.000 people in response to the recent Deltarian actions. The speech was awaited with much attention, as it is clear, that Selucia more and more becomes the official speaker of nations who are against a Deltarian hegemony on the continent.

Dear ladies and gentelmen,

for the last couple of years ,we, the nations of a continent and the nations of the world have watched the gradual increase of power in the hands of Deltaria. Every day we wait Delterai becomes stronger and more powerful, putting more and more nations under their facade of human rights and democracy.
The fact of the matter is, that this is just a trick. Deltaria tries to step by step bring one nation after another under its control for humanitarian reasons or any other good-intentioned reasons, but as we all know, the way to hell is pathed with good intentions.
And the hell for us all is the goal of their Zar which is world domination, yes, dear ladies and gentlemen, world domination and this time not by the way it failed last timewith weapons and guns, but by slowly and careful occupation one by one nation.
Slowly they will undermine the community of our continent then they will destablize countries even try to set one nation against another in order to achieve their first goal of Majatran domination and then of world domination and before we have noticed it, all nations of Majtra will be united but under the shadow of dictation and hopelessness.
This is the future of our continent if we do not act resolutly and now. Let us bring our defences in position against Deltaria, let us renew the embargo against them and defeat them once and for all, so that they never pose a danger to our continent again.
To those who believe here might be a peaceful solution i say: Deltaria will never accept this and will see compromises and good gestures only as a sign of weakness.

Do not become dazzled by Deltaria but act within your own believe and defend the freedom of our cointinent once again and here I call to those forces who have once upon a time brought Deltaria to its knees. We are capable to do so again.

And to the Deltarian dicretly i say this: We will not tolerate the invasion of Cobura by your troops without international consent. If you do act, you might bring us to the brink of an armed conflict, which consequences I am not able to express.

Let us stand together.

The speech was given a warm welcome across party lines and within the whole press.

KLP landslide

In the election of 9590 the KLP regained the absolute majority as well as the constitutional majority with an increase of 216 seats to 489 seats in the Imperial Senate. "We have suceeded and we have fulfilled the hopse and aspirations of our people, let us build a Selucia which unites and not divideds and this is true as well for the continent.
We cannot stand aside and watch other to do the diplomatic work, but we also have a responsibility and threfroe a higher amount of involement into Majatran politics is necessary and required."

The newly elected Princeps Senatus also warned the liberal protesters near the Senate to abdone their protests and to accept the result of the election and subsequently an additional 10.000 soldiers were send to the outskirts of the capital to ensure law and order.
Now, 15.000 sodliers and 5000 policeman are gearing up to stop the protests and to clear the government district form protesters.

Protests continue,despite threats

Despite the threat of soldiers, the "March for Freedom" protests continue across the country. They are ignited even more by new bills taking away even more freedom than the original issue of gay marriage. Movement leader Julius Marcellus spoke:

The government seems to be under the misconception this is about which party is in power. IT IS NOT. We can accept the KLP if they can give us basic rights such as marriage and cross dressing. We are not politically affiliated. And we are prepared to protest here for the rest of our lives

Selucia welcomes Zardic Forces

The Selucian government welcomed every of the arriving 19063 soldiers from Zardugal with the promise of protection and a full integration into the Selucian Security Forces, a brutal and anoanymous part of the Selucian military forces. However 3621 of them refused to do be integrated into the SSF and demanded protection form the Selucian government on grounds of poltical persecution refusing to give away their military equipment and promising the destruction of the House Wiencek and the liberation of Zardugal.
The Selucian miltary refused to comment on these freelances, saying that every man in Selucia has the right to own a weapon and threfore no legal or beraucratic charges are open to the Selucian government.
Unconfimed reports also suggest that the freelances as well as the Zardic members of the SSF are given official training to be used against the Zardugal government and that elements within the Selucian government have close contacts with the Zardic lements around the globe.

Currency inflow into Selucia increases

Over the last two weeks the inflow of foreign currency into Selucia has trippeled, especially from the south-west of Majatra the inflows are substential and are further rising at the moment. The spokesman of the association of Selucian bankers, Senator Feistus Augustus, refused to comment whether this developement has any connection with the Jelbanian surrender and the Augustan-Jelbanian war in general.
"I refer the journalists to the Bank Secret Act, which does not allow any information about foreign account holders."

Meanwhile the association of hard Selucian taxpayers demanded clearification about possible money from Jelbania, but this was also strongley refused by the Selucian Central Bank.

Rebirth of Selucian Communism

Image

After decades of single party Conservative rule, the Plebs of Selucia have once again organized themselves politically. The Plebeian Democratic Party, a Pagan and Communist party led by Caius Capo, was founded this August with the aim of overthrowing the Imperium and replacing it with a Republic ruled by the Plebs. The party has found its strongest supporters among the marginalized and persecuted faithful of the ancient Religio Selucia, who still keep the old Gods alive in the heartland of the Selucian Patriarchal Church in spite of their faith's status as a religio illicita. After centuries of discrimination under Hosian supremacy, the worship of the old Gods remains strong in rural areas and among the working class, and the old customs are still maintained by many who declare themselves Hosians, while Hosian piety has become a mark of Patrician status. It these marginalized groups that the Plebeian Democratic Party hopes to mobilize in its pursuit of the dismantlement of the Imperium and the Church's power in Selucia.

Secession of the Plebs

Image

The revolutionary Plebs of Selucia has begun the liberation of the nation from under the Imperium with the Secession of the Plebs (Secessio Plebis). Revolting against the Conservative-Liberal Hosian single-party state, the Plebs, under the revolutionary guidance of the Plebeian Democratic Party and the Union of Communists, liberated West Shadar from Hosian autocracy, establishing the first Council of the Plebs (Concilium Plebis), a body challenging the authority of the Imperial Senate. The Council of the Plebs shall pass Plebis Scita (Decrees of the Plebs) as laws, applicable for the entire Selucian territory. The Secession shall last until all of Selucia is liberated from under Hosian tyranny and the Plebs will become masters in their own land.

The two Communist Plebeian parties have been leading the struggle for Plebeian liberation since 3652, fighting against a corrupt and theocratic single-party regimes that banned Religio Selucia, the native pagan religion of Selucia, and keeps the Plebs and Proletariat of the nation in darkness and ignorance. The two parties continue to work together even after Caius Valerius Publicola's Union of Communists broke from the Plebeian Democratic Party over differences regarding attitudes towards religion and morality, and will continue to fight together for the Plebeian Revolution in Selucia.
